In the third release of Organic Signs, we embark on a direct journey to the musical heart of Refractor: the annual gathering held in a forest on the outskirts of Madrid to celebrate dancing under the sun and stars for 24 uninterrupted hours.
With four tracks that encapsulate the sound of different mental states you may experience firsthand on this expedition, we begin with label manager Jan Swam's track. He introduces us to ancestral sounds featuring a flute played by himself, gradually accompanied by a penetrating bassline and synth, along with various elements spread across the stereo field. All of this leads to an unexpected finale. Another blast from the past. Organic Signs' second reference comes from a white label record found in Jan Swam's collection. Positive Recreational Soundsystem is another aka for A Positive Life (Stefan Pierlejewski & Liam Farrell). Under this name, they only release one EP, back in 1996. There are 2 original tracks and a remix we added to close the generational circle.

Side A - Son of The Rising House - is a 10 mins entrancing musical journey that will transport us to the optimism and joy of a sunrise in the free parties of the mid 90's, which were still resisting to enter the capitalist rules of the clubs. Side B1 - Encoded - features an FM oscillator from the Matrix 12, embarking us on a darker version of the rave, with modulated sounds closer to goa trance. Finally, the B2 - remix by Jan Swam - shows us a modern take on the A-side, using the original samples sent by Stefan and others from the legendary Yamaha RM1X. It is an 8 minutes rework in which he pays great respect to the original one, separating it into a first part with breakbeat rhythms and a second part with 4X4.

The first LP is always a reason to celebrate, and also grounds for elated expectation (for more, of course): and now, respect is in order because here is the double premier. The first LP from Marek Hemmann, the multifaceted electro-tinkerer near side of the Saale River, and as well the first CD-Long player from the house of FAT!
We know Marek Hemmann is solo as well as half of the congenial duo Hemmann & Kaden, who for years have been the pillars of the new house & techno scene, both as producer and live act. The complete releases are in the meantime around a dozen; the innumerable remix business for colleagues from Trentemøller to Monika Kruse can it be counted. After the most recent EP, the floor storming Gemini, it was clear that the time is now to get a load of the night fulfilling complete artwork. On to the in between.
What Mr. Hemmann offers here on technoid material, despite the stacked title, is but a small universe. Not quite a snack, but rather right in the middle we find ourselves standing in an eclectic house-world, which in every corner offers a new discovery. From classic deep-droning dub epos over the ëfrizzed-upí house with Bossa shots and demanding horn action up to highly complex sample tone-art. Yes, it is a long trip through techno-land; one in which Marek takes us along, and one which it must be said, is quite wonderful. In the best way. With a round of wholly comprehensive melancholy, it comes over us like a sunrise through the broken club doors after a completely danced-through night. That happens often enough, but for the swinging beauty and manually-labored final touch, flashes forth Mr. Hemmann’s golden hands, bringing back the hypnotic bass lines. The humming monotony lives, as does the subconscious when it says to us: Stay! Move your ass! And look, what beauteous northern melodies there on the horizon. Then the sun arises. Blazing through those same - broken club doors...

Adding his first EP to the label’s catalogue, Figure warmly welcomes Vinicius Honorio onto the roster.
Having first made his mark in the DnB-world as BTK, the vetted Brazilian producer now has been conquering the global techno scene for some years as well. His darkly foreboding sound is on full display across this 12“, featuring three clean-cut, impactful original productions and a remix by Len Faki’s Hardspace moniker.
Endless Love comes punching strong, carried by colleague Theo Nasa’s ominous spoken words and evolving stab synths textures. The remix strips back the vocals in favor of reduced frequencies, keeping the heat condensed and always ready to boil over.
On the flip, Honorio introduces his rolling high-energy machine funk, stacking elements around a hypnotic vocal loop and expertly playing the game of build and release. Closer B2 showcases a different style, using subdued dubby chords to craft a dreamy ride that is at once powerful and deep.

Pampa's favourite Barnhus boy returns to the label fold, and his previous episode is no easy act to follow: 2010 was the year, Holy Love was the name, and "Purple Drank" the undeniable track of the year; it captured the dancefloor zeitgeist with its sultry tempo, and created an classic with its instantly recognizable vocal. While he last left us falling down the rabbit hole, Axel Boman's newest concern is upward, forward, accelerated motion. "1979" cool-toned and pensive take on classic downtempo deep house. It holds on to the necessary bare banes of percussion, but surrounds it with light touches and a soothing pastoral feel. Time is taken and moments have room to breathe, in this meditative exploration of gently shifting moods. "Nokturn (Grand Finale)" is carnivalesque in the grandest sense, with endless movement via its dominant percussion pattern. Its looping background is perpetually primed for take off, building in intensity as the Latin rhythms preoccupy the shoulders and hips. A double bass phrase minimalist bass loop takes care of the low end groove, and together with glimpses of vintage disco sounds, creates another surefire hit.

wAFF makes a triumphant return to Hot Creations after a seven-year hiatus with his three-track, groove-driven ‘Slapfunk EP’. Since his first outing back in 2012, wAFF has been an integral part of the Hot Creations family, remixing various releases and dropping a total of four EPs - the last being ‘Sick Pleasure’ in 2016, which still stands today as a highlight in the label’s extensive catalogue. Marking a long-awaited return to Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ beloved imprint after seven years, with material via renowned labels such as Solid Grooves, Cocoon, Desolat and his very own NATURE imprint over that period further establishing him as a leading name, he arrives fresh from his third Paradise show of the season ready to ignite dancefloors with a trio of irresistible beats on ‘Slapfunk’. Title track ‘Slapfunk’ opens the release with shifting stabs, warping bass patterns and fizzing lead synths, steadily progressing into a menacing club-focused workout. Continuing his signature style, ‘Questions’ showcases a blend of pulsating beats synchronised with a warped vocal topline that enhances the allure. Finally, ‘Next Game’ delivers a punchy trip loaded with subtle minimal-leaning influences, combining chopped vocal snippets with slick, stripped-back percussion.

Nachthorn takes its name from one of the 78 stops that make up the main organ in St. Antonius Church in Düsseldorf. This instrument, equipped with a system developed by the German company Sinua, offers the possibility of controlling all of its keyboards and timbres via a computer. The organ thus becomes a powerful synthesiser. This set-up allowed me to fulfil an old dream of mine : to create an entirely acoustic dance music piece with the organ as sole actor. Oscillating between dub techno, harmonic locked grooves or after-hours pop, Nachhorn proposes a hypnotic music piece whose lines sketch the outline of an imaginary warehouse.

Oliver Bradford presents Pacific Objectives, his first solo EP under his own name. Bradford has been producing electronic experimental and dance music since the early 90s when he held his first DJ residency at Brückenkopf, Mainz (in 1992-93). To create his deep house grooves Oliver utilizes a hands-on approach, working with tape loops and analogue recording tools. The tracks featured on Pacific Objectives were recorded between 1996 and 2021, after nd_baumecker signed them to be released on his FREUNDINNEN label, the tracks were mixed and mastered with Jörn E. Wuttke, at the final stage Loop-O created the vinyl master and cut in 2023.
