Having previously collaborated as SYT for releases on Sabres of Paradise and also having had releases on Hard Hands, DJ Scott James and producer, writer and musician Chris Hayne teamed up once again forming Sound Virus to share their more esoteric dancefloor visions. 'Swirl' was originally appeared in 1995, a limited vinyl only release on their own imprint Lux Recordings, First up 'Follow Your Feet' opens with haunting synths that lead into razor sharp percussion and a forceful b-line that drives the track to a mesmeric peak, whilst a repetitive vocoded vocal stirs the electro soul. 'Continuum' heads off into electo-tech territory, defty programmed breakbeats underpin the filthiest of bass lines making this track a true dancefloor devastator. 'Swirl' takes a deeper approach, with pumping bass and driving beats supporting lush chords and a subtle, chiming synth riff. It is another essential 12' that packs in plenty of heat from the long-time UK favourite. His records are hard to find and expensive when you do and this collection highlights some of his superbly blended acid, dub, tech and house grooves from back between 1997 and 2004. On this one, you will find a pair of weighty, warm, and dubbed out tech cuts with bounce in the drums and Detroit soul in the pads. Timeless stuff. More

With releases on Sabres of Paradise and Hard Hands under their collective belts, and following the success of the 'Swirl' EP, Scott James and Chris Hayne unleashed the second instalment of their Sound Virus project 'Inverted Frequencies'. Originally released in limited quantities on their own Lux Recordings label in 1995, this rarity has become in demand to DJs, taste-makers and collectors the World over. The 'Eerie Horn Mix' kicks off proceedings, soaring strings rise above an incessant bass, the percussion bumps and a potent synth riff takes this mix to another level. Next up, the 'Inverted Mix' goes deeper. Subtle delicate melodies are intertwined with emotive chords and dubbed out piano stabs that really lift the spirits.

The second part of Sushitech's three-part vinyl-only series looking at the work of Dexter is another 12" doozy. The UK underground mainstay has been behind many cult and much sought-after records over the years and they all fuse obscure dub and acid tech house in smart ways. They were recorded between 1997-2004 and if you can find any OGs then you will be paying upwards of 100 quid for them. This slab has three driving but deep sounds carefully detailed with wispy pads and filtered vocals for perfect backroom deployment. More

Filling out the EP are two mixes of "Catalytic," a tune that came to life after the muffler on Jexy's 2003 Toyota went kaput. More

Producer and live artist Dold jumps into KEY Vinyl with fibrillating, fully charged rollers. With a potently effective gear on both sides, the Swedish artist proposes a cluster of proper loopy peak time material.

Welcoming us into the Dold realm is Loop 1, serving some big room shunts and non-invasive waterfalls of bleeps. Shakers step in to round up the atmosphere and shortly after, hats come through guiding us on track with the rhythm. Loop 2 heads into orbit powered by a macabre atmosphere and heavy pendulous bassline- a KEY trademark.

And then comes the flip side... Oh the flip side... Here we are launched into a void of hypnotic repetition and mind-bending, deep brain stimulators. In the midst of plangent sonic devices, B1's groove appears more
reserved as quivering synth tones pirouette between labyrinthine, metallic whirrs. Yet, the undulating bass locks our
feet in a pacing, rhythmic spiral. With Loop 3 the mind is allowed to float into abstracted, mystical soundscapes as the body is coaxed into the rumbles of the low ends. B2 closes off the ride with a joyful, dubbed out Detroit funk. Panned arpeggios fill the room with positivity- it will be impossible not to smile.
