Pressed on the classic "LT Records" centres, Nice Archive Traxx Vol. 1 is a lesson in raw, hissing house from the Concrete resident and one of France's finest new talents.
Stronger Than Me has been bothering mixes & radio for a good year now and takes pride of place on the A1. Skipped snares, wailing sax and clear vocal hits slot together around an NY house core. You Don't Really Want Me heats up the production just that bit more on the grill and adds in some serious Chi-town acidic flavour. 303's running riot from the midway.
On the B, Raw Thoughts takes a similarly blown-out production sensibility and drives it straight into laid-back electro territory. Elements of boogie spliced with sultry synth soloing and glacial pad ripples. Ice cream parlour chill jams.

Having closed 2011 with the celebrated release of his own "Rules Of Madness" LP, Dissonant's boss Marc Antona looks to start 2012 with a flourish by welcoming German rising talent tINI to the label, with her very first release outside of her regular Desolat home. Since joining the Desolat family back in 2008 we have seen tINI grow impressively as both artist and DJ. Her first foray into the world of production came in the form of 2009's "That's Right", part of the Desolat X Sampler, which perfectly showcased the brand of twisted deep funk that she spins on her
floors. Since then its been a whirlwind for Munich born tINI. Having supported Marco Carola on his worldwide Album tour, held residencies at Ibiza's Ushuaia, Italy's Cocorico and London's Fuse nights, she has also been aboard the nonstop freight train that is 'life' of the touring DJ. Whilst this may have gone some way to explaining the absence of any music, until her remix of Manon's "Que Cara E Essa" in May of last year, we are now all too well aware that tINI's studio time was being more than well spent on the creation of her debut long-player, "Tessa." Released in October the album found critical acclaim from both DJ's and Dance Press alike and after creating such a personal collection of 'moments', tINI proclaimed that she was now looking to explore new sounds and inspirations. "Smooh's Raisin Theory", her debut for Dissonant, is the first of tINI's new productions and whilst the freshness of a new moment is evident in this funk driven number, her youth as a drummer and the early influences of a certain Moodymann, can all be heard in the warm rhythms of the original. Label boss Marc Antona takes the original on a trip with his 'Outback' Mix. It's not only islands that need to be travelled to: developing a sound is a true journey, and one's changing environments naturally play a role in that evolution. tINI, formerly of Munich, now resides in Berlin. Her version of house music is still representative of her electrifying, wired-up DJ sets, but there's a new spaciousness and urban gleam to these moods, filtered through the more laid back, surreal atmospheres of the island of Ibiza, where the majority of the album was produced.
Tessa kicks off with "Divided" as a statement of intent: this is no formulaic house music, but rather something personal and idiosyncratic. A contemplative mood sets the scene for gentle off-kilter palpitations. "Blonde Galipette" settles into the groove, with plenty of delay on rhythmic elements as a robotic interpretation of lonely shipyard sounds, and a growing tide of bass. "Mine Has A Shower" is a wink to the adopted spaces and unlikely comrades of an island dedicated to music; while "All The Good Stuff" is a tongue in cheek salute, referencing the tales told to new friends in the deepest hours of the morning.
You can tell that tINI had fun making this music - and that it has unfolded, as a testament to her experiences.
She says, "For me a song is like my very own diary. My way to express my feelings in that very moment: from absolute joy to deepest melancholy." Tracks like "My Shine", "Canta la Testoasa" and "Maria, Louise and Bert" bolster the album with relaxed dancefloor vibes, while "Triptease" veers slightly closer to a boompty house pattern. "tINI Meets Jack - Medusa" brings an uplifting snap, "Monkey's Cave" simmers and "Fail Better" unspools some compelling minimal house vibes. Lastly, on "Someone Loves You", tINI's debut Ibiza season wraps to a close with that same contemplative mood.

Aside and forefront club-track, “Mandala,” carries itself through chugging shakers and pad-work, held tightly in place by the squelchy, off-kilter lead. The tune never quite sits still, bubbling about by each percolating percussive layer. Backed by what was jokingly coined the “California Garage Track,” “Eistee” is at best the chiller-fitting you would want. Jacking percussion and complimenting drum

After being marooned in a small beach town in Brazil at the start of the pandemic, California-born Gene On Earth eventually made it home to Berlin. As the reality of the global situation sunk in, he set to work on his second album, working in an obsessive daily rhythm. After gathering an arsenal of samples and inspiration he returned to the studio for 5 months of feverish work. Set for release on June 3rd via his own imprint Limousine Dream, ‘Time on The Vine’ is a slick record delivered with the laid-back warmth of a producer at the top of his game. Breezy yet assured, its wonky minimal rhythms are as feel good as they are fun, a perfect antidote to the long and waning pandemic that birthed them.

After having met Mathias ‚Kapote‘ Modica, creative mind behind Germany’s well respected Toy Tonics label three years ago, East London born Cody Currie understood Kapote and his international TT Crew have the perfect understanding for his talents and share the same visions and so Cody joined the TT crew and released three EPs with the German label. Now finally he steps up to present his highly anticipated debut album ‘Lucas’. The 14 track LP is set for release 21 October 2022 with a string of pre-singles to drop until then.
The roots of Cody’s artistry runs deep, hailing from Leytonstone in East London by his father a fashion designer and his Spanish mother a music writer, it was inevitable that Cody would follow suit in the world of creativity. The past few years has found Cody in the midst of a fresh, unique buzz taking over Europe, predominantly in Berlin and London, as he bridges the gap between jazz and house music with his energetic DJ sets, talented instrumental skills and effortless swag. Playing the big Toy Tonics Jam happening all over Europe and similar to other artists on the TT label ‘connecting the dots’ between live and electronic music has garnered Cody a range of support in the press and radio world with fans including Pete Tong, Rolling Stone, Jamz Supernova, Mixmag and Gilles Peterson, with some journalists describing him as ‘The Tom Misch of jazzy house’.
This debut album, like his EPs, represents the new essence of jazz burgeoning out of London’s youth scene of today. Cody doesn't use any samples, only live instruments, vocals and great chord combinations, a nod towards his music school studies in London before moving over to Berlin. Like most of the other artists on Toy Tonics and similar to Kapote himself, Cody comes from playing jazz piano and playing in bands and combines this real musician’s attitude and knowledge with his skills as an electronic producer and extremely talented DJ/selector. This combination of background and skills create that unique sound that Cody (and many Toy Tonics artists) have.
On Lucas, Cody defines his work by enjoying the collaborative process with other talented artists such as Eliza Rose and Ziggy (Freedom Zeitgeist Energy Exchange), as well as some of Cody’s close personal friends like Jitwam, Ally McMahon, Andreas Kon and more. Currie comments on the album saying:
“Lucas LP is a collection of tracks which I've either done myself around the world recording in different places, or collaborating with my friends. The music reflects my enjoyment of the musical process and I'd say it’s inspired a lot by George Duke and Frank Zappa, the disco and funkier stuff from the 70s and 80s. Some of the tracks are quite deep and introspective, whilst other ones are more fun and silly like ‘That Stick’. Legendary producer Dave Lee returns as AC Soul Symphony with the “Metamorphosis” LP - his most ambitious
production project in his 35-year career.
With an inimitable CV and discography that includes over a thousand production credits to his name, hundreds of singles
under renowned pseudonyms including Joey Negro, and three UK top 40 hits as Jakatta, Dave Lee is one of the UK’s
most revered producers of disco and house music, defining each genre with a signature sound. Always looking to push
the boundaries of what it means to make music, his latest project sees Dave return to one of his lesser-known pseudonyms
– AC Soul Symphony – to deliver an epic disco record that takes the sound back to its roots in every way possible.
“A few years ago, I produced a remake of David Shire’s orchestral disco masterpiece Manhattan Skyline under
the alias of AC Soul Symphony. I really enjoyed reworking that classic track in a way that retained my favourite
parts of the original but also writing new musical sections that gave it more my own flavour.”
Comprising 15 beautifully arranged disco tracks that effortlessly span almost two hours, “Metamorphosis” is an album by
definition, but at its core, much more than that – it is a labour of love, meticulously composed, arranged and crafted through
a very tangible and human creative process which is unmatched by many modern producers.
“I do it because I love the process of creating something. My aim is to come up with an end result I genuinely
think I’d want to buy, play and listen to if it wasn’t me.”
Inspired by happy memories from the golden era of TV and the soundtracks of his favourite childhood shows,
“Metamorphosis” was borne of a desire to put the strings center stage and “I thought making a whole album of this mainly instrumental, string heavy, tv theme like music would be a really
enjoyable project and one that would play to my strengths as a producer. It was also slightly new territory
musically and a bit of challenge.”
Taking disco back to a physical place, “Metamorphosis” was an organic writing process that saw Dave lay down his ideas
digitally, before reshaping the MIDI strings into a proper arrangement and recording them live with a 20-piece orchestra at
RAK Studios. By his own admission, it is an album of pure indulgence, but by relying on digital production methods, it can
be easy to lose sight of the soul that makes music such a unifying entity. Backing up the immaculate strings with catchy
vocals and enough groove to level a discotheque, it’s this soulful energy that Dave has captured and expertly delivered
with “Metamorphosis”.

With its screen-printed cover and limited edition it was a tribute to a format and culture dear to our hearts: Vinyl. Our intention was to keep releasing records in this style, with songs already mixed, mastered and ready to fly. Had we known it would take three years to get the next EPs out we would probably have reconsidered everything. Series of strange incidents, accidents and negligence made us think this project was cursed but the music felt too important to us to let it go. We kept working to get it out and now we finally arrive with two "new" EPs: Melbourne Bolero and Bosco/Bosca. This is classic Talaboman; Chuggy, hypnotic, dub flavoured Latin-Scando house music, released on vinyl with beautiful screen-printed covers designed by DR.ME in Manchester. “I do it because I love the process of creating something. My aim is to come up with an end result I genuinely
think I’d want to buy, play and listen to if it wasn’t me.”
Inspired by happy memories from the golden era of TV and the soundtracks of his favourite childhood shows,
“Metamorphosis” was borne of a desire to put the strings center stage and “I thought making a whole album of this mainly instrumental, string heavy, tv theme like music would be a really
enjoyable project and one that would play to my strengths as a producer. It was also slightly new territory
musically and a bit of challenge.”
Taking disco back to a physical place, “Metamorphosis” was an organic writing process that saw Dave lay down his ideas
digitally, before reshaping the MIDI strings into a proper arrangement and recording them live with a 20-piece orchestra at
RAK Studios. By his own admission, it is an album of pure indulgence, but by relying on digital production methods, it can
be easy to lose sight of the soul that makes music such a unifying entity. Backing up the immaculate strings with catchy
vocals and enough groove to level a discotheque, it’s this soulful energy that Dave has captured and expertly delivered
with “Metamorphosis”.
