New Zealand disco-boogie outfit Flamingo Pier plant some Brooklyn roots with their fresh new ‘Beneath the Neon EP’ on Razor-N-Tape. Known for parties in East London and their massive hometown festival, as well as previous releases on Soundway, the Kiwi collective deliver a trio of new songs that solidify and expand their signature danceable blue-eyed indie-soul sound.

Lead off single 'How 2 Feel' shows a clubbier side of the band, with a pulsating house rhythm track and layers of angular synth stabs, vibey horn lines, and vocal chants. 'Beneath the Neon' and 'Remedy' are more familiar Flamingo Pier territory, upbeat indie disco anthems that boast incendiary vocal hooks, funky guitar work, and crisp production by Luke Walker.

Rounding out the EP are remixes by Chicago house legend Glenn Underground, and RNT co-head JKriv, whose mix features a guest appearance by Afro-boogie royalty Steve Monite.

Oozing with hazy sun, Beneath the Neon is the perfect soundtrack to soak up the dog days of summer.

Kerri’s Kaoz Theory label unlocks the vault to two key tracks from the early days of the label that have never pressed on vinyl before.

First up the man himself, Kerri Chandler with a deep, heads down stomper ‘Who’s Afraid Of The Dark’. Kerri at his hard hitting best, as vocal refrains wash over the chunkiest of synth stabs and basslines with crunched up percussion laying the basis for a track that is readymade for smoke filled clubs and pumping sound systems.

We are back with an artist whose tracks you’ve been hearing in the sets of the most free spirited and forward thinking DJs: None other than Bufiman has joined the catalog of Cómeme with a fantastic release: original,modern, and irresistibly danceable. 5 tracks featuring B- Boy Rhythms, outer space fantasy and dance floor utopia – in a way you’ve never heard this exceptional artist before. Since 15 years he’s a resident at Düsseldorf’s legendary “Salon des Amateurs” and has released on other wonderful labels such as Versatile,Safe Trip Records, Dekmantel Records and Fasaan Recordings – and under his other alias “Wolf Müller” on Themes for Great Cities, Growing Bin Records and International Feel. Due to living in a small flat with too many neighbors, childhood Jan could not pursue his dream of playing the drums, so he started to work with drum breaks on a program on Windows 95. Since around 25 years he’s now collecting drum samples, however you won’t hear any of these on this record. During the pandemic, Bufiman had to change his approach. Unable to work, due to the ban of all dance events he found a job opportunity as a night shift caregiver in a small town near Düsseldorf. This meant that he had to sit in a bus for at least three hours a day. To kill time somehow, he took out his Nintendo Switch portable game console and stumbled across Korg Gadget: a modern music program that he never particularly liked.The many hours on the back seats of the bus changed his relationship with the app as it was his only way of shortening the hours of commuting. The “Switch Beats” EP is the result of this particular time in his life, and once again we see that marvelous things can happen, when your ways of creating are challenged in an unprecedented manner. Kerri Chandler delivers ‘Lost & Found Vol.1’ this March, a four-track collection of revisited, unreleased archive cuts, including Kerri’s own Grampa, Calvin Reed Sr. as a featuring artist on the opening track.

New Jersey’s Kerri Chandler has been at the forefront of house music since the beginning of his career in the early 90’s. Over the past three decades he’s released an extensive back catalogue of material including several albums on his own Madhouse and Kaoz Theory imprints as well as the likes of DJ Deep’s Deeply Rooted, Apollonia, Jerome Sydenham’s Ibadan and Watergate Records.

Here we see Kerri dig up some never before heard archived material from the 90’s and early 2000’s for this four-track EP. Up first is ‘What Will We Do ft Grampa’, featuring spoken word and vocal lines from Kerri’s Grandfather Calvin Reed St. atop gritty swinging drums, organ lines and rounded subs. ‘Tonight’ follows and tips focus over to airy chord sequences, choppy bass notes, dreamy arpeggio lines and dynamic drums.

‘Into The Night’ opens the b-side next, bringing a raw bass hook, tension building strings and vocal chants of the track’s title into the forefront while bumpy stripped-back drums keep things driving. ‘This and That’ then rounds out the release, bringing twitchy resonant synths and phaser sweeps into the mix alongside stuttering drum programming for a funk-infused, loop driven eight minute workout.

Bell Curve's new EP Obelisk for Berlin's SSPB provides a daring evolution of her soundworld, channeling the bristling intensity of her previous work into a more expansive headspace. Alongside six mesmerising new tracks from Bell Curve, the EP features a remix from Hessle Audio rising star Toumba. Obelisk compiles Bell Curve's most compelling and enthralling work to date. Reveling in dazzling repetition and delicate sonic nuance, it is a cathartic and defiant statement in an industry that increasingly demands hollow immediacy and caters to short attention spans - an homage to struggles and affirmation of strength and self-belief, while equally offering euphoric escape for those willing to spend time inside its mystic whorl. Club sonics are here plucked from their original contexts and expanded outwards - icy rave stabs on "Staircase" ascending into the heavens or the astral breaks and springy bass of "Hope It Gets Better". Subtle shifts in tone and texture guide the listener through the trip, reverb tails slowly extending into lysergic drift or rippling grain and feedback rising from pulsing bass tones. Jordanian producer Toumba amps up the tempo on his remix of "Staircase" while maintaining the original's emotional core, bolstering the track's dextrous rhythms with distinctive Levantine timbres. Obelisk captures a constant push and pull between emotional states - from anxiety and melancholy to joy and euphoria, working through turmoil to find transcendence. Tracks like "Dance Skeleton Dance" particularly invoke this duality, drawing catharsis from darker sonics, reconfiguring bass pressure and anxious percussion into a humid dancehall stepper. "Without U" contains emotional struggle as part of the very circumstances of its making - written while working through heartbreak, its delicate repetitions and searching tone reflecting the process of reconnecting with oneself. Title track "Obelisk" forms the emotional core of the EP, coalescing from weightless vapors into dramatic synthesizer motifs, evoking euphoric memories of complete immersion on the dancefloor and our ability to find ecstatic experience even in the contemporary hellscape.
