tracklist:
A1. FMsquared [royal wavetable mellodies A] B1. good endgar
A2. copperfeel B2. FMsquared [epiloggy] [beauvine bonus perc version]
A3. WSsquared [royal wavetable mellodies B] B3. LANsqape4 [short_oneTake]
short info:
Brainwaltzera returns to FILM with a brace of archive recordings in the artist's characteristically idiosyncratic style.
The collection opens with FMsquared [royal wavetable mellodies A], a mesmerizing beatless composition split across two contrasting movements. Synth-focused, the first explores a more introspective tone whilst the second is decidedly more elevated and playful. Follow up good endgar showcases the artist's enviable talent for crafting rolling, wide-open IDM, marrying crisp drum machine hits with washed out pads and a resonant bassline. WSsquared [royal wavetable mellodies B] follows the same pattern as mellodies A, split once again into two movements. This time each movement is markedly more distinct: the first, an atmospheric, half-time dirge and the second a more uplifting and esoteric workout, with crystalline FX breaking up the composition. On LANsqape4 [short_oneTake] Brainwaltzera lets the drums roll out, underpinning more lush synth work with a hint of a break closing in as the piece subsides near its close. Copperfeel, the penultimate offering, is the most reduced work in the collection with a single main melody doing the bulk of the legwork, and buoyed by vocal-sounding synths. FMsquared [epiloggy] [beauvine bonus perc version] closes the collection, a pleasing bookend that sees the riff from the opening track's latter movement return - now underpinned with rolling drums.

Brainwaltzera - A. medal headz [G.B.D.F] Peshay Remix
2
Brainwaltzera - B1. medal headz [extended]

Brainwaltzera - B2. G.B.D.F [separated]
TRACKLIST:
A1: medal headz [G.B.D.F] Peshay Remix
B1: medal headz [extended]
B2: G.B.D.F [separated]
SHORT INFO:
Brainwaltzera gets the remix treatment from stalwart of UK underground music, Peshay, alongside alternate versions of original material.
Taking on Medal Headz [G.B.D.F.], lifted from the recent Brainwaltzera LP Itsame, British drum & bass producer Peshay turns in a driving remix in a classic UK style. Rolling breaks meet a heady reese bassline and wide-angle atmospherics, put together with all the aplomb of a skilled craftsman doing what he does best. It's music made for the dancefloor, delivered in a timeless style by one of the heads of the early Good Looking Records & Metalheadz years.
On the B1, Brainwaltzera takes the reigns with an extended version of the original album piece - a valuable reminder of the impressive source material, reimagined in a new context. For the B2, the artist offers a previously interconnected phase of Medal Headz [G.B.D.F.] up as a track in its own right. A spellbinding IDM reduction, it's wrought with all manner of synth flourishes, elegant drum machine rhythms, and warping synths - a neat closer that offers a new and intriguing approach to an LP highlight.

short Info:
Brainwaltzera's debut LP "Poly-ana" follows quickly on the heels of the producer's Aescoba EP - also released this year via FILM.
Across thirteen tracks of both previously released material and fresh excursions into the artist's world, Brainwaltzera explores sounds ranging from luscious, downtempo grooves and expertly reduced braindance cuts with nods to early 90's experimental IDM to harder, more caustic outings - all bound together by a recurring theme of otherworldly ambience.
Taking its name from a variety of sources dear to the artist, including polyphonic analogue synthesizers and the Pol-lyanna Principle itself - a theory that suggests individuals recall pleasurable experience more acutely than displeasing ones - the title represents a meeting point in the artistic process between creative method and conceptual choices.
Production techniques range from more traditional hardware synthesis to the incorporation of a modified dot matrix printer acting as a modulation source for MIDI parameters. Sample sources include VHS material from the produ-cer's own childhood and ambient Bullet Train samples from an on-the-fly production session traveling from Tokyo to Kyoto.
According to the enigmatic producer, memory and its fundamental role in the human experience is one of the central themes of the record. While the artist's own experiences shaped the sound of the record, there is no attempt to impose them on the listener through blatant exposition. This is also evident in the artwork, which provides an identity and bold referential outline but, much like a coloring book, leaves the colors, tones and shades to others.
In the same vein, the concept suggests that particular stimuli such as sound or scent, can transport an individual back to a particular point in their life. Scent has long been identified as the most efficient agent for this phenomenon, pro-viding perhaps the most visceral form of "braintravel". With this in mind, a unique fragrance was engineered, from the ground up, by creative director Mario Lombardo's Atelier Oblique brand, exclusively for the album's physical release. This was designed to act as a vehicle to assist the listener in retaining the first experience of hearing the record and to act as a future trigger - transporting the individual back to that moment.
Brainwaltzera's work has quickly found plaudits amongst a host of industry tastemakers and artists alike - not least Aphex Twin himself, who has appeared sporadically online with comments praising the music via his now infamous user18081971 Soundcloud account. BBC6's Tom Ravenscroft has already named the Aescoba EP amongst his Best of 2017 So Far, whilst underground heavyweights Eclair Fifi (LuckyMe) and Oliver Hafenbauer (Live At Robert Johnson) have declared themselves fans.
Mature and wonderfully executed, the Poly-ana LP represents some of the finest recent work within the genre, and yet another noteworthy addition to the FILM discography.

On his sophomore album “ITSAME” on FILM, Brainwaltzera navigates the turbulent waters
of personal crossroads with cautious optimism for an uncertain future.
Drawing comparisons with his debut full-length "Poly-Ana", an equally introspective album
that explores broader conceptual themes, the artist hesitantly describes the new record as a
very personal affair. Acting as a kind of “journal” of the last four years of his life, each of
the 17 tracks directly relate to events and experiences that transpired during their

Release Info:
Brainwaltzera returns to FILM.
The shrouded producer continues to demonstrate a breadth of skill as both a musician and engineer, with another collection of deep and textured recordings for the FILM label, intended as an "Epi-Log" to the artist's debut album Poly-Ana.
Continuing the exploration of crystalline IDM, proto-Electro, Ambient and other curious strains of left-field music, Brainwaltzera looks out across a colourful and varied sonic landscape, drawing on a wealth of classic influences all the while maintaining that unique and instantly recognisable finish.
Low slung 4/4 opener Triangulate Dither (fairytall Version) hinges on fathoms deep synth work, moving about a playful hook that operates in stark contrast to the track’s heavy, tape distorted finish. Laif Of Smit touches on new territory - a nod to contemporary Beats production, complete with pitch shifted vocal and heady, warping bassline - before beatless recording [take 2] brings the listener back into a more familiar space: a beautiful ambient segue reminiscent of the producer’s earlier productions on the label. Countdempops showcases Brainwaltzera’s simple yet effective drum work - a perfectly executed, emotive cut centred around a dusty break. Bad Endgar focuses more on the high frequencies - a crisp, clean Electro production, featuring those signature sliding synths now a characteristic of the producer’s music. Uptempo closer Dropp on Gminor rounds off the EP with a kind of Folk meets Footwork piece that lifts the record’s final notes into a tentatively more euphoric state.
Heavy on atmosphere, rich in inherent musicality and beautifully executed - the Brainwaltzera journey continues with another solid offering on the FILM label.

The EP draws from across the brainwaltzera 's enviable discography, including reinterpretations of recordings fea-tured on the recently released poly-ana album, which received plaudits from underground dance music hea-vyweights.
The Brainwaltzera remix EP offers wholly personal interpretations of the original material, but the music remains true to the artists own production aesthetic, with nods to classic Electro, IDM and Minimal Synth.
Andrea Noce aka Eva Geist takes on Kurzweil Dame, lifted from the poly-ana LP. Gently shifting the work from it's 4x4 rhythm to a decidedly eccentric half time dub pulse, the Fleeting Wax affiliate augments the reductivist drums of the original with her own snappy perc hits, eeking out a new, beautifully arcane energy from the source material.
Newcomer Ignazz arrives with little more than a handful of Soundcloud uploads to his name. The producer flips Marzipan (leftovers) to great effect - transforming the original from blissed out IDM into a classic Electro cut with considerable poise.
Luke Vibert and newcomer Guavid turn to Brainwaltzera's Aescoba EP for their picks, both choosing to rework 10_muddy_puddle Trot, a choice cut from the artist's recent discography. On his reimagining, the AFX co-conspirator holds on to the original hook - but loses the classic break that arrives in the latter part of the EP highlight, opting for caustic zaps and a driven, high energy drum machine rhythm to buoy up the piece, while Guavid draws for straight dance-floor science - injecting a heavy dose of funk into the package, pitting bleeping acid lines against characteristically emotive pad work.
Philipp Otterbach closes proceedings with a blissed out proto-Ambient rework of triangulate Dither - a heady Tech-no cut from the LP. Focusing on the more atmospheric facets of the original, Otterbach presents an extended and wonderfully psychedelic reimagining of one of Brainwaltzera's more direct recordings.
A rich and carefully curated remix package, the Brainwaltzera remix EP successfully arrives at the complex space between intelligent Electronic music and the dance-floor, and pays appropriate homage to a producer of considerable ability.

Mature and wonderfully executed, the Poly-ana LP represents some of the finest recent work within the genre, and yet another noteworthy addition to the FILM discography.

brainwaltzera debuts on FILM.
The anonymous producer, whose work has has already received online approval from legendary british IDM auteur aphex twin, offers up an extended EP for the berlin based imprint.
In 2015 a soundcloud profile under the name user18081971 - now identified as belonging to richard d. james, commented on curious brainwaltzera upload quilat spring 1 [outtake]. the move prompted speculation as to who exactly is behind the music. exquisitely produced and executed in such fine fashion so as to decry pure imitation - there's plenty to theorise here.
regardless of their true creator - which will undoubtedly remain a secret for the time being, the compositions on FILM006 are of similarly high calibre. Varied in approach and marrying both electronic & acoustic elements with ease, the six tracks that comprise the record range from yearning ambient segues and dreamy down tempo grooves to otherworldly krautrock and more direct, dance floor fare - but remain bound tight as a cohesive and functional body of work by a glorious, arcane musicality. whether weaving soft electronic tones in and amongst snappy breaks or detuned drum-machine strikes, the artist's ear for acoustic harmony is perhaps the pervading theme across the six tracks that make up the aecoba EP, marking it out as an excellent addition to the FILM label's growing catalogue.

On his sophomore album “ITSAME” on FILM, Brainwaltzera navigates the turbulent waters
of personal crossroads with cautious optimism for an uncertain future.
Drawing comparisons with his debut full-length Poly-Ana , an equally introspective album
that explores broader conceptual themes, the artist hesitantly describes the new record as a
very personal affair.

Release Info:
Utopia Cloak arrives on FILM with six track EP, Marina Gardens.
Utilising both electronic & acoustic components, the British producer crafts hazy, dynamic electronica with a decidedly emotive bent. The music explores a curious production aesthetic - at once half sunk and at the same time gloriously crisp and direct. Caustic drum machine hits underpin the majority of the work, compete with polyrhythmic rolls & glitches, while softly warping synth lines occupy the majority of the remaining sonic space.
Rather than working explicitly with nostalgia, Utopia Cloak makes more subtle references to the classic sounds of yore - riffing on Downtempo & IDM with gentle and considered nuance, eking out arcane hooks & rich melodies with a pleasing focus on compositional structure & songcraft.
Contrast is the key here, though - and Utopia Cloak works hard to find the balance between metallic per-cussion strikes and wide-angle instrumental elements, avoiding chaos in favour of a lush, rewarding lis-tening experience.

Keshavara - Creators Of Rain Feat. Gío

Keshavara - Creators Of Rain Feat. Gío (Legowelt Remix)
high quality sleeve - with pearl paint varnish
Tracklist:
A1: Creators of Rain (feat. Gío)
B1: Creators of Rain (feat. Gío) (Legowelt Remix)
Keshavara debuts on FILM.
Taking it's influence from downtempo Alt-Pop and Hip Hop, but with nods to blissed out Dub and World Music - the Indian producer arrives on the Berlin based label with Creators of The Rain. Danny Wolfers takes control on the flip - turning in a gorgeous, transcendental remix under his Legowelt alias.
Live instrumentation provides the backbone of the work - dusty drums drive the music forward, complemented by shifting dub-guitar leads, off kilter bassline licks and delayed drum machine breaks. Singer Gio's vocals sit com-fortably at the back of the mix, soft but inviting - present but realised with a distinctly otherworldly energy. There's a fine, organic feel to the recording - ambient surface noise shifts and warps between elements, and live FX pop and duck in and amongst instrument strikes giving the work a rolling, hypnotic feel. It's a deep and fully realised piece of music - wonderfully three dimensional in it's execution, and a striking homage to the artist's wide frame of refer-ence.
On his remix, legendary synthesiser enthusiast Legowelt draws for a characteristically Sci-Fi finish, in keeping with the best of celebrated output for Clone, L.I.E.S., Creme Organisation and more. Maintaining the tempo of the origi-nal piece, but augmenting the work with a growling Reece bassline and hazy lead synths, the Dutch producer care-fully shifts Keshvara's recording up a gear. Where Creators of The Rain began life as a grooving, Hip Hop indebted piece of World Music - immediate but markedly laid-back in it's execution - Danny Wolfers injects a more anthemic, uplifting sentiment, highlighting the dub elements with a delayed drum machine line and pushing the vocals back with a touch of reverb to give his glorious synth-work space to breathe. It's a wonderful take on an already accom-plished piece of music; respectful but inspired - and no doubt some of the Hardware Occultist's finest work.

Brainwaltzera - Triangulate Dither (Philipp Otterbach Remix)
Remix ep in high quality sleeve - partial spot varnish, high glossed print.
FILM prep Brainwaltzera remix EP featuring Luke Vibert, Eva Geistt, Philipp Otterbach, Guavid and Ignazz.
Tracklist:
A1: muddy puddle trot (luke vibert remix)
A2: kurzweil dame (eva geist remix)
A3: muddy puddle trot (guavid remix)
B1: marzipan leftovers (ignazz remix)
B2: triangulate dither (philipp otterbach remix)

A1: contour & shape
A2: aka manto
A3: altercations of controlled aggression
B1: onryo
B2: aka manto (red version)
B3: goryo
B4: and their cunts smell like modafini
short Info:
shadowy multidisciplinary artist & videographer denial.of.service returns to FILM for an extended EP of wrought iron electronics, channeling the spirit of classic electro, Industrial & Noise.
the artist, active since the 1980's producing video work for a host of high profile names - including not least david bowie, currently transmits sporadically from an undisclosed location, though contemporary work has appeared on the creators project, as well as making the vimeo staff picks on an almost regular basis. recently, video commissions for minimal wave & jealous god affiliate In aeternam vale have ap-peared online, showcasing the artist's trademark crushed, hallucinatory visual aesthetic.
If 2015's sensou EP communicated a more brooding, emotive side to denial.of.service - then contour & shape works in stark contrast. the palette remains relatively unchanged, with the 808 providing the back-bone for most of the compositions, paired with the same warped vox and heady synth leads - but this time around the production aesthetic is harsh and abrasive and there's a powerful, burning immediacy to the work. gone are the delicate, introspective leads & gently saturated drums, and in their place bursts of caustic, high energy noise and twisted drum machine strikes - and though much of the more tentatively dance floor material sticks to a stepping half time rhythm, 4x4 moments make a welcome appearance.
contour & shape is bold and direct - a thunderous, high-energy salvo from a true creative with a rich and unique electronic music heritage.

brainwaltzera debuts on FILM.

Marvin Horsch - Negobebo#2
special remarks : 140g vinyl, inside out cover
Tracklist:
A1: omnisession#1
A2: sun after rain
B1: negobebo#2
short Info:
marvin horsch debuts on Berlin's FILM with an EP of exquisitely produced, cinematic electronica.
the cologne based producer develops the colourful house found on previous work for the dorfjungs la-bel, with three playful compositions that draw as much on jazz and krautrock as more contemporary strains of alternative electronic music.
opener 'omnisession#1' marries a beautifully shifting organ with live drum work before segueing into the glorious softness of 'sun after rain,' a rich synth solo drenched in tape hiss. closer 'negobebo#2' wraps up the EP - an energetic, looping recording replete with staccato drum-machine strikes and warm, wet verbs carrying a spirited lead across it's six minute duration.
An honest record, open and expertly executed - fukushisha is an admirable addition to the FILM cata-logue.
- very good 5/5 feedback attached from Gerd Janson, Tim Sweeny, Axel Boman ,Benjo B etc

A1: Grandbrothers "Newton`s Cradle" (FaltyDL Remix)
A2: Grandbrothers "Studie V" (Grand Optimist Remix)
B1: Grandbrothers "Prologue" (Djrum Remix)
B2: Grandbrothers "Neon" (Portable Sunsets Remix)
Shortinfo:
Following the excellently received Dilation LP on FILM, the duo return to the Berlin based imprint for a remix package featuring FaltyDL, Grand Optimist, Djrum & Portable Sunsets.
Erol Sarp & Lukas Vogel's ingenious use of the grand piano has won them many plaudits over the years. Working solely with the sounds of the grand piano and a set of 20 self-built hammers hitting the piano on different parts - filtered & warped in an extraordinary fashion, the pair craft dense, rousing music - kept fresh & current with nods to IDM, ambient & techno.
As such, the original recordings are fertile ground for remix opportunities, and the FILM label call on a who's who of left-field electronica to reimagine the work.
NYC native FaltyDL takes on Newtons Cradle, flipping the original and turning in a stepping, psychedelic slice of half time proto-Footwork while both Phillip Otterbach, operating under his Grand Optimist alias, and 2nd Drop's Djrum offer tripping, ambient reinterpretations. 1080p's Portable Sunsets reimagines key LP cut Neon as fuzzy beach house jam, reseting the original & eeking out a wholly different energy with driven drum machine hits & a soothing vox line.

Tracklisting:

B1 Ezra Was Right (Kim Brown Iron Rave Remix)
B2 Ezra Was Right (Greg Wilson & Derek Kaye Remix)
Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel are Grandbrothers.
All their music is composed and recorded on the grand piano. Erol plays the keys, while Lukas creates the beat by using small self-made and programmed hammers that hit the grand piano. He captures these sounds on the computer, then manipulates and loops them.
With this setup they create highly analogue cinematic sound-scapes and tracks made for the dancefloor. Grandbrothers track ‘Ezra Was Right’ has become a part of Gilles Peterson’s recent DJ sets and his radio show ‘Worldwide’ on BBC. Peterson also nominated the song for his ‘track of the year 2013’ award. While ‘Ezra Was Right’ is more downbeat, ’Notbrause’ is highly suitable to be mixed straight into a proper house set. The EP comes with an ‘Ezra Was Right’ remix by the edit-master Greg Wilson and his partner Derek Kaye.
Additional remixes were contributed by Berlin’s finest Kim Brown and Glasgow underground legend JD Twitch from Optimo.

CJ Bolland - Camargue

CJ Bolland - Tokyo
1992 was a wild year. For planet earth. For humanity. People desired for escapism, and some producers just had the jive they yearned for. Endless kick drum excitement under a roof of strings. Up there in clap heaven, the chords fly candid, and all that hi-hat suspense fashions bliss. These dancers met an angel, circulating eternally towards the strobe. Oh, how they wished all that trance never ends in 1993, when CJ Bolland, one of the most influential and successful producers Belgium created in the nineties, dropped “Camargue”. An instant trance techno classic. Atemporal, abnormal, amoral. Raved together with British producer Cisco Ferreira for Belgium’s finest R&S records. Both worked on many sensual club music artworks together. Like “Tokyo”, the B-Site with an A-Note. Tripping fast, more hi-hat ecstasy, techno kicks, somewhere Goa is in there. Those where the 1990ees. Those days in fast pace. Blissed with trance of techno glam.

Release Notes:
Yes! Tommy Guerrero’s revered Return Of The Bastard gets its first ever vinyl reissue. Endearingly simple but beautifully beguiling, it's lo-fi dusty break business with the most elegant guitars this side of Vini Reilly and Gabor Szabo. Tommy's breezy drum-machine guitar-soul should be prescribed to soothe an aching world. By rights, he should also be a Balearic god. Here's 14 tracks of drop-dead laconic beauty, all of them combining to create this unheralded masterpiece. Working with Tommy directly, the LP has been fully remastered and sounds as dazzlingly, heartbreakingly beautiful as it did back in 2007.
Coolly opening the album, "And The Folklore Continues" can be said to be both a titular and actual nod to his past work. As ever, there's heavenly Latin guitar stylings that make you swoon and the melancholic vibe is accentuated by the addition of some melodic wordless vocals from Tommy. Just divine. The sparkling "La Califas Perdido" follows, all dreamy melodic guitars and twinkling vibes over dusty drums and a fine bassline. The shuffling, conga-assisted "I Would Go With You" is a gentle, romantic gem whilst the brief but beautiful "No Time For Time" feels in a hurry to let us know that Tommy can work with more propulsive rhythms. In this case, they underpin Tommy's gorgeous, shimmering guitars wonderfully well.
The head-nod funk of "Calling For Ya!" (get it?) features Curumin delivering the clever title as a hypnotic vocal refrain peppered throughout, all hung around some buried spoken word vocals and gorgeous cello work from Lenny Gonzalez. "Bloodinthemud" is a low-down gritty funk workout whilst "Zapata's Boots" is a total low-key groover, all Latin percussion and Morricone muscle aided by a whistled Spaghetti Western melody. The startling instrumental "Mosaic Man" closes out the side with a lean slice of mellifluous, virtuoso guitar bliss.
The reflective "What Have I Been Doing Since I Was Gone?" opens the B-side in glorious fashion, the type of melancholic melodic head music that should soundtrack a bright walk on a cold winter's day. The hypnotic groover "Paper Switchblade" is a razor-sharp fuzz-funk whilst the beautifully downbeat "Never Forget To Remember" is a kaleidoscopic kalimba-koolout. Galloping cop-funk breaks workout "Run With The Hunted" is a rollicking ride and it's followed by the fresh chiming guitar funk of "New Terrain".
The upbeat and bright "40 Summers", featuring congas from Alfredo Ortiz, is as clean and poppy as Tommy gets and it really is a look he wears incredibly well. Just straight up guitar pop. "The Simple Man" a gorgeous, melancholic ballad, closes out the record with deeply yearning vocals from Tommy, a rarity and a treasured one at that.
Meticulously remastered and cut by both Simon Francis and Cicely Balston respectively, it has been pressed to the highest possibly quality at Record Industry in Holland. The original and iconic sleeve, designed by Natas Kaupas, has been restored here at Be With HQ as the finishing touch to this long overdue re-issue. More

Drawing comparisons with his debut full-length Poly-Ana , an equally introspective album
that explores broader conceptual themes, the artist hesitantly describes the new record as a
very personal affair. Acting as a kind of “journal” of the last four years of his life, each of

Release Notes:
It’s rare that a certain sound is entirely an artist’s own. Although undeniably a stew of impeccable influences – from blues to folk to Latin to dusty funk, soul and hip-hop – one cannot hear a Tommy Guerrero song without immediately recognising it as his - and his only.
The cult skater from San Francisco is globally renowned as one of the original members of the legendary “Bones Brigade” team. And as an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, his laid-back soul is beloved by all who’ve basked in its blissful glow.
There’s something elemental about this music that really stirs the soul. Strikingly beautiful and instantly addictive, it’s a kind of funk-fuelled, melody-driven, groove-based magic. There’s a serenity and heart in the playing that radiates warmth and splendour, as if crafted for endless sunsets. His albums that surfaced on Mo Wax at the turn of the century have been treasured since their release and it’s two of his most vital LPs that we’re honoured to reintroduce.
The originals were quietly pressed on to a single piece of vinyl so we’ve worked closely with Tommy this year to bring you these fresh, limited editions. They have been lovingly remastered, cut nice and loud on to heavyweight double vinyl and presented in deluxe gatefold jackets.
Soul Food Taqueria continued Guerrero’s guitar soul but represented a step forward with its polished production and greater complexity of instrumentation. Denied the promotion it deserved upon release, it flew under the radar. It is now the most wanted record of his wondrous back catalogue.
Guerrero’s atmospheric touch and subtle guitar provide lush, glimmering pieces of musical texture. Within his spacious compositions, uniquely arranged instruments flourish alongside each other to create a languid soundtrack for halcyon days.
As ever, the diversity on display is beguiling. From bossa nova, samba and cumbia rhythms to understated folk, funk and soul grooves, this is another exotic set of mellow gold; perfectly represented by ESPO’s memorable artwork. Furthermore, the title’s hybridity reflects the intoxicating sweep of stylistic flavours served up, reminding us that, however tricky it is to categorise Guerrero’s special blend, it’s always a pleasure to indulge in something so creative and adventurous.
Dubby, bass-heavy instrumentals give way to moody folk-soul – witness “It Gets Heavy”, featuring melancholic vocals from Gresham Taylor – whilst “Thank You MK” is a gentle ode to the tropics, featuring ethereal instrumentation, bright bass and warm, jazzy guitars. The second half in particular contains a number of stunning ambient tracks – check “Lost Unfound”, “Another Brother Gone” and “Broken Blood” - built around minimalist, laid-back grooves and detailed guitar orchestrations which wouldn’t be out of place on the latest Jonny Nash release.
Guerrero closes this flawless set with a moment of true beauty. Restrained and graceful, “Falling Awake” is a pared back piece containing meditative guitar melodies set against melancholic piano arrangements. It brings proceedings to the most peaceful close. Seductively good, it reminds you just how great simplicity can sound.

Partiboi69 - Call Of The Void
Tracklist
A1. Playin’
A2. Bodies
B1. Feel This
B2. Call Of The Void
Partiboi69 strikes poses, chords and hot irons. Australia’s spiciest export since INXS’s front man is a sensation on many (meta-)levels. Musically, aesthetically and hedonistically exhilarating, the man’s man shows his sensitive side on Running Back. Four tracks answer the Call of the Void with a showcase of sounds and moods that are as much informed by the rules of old school dance music (Bodies) as they draw inspiration from classic rave closing tracks (Playin’), plangent pop (Feel This) and a former new romantics band that just discovered house music pre-internet (Call of the Void): surprisingly serious and simultaneously not-so-serious. Composed and executed with serious songwriting skills and an uncanny feel for the aural world of Running Back Records. A mutual pleasure, indeed.

Len Faki - Shri Yantra
12” vinyl with full cover print
TRACKLIST:
A1 - Gamma
A2 - It's Time (To Move Your Body)
B1 - Yantra
B2 - Shri Yantra
INFO:
Dropping as the second standalone EP ahead of Len Faki’s highly anticipated debut album Fusion (due out later this year), this release provides a new outlook on the producer’s sounds, going far beyond the confines of techno that he previously has been known and lauded for.
Opening the record in bold yet sensible style, Gamma subtly transcends the dancefloor functionality by anchoring its driving momentum in a wistful and enigmatic melody; a regular of Berghain, Faki also occasionally plays the upstairs room - where the bumping house of his own It's Time (to Move Your Body) could well go down as the highlight of a long night, whizzing with of colourful synths and anthemic vocals. Yantra then is a reminder of the powerful, loopy and trippy techno, which Faki (amongst all the newfound sonic explorations) has still not lost his appetite and knack for. A genuine counterpart, Shri Yantra then picks up elements of its predecessor, reframed in an enveloping breakbeat journey through time and space.
Going past the constraints of his previous work, Faki’s signature style is still very much audible on this EP, while also showing how there are still endless possibilities to develop. Stay tuned for one more special EP (x35) before the final release of the Fusion double album!

INFO:
With an album as versatile and expansive as his LP Fusion, Len Faki wanted a collection of remixes to display a similar kind of musical variety. Hand-picked from his favorite producers, the cast now features a diverse group of artists who have re-imagined 20 of Fusion's tracks, set to arrive on two double and one single 12" EP.
FigureX39 kicks off the trilogy, with our very own Arthur Robert at the helm, fittingly remaking the album's pensive closer into a melodic peak time stomper. Ø [Phase] ramps up the intensity on straight-laced Temple, keeping the BPM in line with modern techno's need for speed.
On the flip, rRoxymore inverts Tor 8 into a psychedelic funnel of haunted voices and pummeling percussion, while dubby synth swilrs and ferocious filter action give Pangea's rework of Space Cowboys I a distinctly UK-feel.
Coming in as hard hitting as ever, PAS layers high-octane rave stabs and nonstop propulsive drums on his version of Yantra and one of the album's few original house tracks, It's Time … gets the Truncate treatment, making for lean, clap-heavy groover with enough low-end to move some bodies. Often known for his cinematic compositions, Djrum delivers a complex masterpiece of heady drum science and intricate patterns condensed into one dazzling mosaic of sound. Closing this first EP out in style is Munich-based newcomer Polygonia, presenting her shimmering and always shifting remix of Friedrichshain Funk, effortlessly moving between driving rhythms and mystical melodies.

INFO:
Len Faki has always been a defining character of the techno underground. His unique approach to DJing, the consistent work as a producer and the quality output of his label Figure has all shaped the current environment.
Starting out as a clubber in the 90's, his inspirations have always reached back to the first encounters with electronic music, when new worlds opened and everything seemed possible.
While these experiences have always influenced Faki's productions and used to be released under many different aliases back in the day, they have been waiting since to be made into a proper album under the Len Faki moniker.
After quickly climbing to the top of the international DJ circuit, busy touring schedules never quite allowed for it. Finally faced with the opportunity of a long overdue creative break, Faki decided tackle the life-time venture with the necessary dedication and focus.
Excited about the new project, he also took the time and energy needed to expand his production methods. Finding new techniques allowed him to truly bring all his different influences to the surface. The process was one of following his own heart, occasionally challenging and surprising himself. Naturally the result emerged as two parallel experiences, which are now presented across two discs. Both still carry all the signature features of Faki's style but with added layers of depth and detail. There's that special contrast of dark and heady grooves, paired with dreamy melodies that transport the listener to places beyond the mind. But we also see all strains of his previous work being incorporated, mixed and molded into something new altogether.
While the first disc focuses on the kind of techno, which Faki has been brought up by and given back to for so many years of his life, the second is more loose and experimental, with forays into house, ambient and broken beats - the sounds he has always kept very passionate about.
It creates two distinct experiences, showcasing the entire breadth of Faki's cosmos. Where some ideas stay straight and kick hard, like the neon bleep opener Tor 8 or joyfully booming Astra, others take the newfound freedom to inspire a wistful broken beat ballad such as Hymn (In the Name of Fantasy) or the soulfully subdued Drum & Bass closer Voices.
Many songs even exist as pairings, with their respective counterpart on the other disc. For example, the duo of Shri Yantra/Yantra, where similar soundscapes have been looked through different lenses, making for a more straight-laced or shuffled rhythm. Also noteworthy are Faki's appearance as a veritable house producer on Hymn (In the Name of Freedom) as well as the inclusion of two very personal pieces:
The Halide tracks were made in remembrance of Faki's late mother, who passed away during the final production stage of the EP. These delicate tracks capture the intense sadness Faki was feeling at the time and helped him to process his grief and eventually to finish off the album.
By doing so Faki has given us a complete artistic statement, one that proves him to be as curious and driven now as ever, taking his sound to all-new realms.
