Manchester original Sameed comes through on GAMM with two tasty noodle nuggets based on his food experiences from Vietnam where he currently resides. His simple yet effective approach is best described as sample-friendly underground dance music with influences of Disco, Soul and Jazz. On his GAMM debut the first noodle dish comes with a heavy Disco and Jazz-Funk feel (Bun) that together with some gritty vocals gives us a peak time jam to die for. For desert, Sameed delivers 'Chao' which is way darker and chops up some deep Jazz samples with some 4/4 rhythms. Again, simple but oh so effective...

Manchester based producer Sameed delivers us a very nice EP for the Skylax n°141. After his first weapon "Spend EP" on the swedish label Local Talk, he confirms here his taste for house music with "Ma'Thang". This new release is perfect to bring a dark and sensual amosphere to a warm up set.The first side begins with "Bad You", a perfect mix between a deep bassline, a mysterious background and soulfull vocals. The only element that kept you stuck on the floor is the raw clap. "No one else" is more focused on the beat and the repetition of the funky voice sample through the patterns. By using flanger effects, Sameed gives even more energy to this track, moving away from the keyboard softness. The third one, "Blue", could be the expression of what you hear while dreaming. We find again a mystic musical background but it is added to a very light melody, the sound of the sea and what seems to be whoops of joy."Hustle", the first track of the second side, is definitely darker and more nostalgic. Remebering us some Rick Wade sounds, the melody seems to confuse itself but keeps a clever coherence. The hi-hats manage to provide the sensation of speed and continuity all along the musical trip. "Watching U", is really about rythm and bass : the raw beat and heavy bassline deliver to this title all its identity. The jazzy notes and asexual vocals fit very well with this body oriented track. "Grg-Jam" is certainly the most particular element of this EP. Even if we can find the same kind of melodies as in the other titles, the beat is really different, remembering drum'n bass but in a very soft way. During this imaginative jam session, Sameed alternates the textures of the hats, bringing a frenetic rhythm to the conclusion of Ma'Thang.Sameed proves us that he is definitely a safe bet of the "Madchester" house scene. Sometimes it's best to let the music do the talking, this is one of those occasions. Local Talk's 46th release comes from exciting debutant Sameed. Little did we know about Sameed before we got the four tracks for this 12", for all we know it could be your neighbour. Quick-firing the release is Spend, functional as a set highlight with its dubby chords, vocal snippets and a wonky bassline. Included on the b-side is a dub that will work perfect as a DJ tool for those who want to go a little bit deeper. Showcasing Sameed's sense for keeping things stripped down and sweaty , Still is a dirty exercise in acid witchcraft while Getyoself can best be described as a delicately raw rhythm with dark textures.

Lyon beatsmith Saint Paul made an impressive full debut in 2017 with his Introspection EP on Moonrise Hill Material (which he co-runs with his boys Folamour, Ethyène and Kaffe Crème). After tasty contributions to V/As on the likes of Apparel Wax and FHUO, the Frenchman is back with another solo record on DC's Better Listen Records. The Naturist Behavior EP is a tastefully balanced, warm-weather oriented four tracker. The title track and the A2, "A Hawaiian Trip", explore playful and jazzy territories. Meanwhile, the flip hosts moodier ventures via the bittersweet boogie of "Tell Me" and the ice cold late night jam, "Feels Good".

Washington based Better Listen Records drop their first VA e.p. housing four disco influenced dancefloor workouts bringing a slice of sunshine to our shores. Folamour kicks things off with an uptempo disco stomper, complete with driving bass, infectious string hooks and energetic piano stabs. The A2 sees Ethyene slows things down combining choice vocal snippets, shuffling rhythms and sleezy synthwork to create a sunset groove ready made for the summer. On the flip Ari Bald draws on all the elements from a classic disco anthem, with brass stabs, slap bass and an uplifting guitar riff driving things forward, before Dorsi Plantar closes things out with a blissful boogie simmerdown perfect for any sunrise set.
