Hot Creations favourite Robert James makes his debut on VIVa with three original tracks and heavyweights Groove Armada are onboard to deliver ‘Terrace’ and ‘Dub’ remixes. ‘Seagate’ captures the energy of the sunshine with licking hi-hats, rolling grooves and unforgettable vocals. The feel-good ‘House Invader’ rides a swinging bassline and sharp kick, while Groove Armada’s ‘Terrace Mix’ strips solid percussion into a dramatic synth affair, and a digital ‘Dub Mix’ is also on the agenda. On his third original production, Robert James delivers more sonic bassline action with ‘Feel That Way’. First surfacing amidst a new wave of talent on Lee Foss and Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations, Robert James has gone on to DJ at hot-spots all over the globe as well as release on labels like Culprit, Saved, Silver Network and the legendary Strictly Rhythm. He also holds a highly honoured residency at Jamie Jones’ Paradise at DC10. Formed in the mid 1990s, diverse duo Groove Armada has had numerous chart successes. Recently they held a residency on BBC 6 Music’s 6 Mix and this summer sees a new album / remix album dropping on Moda Black. More

Following on from his remixes of Robert James' LP Battle Of The Planets, Berlin-based Klix goes in for the kill with four examples of club-friendly grooves that are big on dancefloor dynamics but also boast a delicate sensitivity to melody that's often left behind when it comes to the minimal/tech genre. Check, for instance, the distinctly understated acid undertow to 'Just Tell Me', balanced beautifully with lush, New Order-esque pads, or the almost imperceptible trails of flute left across the landscape of 'Satisfaction'. Best of all is probably 'Squanchy Thoughts' featuring Shibafu No Baga, the vocoders and synth lines rendering it like a post-rave Kraftwerk. More

Robert James’ Body Movement label returns with a double-header featuring the bossman himself along with Kolter. Both ‘Planet 90’ and ‘Planet Funk’ are taken from Rob’s forthcoming LP, offering a sneak peak of the full-length project which is due early next year. Meanwhile, Kolter (AKA Djoko) adds his own touch to the release with a couplet that demonstrates why he’s achieved widespread praise at such an early stage in his music career. More
