Galaxy Sound Co takes a surprising turn from the edit game to drop another pair of sure shots by Michigan skateboarder, cyclist, sneaker-head and bedroom b boy beat maker Strictly Butters, making his second appearance on the label. Main offering 'P.B.S.' offers up rolling piano and warpy keyboards with a hazy, nostalgic feel over a tight drum break. On the flip we get 'Turn It Up', which bounces effortlessly, teased along by a sweet soul guitar riff. Take your pick, they're both corkers.

A no-nonsense 7" from Galaxy Sound Co that strips classic disco-funk down to its most useful parts. The A-side edit of locks onto the Pointer Sisters' rolling rhythm section, tightening the drums into a punchy tool primed for blends and quick drops. On the flip, Gene Chandler's 'In My Body's House' is reduced to its skeletal break, sitting comfortably across disco, boogie and hip hop-adjacent territory. A second, even leaner Pointer Sisters edit follows and is aimed squarely at loops, intros and sampling. Functional and effective edit form the master of this form.

Side A hits hard with a rework of Upp's 1975 British funk-rock bomb, originally produced by Jeff Beck and immortalised in countless hip-hop samples. Thelonious strips it to the muscle and, in doing so, spotlights Jimmy Copley's legendary break while tightening the groove for modern floors. Flip it, and the vibe turns cinematic with the S.S.O. Orchestra's 'Faded Lady', which glows with lush strings, velvet bass and deep soul texture. Two more seriously soulful weapons primed for the heads from this always on form label.
