Dance floor tool release by supposedly star-on-the-rise disc jockey – DJ Rambo. We have no idea who this person is, but one could guess this is one way to find out. Some rather heated opinions on the track list, but politics apart, A1 features a downtempo chugger yet unconventionally dubbed out version of what sounds like an early German Euro House production. A2 shifts gears with Italo tinted sexy house beats. On the flip side 90's Merengue sounds with ravey samples and dubbed out soap opera esque vocals. Lastly, a climatic commentator recording of what seems to be a football match between Brazil and Argentina.

Fledgling label Shadow Pressings already made a mark with their debut release in March entitled the Chicago EP, garnering love from Hunee, Terry Farley and Luke Solomon to name a few. Striking while the iron is hot, the label are serving up four more heavyweight club tracks which include acidic edits, crunchy deep house, 808 electro grooves and dusty breakbeats.
Lead track Find A Friend jacks up the perennial classic with 808 rims and toms and additional synths but keeps things loopy and rolling. Holding One Shoe continues with the 808 theme whilst injecting a healthy dose of acid resulting in what sounds like a long lost Yazoo B side filtered through a lysergic lens. Train Of Fools decontextualises a well known acapella making for a deep and techy basement jam which will keep the floor moving and the speaker pumping.
Closing out the EP we have More Music In The Night, which chops up some familiar samples and layers up an 808 electro groove and breakbeats for a fresh take on early 90’s house.

The debut release on brand new label Shadow Pressings hits the ground running with 4 heavyweight club tracks that doff the cap to the halcyon days of Chicago house music. Opening track The Messiah takes the maestro Lil Louis blueprint with sampled sax licks and punchy synth stabs accompanying the raw, minimal house groove. It Started In Chicago heads in a more jacking direction with a snaking bassline, muscular drum groove, cut up vocal and sax hits.
Flipping over we have How Does It Feel which brings a touch of late night deepness with a rolling FM bassline and familiar vocal hook. Classic string stabs join the party in the breakdown adding the icing on the cake and making for a track guaranteed to create a special moment on the dance floor. Closing out this killer 4 tracker we have Changes which keeps things stripped back to the meat and potatoes placing all the emphasis on the punchy 909 drums and simple bassline.

Balearische Grammophon is back with another EP featuring two previously unreleased remixes of one of Germany's biggest contributions to hairstyle and nylon sales. To some less reputable musicologists these versions of "Brother Louie" are to the original version what AMG is to Mercedes Benz - pure performance. B-side refutes any claims that Ketamine might have been less prevalent throughout German recreational circles during the 80s. If not in the streets, surely in the recording studios, whatever happened, this was not meant for radio play. For select dance floors only.

Another mysterious offshoot from the H.A.N.D. label, bringing down the tempo a bit and moving into more mediterranean latitudes. Possibly the "Britney Spears" of Flamenco for some experts, but at the same time, a life changing "exotische" anthem for sun toasted retired German/British pensioners sipping cheap wine in places too warm for their own good. Either way, Gipsy Kings can be a powerful thing if you surrender your pre-pubescent associations surrounding their chart hits. Be honest with yourself and forget about everything you heard, these previously unreleased mixes bring out the best of this sometimes too accessible consumer-Flamenco nugget without any of the guilt. Raging rhythmic flamenco guitars, Nile Rodgers in Paella version, reinforced with a completely different kick concept that keeps you gliding at a cruising altitude of 100% tranquilo. Few dancefloor tracks can be identified by their kick drum alone, “Blue Monday” is clearly one of them. These mixes seem to paint two very distinct pictures of this classic, yet also very understandable why they were never released – not the easiest thing to digest on a dancefloor. The authorship of these mixes isn't clear, but rumors have it to most likely be some ridiculous late night experiment from the sound engineer interning at the time. Taken from master tapes that surfaced almost 40 years later, (God bless magnetic tape). Some mixes were never released for a reason.

A side starts with proto-house flavored drum action from lower latitudes, moving onto portuguese slow jam synth pop featuring female and kindergarten vocals over more chunky drum generosity. B side features a lazy edit of a well known 90s hit which will most likely land DJ Piñatas a special DJ set in the courtroom, followed by almost 7 minutes of recordings of various helicopter models landing and taking off.
