EYA Records further stretches its stellar run of showcasing young, cutting-edge talent for their latest label outing, and continues to shape modern influential club sounds with Swedish-based newcomer, Eric OS.

Delivering red-hot, futuristic progressive rhythms with a sleek and propulsive melodic flair, this is a first-class statement selection of impressively mature and vibrant sounds, for only his second fully-fledged EP.

The title track “Spellbound” dispatches shadowy, hypnotic fairground melodies, and hints of 80’s synth-pop stylings, with a wicked, pulsating, electrified energy aimed squarely at serious dancefloors. “The Machine” brings a more introspective moment on A2; with crunchier drums and crystalline deep electro motifs, full of rich, inviting moods.

On the other side “Closer” is a clubby, amped-up bass driver, with layers of bouncing peak time sounds, melted vocal snippets and intoxicating organs. And B2 “Maraton” stylishly rounds off the EP with haunting call-and-response synth lines, for a blissed-out early morning afterparty feel. Expertly intelligent dancefloor electronics.

A1 ‘ Mirage man’ by Manuk is a wonderful, expressive techno and trance infused number, while A2 ‘Mutant Mindset’ by Oli Silva has a raw breakbeat impact with classy eerie chords, haunting vocals, and a killer bassline.

B1 is the result of the joint effort by the two producers, ‘Multiple Minglings’ is a very impactful psychedelic journey. The EP is completed by a ‘Freestyle’ remix of B1 by UK legendary producer Dave Campbell aka HI-Ryze. More

Matthew Dexter has been waist deep in electronic music, and techno in particular, for years, mainly as the DJ behind a club night called Space Division. Behind the scenes he was also learning the ropes as a producer, with this EP on Eya marking his debut vinyl release. It's a gorgeously retro-futurist affair, with Dexter utilising synthesizer settings and machine drums that recall techno's sci-fi roots, as well as its many mutations over the last 35 years. Check first the faintly foreboding and slightly ghostly 'Desolation of Kind', where flashes of TB-303 and an 'LFO'-esque bass sound catch the ear, before turning your attention to EBM-influenced opener 'AES'. Elsewhere, 'Barlow's Lens' is an undeniably intergalactic affair, while 'Gene's Paranoia' is a gently bleeping roller. More
