The label name pays tribute to a hardware-focused production style which they first experimented with on their “Faux Polynesia” EP on Phonica White. This stylistic turning point encouraged further exploration into this direction, discovering new processes to make genuinely unique dance music that focuses on the idea that the best sounds are not imagined and then created, they are discovered.

London outfit Kassian continue their broadly- evolving yet highly detailed journey through and beyond sound towards something ever more expansive. Their second release for !K7 Records comes in the wake of creating a dedicated hardware-forward studio in a Northeast London container complex, where they have the freedom to interlink their machines. This renewed focus brought them to Supercontinent EP, named for the ancient geological era when Africa and South America were joined as Pangea.
A reformulation of rhythmic ideas inspired by South= African Amapiano and South American Baile Funk governs the two hemispheres of the record. The pair examine and deconstruct dancefloor material, eschewing 4/4 for interlocking shaker patterns, searing acid lines, cracking breakbeats, and vocal samples in Zulu and Brazil Portuguese.
The immediacy of the restless rhythm and bass-led funk of “Yena” (the word Yena translates to ‘he/him /man’)forms a sweet spot where double-time and half-time can coexist. “Yami” (‘mine’ in Zulu) is a slinkier proposition which sheds prominent percussion in favour of a weighty, fluid, acid-informed bassline undulating from below.
An ascending percussive riff marks the arrival of “Pulgueiro”, followed closely by break beats and the nostalgia of distinctly British acid electro; it is an intentionally future-forward retelling of a vintage sound, replete with a mind-melt breakdown of rave pads.
A dubbed-out groove dominates the bottom-heavy “Sistema” – a groovy, steady roller that chugs and propels and chugs with head-nod hypnotism through an intricately minimalistic approach. More

Kassian - Patterns
Within the transformations of their meticulous processes, London duo Kassian become a vessel for alchemy: filtering and distilling scores of stems, samples and layers until something richer and more complex than the sum of its parts emerges. Uncomfortable in any solitary genre, and at the midpoint of somewhere unexpected and uncharted, the pair describe their sound as “almost techno.”
Since their debut release in 2018, Kassian have drifted leftwards into heavier, more abstract territory, harnessing their individual skills for working in the small pockets and painting the whole cloth of the canvas. In their first outing for !K7, Phase Two EP, the Roland System 1 synth is the throughline as they painstakingly piece together sketches, turning high hats into kick drums, capturing the resonance of percussion and drift further into each other’s heavy-hitting sonic realms.
“X-303” recontextualises the sci-fi inspiration of its name, forging a new style of interstellar acid. A driving kick drum holds steady through a track which oscillates between contrasts: from eerie, suspenseful pads and distorted string sounds, to a minimalistic groove accented with double-time drums and mechanistic pulses. “Tabla” reduces a distinct latin rhythm down to its essence, and is propelled by a thick and distended bass loop. Its hypnotic groove combines the human and the virtual with a glitching vocal sample and the juddering of strummed guitar strings, highlighted by the percussive hits of its namesake instrument.
The pair characterise “Prelude” as “a Frankenstein kind of monster.” Constructed around a radio sample of a legend of the scene, it is a sleek and incremental gradation of shades, with micro layers from their palette of sounds rising and falling, blending and twisting with no obvious lead or bass. Repurposing the same drums as “X-303”, the EP’s final track “Patterns” was inspired by Kassian’s earliest incarnations of live performances, and it unashamedly captures the peaks of communal moments, rounding out the EP with an epic take on deep and techy house. Kassian - London Orbital
Following their debut on the imprint in 2020, Kassian step up for a second outing on Shall Not Fade, this time via the Basement series. Their return to the label takes a deeper, heavier direction than their previous releases, more suited to a warehouse over an intimate club setting.
As Kassian have continuously pushed their sound forwards, they've gained recent accolades such as contributing to BICEP's Feel My Bicep mix series, playing Mixmag's LAB London live and notable coverage from DJ Mag and more in the last year alone.
Their latest EP 'Breathe' is perfectly placed for the long awaited return to nightlife. The A1 delivers what a true A1 should, a peak time driving track with undeniable energy. "Aerial" pulls back the pace slightly, it's a deep and rolling effort with a classic trance influence. Rounding off the EP is "London Orbital", clearly inspired by the sounds of London that the duo are so familiar with, the track switches up the pace and presents a breaks focussed sound. More

Release Info:
Kassian are back on Heist with a follow up to their debut release ‘The Premise’ from 2018. Their new ‘8th Movement’ EP showcases their knack for a tight dance floor groove and is another great example of their well-groomed electronic funk. The EP features 3 originals and a Leo Pol remix.
The Kassian boys have worked like maniacs to build their profile since their debut in 2018. Their debut title track ‘The Premise’ was nominated track of the year by Gilles Peterson, and their track ‘Bad Habit’ has been a staple in DJ sets from us and many others. Meanwhile, they’ve had releases on ‘Phonica White’, ‘Groovence’ and started their own label ‘Kassian Versions’ with some heavy edits. They also started a radio show on ‘Balamii’, instantly becoming one of the station’s favorite shows and they’ve worked on charity compilations for Covid19 and the United Nations Women’s charity, while still finding the time to deliver a seriously cool new record on Heist.
Apollo is built around a bumpin’ disco bassline, hazy stabs, vocal chops and a deceptively simple but oh- so-catchy lead loop. The track also features some nifty keys and percussion by Thomas Arroyo, who produces afro-inspired house under the name Laroye and has really succeeded in giving the track an added layer of warmth and expression. This track has everything you need for a solid party anthem: A solid beat, a catchy bassline and just the right amount of chops, fills and vocals.
The title track takes a deeper turn, with some lovely Motor City inspired chords, rolling drums and their soon-to-be signature surprise move of a driving acid line. A hit of a ‘dubby’ piano and a vocal chant both move in and out and of the forefront, adding some really nice layers to the heads down vibe of the track.
On the flip, we’ve got Parisian groove ambassador Leo Pol throwing out one hell of a track with his remix of Apollo. His version has an ecstatic and lively feel, with vibey leads coming in and out of play and cheerful synth hits adding to the energy. Where the original goes for a neatly organized groove, Leo’s version feels a bit like the anarchist little brother, adding whatever he feels like and somehow getting the elements to work together like a charm.
The EP closes off with Brass Hammer, another fine example of how you can work a tight groove with a simple bassline and percussion loop. The main appeal of Kassian’s music is found in the combination of this with loose elements like the Fender Rhodes, and vocal chops. That’s exactly what we feel when listening to Brass hammer. It rolls and grooves, keeps the momentum going and going and expertly uses harmonic elements like the keys and vocals to build up the tension.
So there we go. 3 solid-as-a-rock groovers from Kassian and a loose, smile-inducing remix by Leo Pol to get your club hearts pumping again.
Yours Sincerely,
Lars & Maarten More

Following a successful run of releases and remixes in 2019, London based production partnership Kassian return to Phonica White for their second release on the imprint. Continuing to focus on quality output, the pair put forward their ‘Shuffling Words EP’ which aims to expand on their evolving style of house music.
Joe Danvers (aka Danvers) and Warren Cummings (aka Warren Xclnce) form a duo that through a mutual respect for each others musical tastes and prior successes, combine their influences into their own direction within electronic music. To date they chart continued support from the likes of Giles Peterson, Jamie XX, Detroit Swindle, Horse Meat Disco, Crazy P, DJ Seinfeld, Artwork, DJ Boring and many more...
The title track ‘Shuffling Words’, is a warm and soulful house joint characterised by a rolling bass and playful synths, delivering all the elements the duo have become known for. Next up is ‘Ex-Culture’ aligning more with Techno than their familiar House/Disco edits, this one is a clear progression in the duo’s production style which builds up to an enormous atmospheric climax and is designed for the dancefloors. Closing the EP is ‘U Make Me’. A rolling lofi house cut featuring an infectious reverberating vocal catching the ear throughout. This EP is set to kick start another strong year for Kassian, where they will aim to build on the successes of 2019.
Artwork as always is supplied by the talented Pedro Carvalho de Almeida. More

kassian - This One's For You
We welcome production partnership Kassian to the fold for the 20th release on Phonica White. Consisting of Joe Danvers (who has released records on Wotnot music and Boogie Cafe recently) and Warren Cummings (aka Warren XcInce), Kassian spawned from their mutual respect and a wide crossover in each others’ musical tastes, using their influences of Jazz, Soul, Broken Beat and Hip Hop to produce House with a more personal and innovative touch.
It’s a fruitful collaboration, with Joe’s background in the Bristol club scene and Warren’s experience at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM resulting in a nuanced yet functional take on the classic House sound, particularly evident on their new ‘Faux Polynesia EP’ on Phonica White.
“Their debut release in October for the well-respected Heist Recordings from Amsterdam was well received and amassed impressive support from admired selectors. They kick off their Phonica release with title track ‘Faux Polynesia’, a warm, rolling atmospheric House cut that has been getting many DJ plays. On the flip is the uptempo bumper ‘System’ with it’s spoken word hook and cheeky organ riff before rounding off the EP with ‘This One’s For You’, a truly special end of night anthem in the making! An excellent house EP with 3 strong tracks.”

Release Info:
At Heist, we’re always on the prowl for exciting new music and we’ve seriously found it in the form of new project ‘Kassian’, the brainchild of Joe Danvers- McCabe (‘Danvers') and Warren Cummings (‘Warren Xclnce’).
Both are regulars in the underground and wider reaching London scenes, Warren is a co-founder of Abouttoblow and a previous studio producer at Worldwide FM, whilst Joe came through DJing and running nights in the eclectic world of Bristol nightlife before moving to London.
Joe gained considerable attention this year with his ‘Interludes EP’ on Wotnot music, with ‘Aye Ata’ getting played by pretty much everyone from Gilles Peterson to Octo Octa. Perhaps unknowingly, he entered into Heist territory with a Frits Wentink remix on that release. After hearing this release, we got in touch with him and that’s when we heard about Joe and Warren’s plans to launch a new project together. They already had some tracks ready and when we heard them, it had ‘Heist Recordings’ written all over it. The whole EP breathes soul and funk with that dancefloor punch you’ve come to expect from Heist.
The Premise EP delivers three originals, each with a hint of soulful, old-school New York House, but with a fresh style and unique character. Finishing the EP is an eccentric and vibey DJ Nature remix. This release marks the start of a new musical path for the duo and we hope they have a lot more music to share with the world.
The title track “The Premise” has a special meaning for them: It’s named after the London studio/café ‘The Premises’ where they had their first studio sessions together following a chance meeting at a Peckham party they were both playing. The track is a moody but high-energy jam filled with Rhodes licks, vocal chops and some lovely string work. “Bad Habit” kicks in a bit harder but finds a nice balance again with a prominent piano, accompanied by some guitar chops and a soulful vocal. The energy is kept high with a loopy bassline and a mix of cowbells
and toms... wait for the acid line to hit to really feel this one!
The flip holds two versions of Love 4:2. The original is probably the darkest track of the ep with a heavy-as-hell bassline. The track stretches out over nine minutes with various vocal, percussive and synth elements taking place to support the vibe. The second version of this track comes from the skilled hand of DJ Nature. He’s been busy digging in his own archives; recently re-issuing old Nature Boy tracks to much success. Luckily, we’ve managed to push his buttons with this track and the remix he delivered is classy as can be. He goes for a similar approach in terms of speed and energy, but takes a sharp leftfield turn with a syncopated bassline and some twisted and tangled work on the keys.
Altogether we’ve got a debut release that has already done wonders in many of our DJ sets and we’re super excited to introduce Kassian to the world. Play it loud and enjoy!
Yours Sincerely,
Maarten & Lars.

STE Roberts - Diego's Mad Hour
Faux Poly kick off 2023 with Eliza, a beautifully detailed and rugged EP by Ste Roberts. Those who know Ste’s productions will be familiar with his signature style of deep, sometimes haunting rhythmic productions that effortlessly maintain a huge presence in any club. This record takes Ste’s music into a new and more intimate personal space whilst staying true to his instantly recognisable sound, blending elements of dark Techno and Electro with a beautifully delicate touch.
“This EP was written and produced at a really unique time of my life as I moved my home studio into a new space due to the birth of our daughter, Eliza. The real life hustle kicked in as my freedom to have a jam when I felt creative had gone. Getting used to a new space and making time count was the new way, and here is the first EP from that time. The EP is called Eliza, because what else could it have been!”

Release Info:
Pool Boy is the side project of swiss-born Canadian producer Cyril Hahn. From an art student staying afloat with a menial job in a coffee shop to being Annie Mac-approved, his rise to prominence is a modern-day internet success story.
Rewind to 2013 when his pitch-shifted, game-changing reworks of
classics evolved from casual SoundCloud uploads to Annie Mac, Romy Madley-Croft-endorsed hits (yep – of The xx). This sudden trend was followed up a couple of critically acclaimed EPs on the great PMR Records. In 2018 as he started to move away from club-ready music, he started digging into a more pop-leaning, ambient, traditional listeing experience that led to the genesis of Pool Boy. In 2018, he releases his 1st Poolboy LP on Seb Wildblood's label Coastal Haze.
We are thrilled to welcome him back with a brand-new record to be
released on Noire & Blanche. 'All Inclusive', the upcoming 9 track LP, is a sun-drenched record bouncing between balearic, house, and ambient vibes. It has that light, exotic sound that you will be increasingly obsessed with and that will perfectly fit your sunset rides this summer.
Travelling along all these soundscapes and ambiances, Pool Boy invites his canadian fellow Pacific Colliseum (Teen Daze) on 'Pool House' for a cosmic house break. On another side, the LP will include a pack of 3 beautiful remixes from Gooch, Domenique Dumont and Khotin reflecting the variety of influences on this record.

Adesse Versions brings his cut and paste ethos to Razor-N-Tape with a varied pair of edit heaters. On this stellar 12", RNT takes it back to their early format of one track per side, and these two cuts can certainly carry it. “Bumpin' NYC" is an anthemic latenite boogie cut, with a hypnotic bass line and hometown shoutout, while "Sistem" flips an afrobeat sample into a dark and groovy club track. Vibes for days!

After a 3 year hiatus, Kampana brings back Aroop Roy to the label for his debut 7". On the A-side, he takes a low-fi funky blues sample and beefs it up with piano stabs, bass and killer disco groove. On the flip, he reworks a jazzy Brazilian funk number, which nods to Stevie Wonder, giving it a bumping house twist. Timeless sounds!

Oliver Koletzki's most successful album will be finally released on vinyl.
Tracklist:
A-Seite

2. Zuckerwatte feat. Juli Holz
3. U-Bahn feat. Axel Bosse
4. Kusskompatibel
5. Warschauer Straße
B-Seite
1. Hypnotized feat. Fran
2. Kleines Zwischenspiel
3. Headshaped Box feat. Kate Mosh
4. These Habits feat. Pyur
5. Die Raketen - Nimm mich mit (Oliver Koletzki Remix)
The Berlin-based techno and house producer and DJ Oliver Koletzki has fully committed himself to his roots for this album. They can be traced back to pop music of the 80ies and 90ies, while his productions still manage to transport the fresh energy of today's electronic music productions. "Großstadtmärchen" is a perfect example for a producer's album: Oliver Koletzki has created a musically compact long player while working together with many different singers. Both established artists like Mieze Katz from the German electro-pop outfit MIA., the hot German pop-rock-singer Axel Bosse, critically acclaimed indie band Kate Mosh as well as newcomers such as Fran, Pyur and Juli Holz have contributed to the album. The result are ten songs that easily fluctuate between catchy pop tracks, modern house grooves and 80ies synthesizer pop yet still maintaining a very own Koletzkieske sound dynamic.
"Großstadtmärchen", which translates as "The tale of the big city" starts off with "THIS IS LEISURE". Famous pop singer Mieze Katz has put down her sexy voice on a guitar-based song pattern that functions as an ideal introduction into the craziness of the big city tales. After hearing this, the listener is directly fully drawn into this world when hearing Juli Holz's softly whispering voice singing about the dilemmas of love in the big city on "ZUCKERWATTE" (Single release date: 7.9.09). This is a very fine electro-pop tune. Coming up next Oliver Koletzki and Axel Bosse board an underground train that takes them around the Berlin U-Bahn system and back. Axel Bosse, who has had a massive success with his song "3 Millionen" adds his melancholic voice to this groovy pop anthem and sings about the poetic magic of public transport, while we hear the sounds of the trains on top. Of course, Oliver Koletzki has added some purely instrumental tracks on his album, too: "KUSSKOMPATIBEL" and "WARSCHAUER STRASSE" are a journey back to Oliver's first years in Berlin and his love for house music. "KLEINES ZWISCHENSPIEL" also celebrates the energetic sound of electronic music. Then there is another great shine of bright light with the pop track "HYPNOTIZED" that is already making airwaves on German radio. It features the newcomer singer Fran that turns this track into a wonderful electronic love story. In her beautiful crystal clear voice Fran tells the story of those moments during the night that decide where it's going to end: a song about love, passion and the energy between male and female, a catchy pop anthem about the first dance, the first kiss and that special moment when the night turns into day. Oliver has equipped this song with a wonderful piano melody and a very smooth and poppy electronic beat. Actually it sounds like Fran and Oliver have never been doing anything else than produce wonderfully fresh pop songs together.
The tale of the city carries on with a very appealing mixture of indie rock and electronic music. "HEADSHAPED BOX" encapsulates what Indietronic sounds like in the year 2009: symphonic, melodic and simply unique. On "THESE HABITS" the just seventeen-year-old singer Pyur makes her debut. This down-beat triphop-groove is a wonderful hit for the late summer. Last up is a bonus track: Oliver Koletzki remixes "NIMM MICH MIT" by the electronic boy-band Die Raketen.
"Großstadtmärchen": This title is chosen for a reason. The story behind Oliver Koletzki is also a magical tale of believing in yourself. Since he is 12 years old, Oliver makes music, by himself or in bands: it is the love for the energy of soundwaves that makes him work hard on himself. In 2005 Oliver Koletzki celebrates the big breakthrough by releasing his hit "Mückenschwarm" on the label of techno grand daddy Sven Väth Cocoon Records. It becomes not only the biggest tune of the year, but also the best selling single on Cocoon Records ever. With this success in mind, Oliver directly realises his dream of starting his own label to promote newcomers. Stil vor Talent also becomes the platform for the release of his first album "Get Wasted" in 2007. One year later, Oliver proves his intuition for pop music when he signs the track "3 Tage Wach" by Lützenkirchen. He makes a low-budget-video for the track that gets an astronomically large half a million views on YouTube within the first three weeks. At least from here it is obvious: Oliver Koletzki is not your average techno producer. His productions and his sense for orginal music also have a deep rooting within pop culture. Thus "Großstadtmärchen" is the logical consequence from two decades of intense musical production: here comes a mature, yet still playful pop album that manages to combine many different influences into one harmonious oeuvre. It shows just how close the dancefloor and pop music really always were, and still are.
