Together with Scott Frasier, T.J.F. is running the record label 'Crimes Of The Future' and he is also known as one half of The Asphodells together with Andrew Weatherall. This is his second release on Hoga Nord Rekords and his first EP on the label.

The return of Timothy J Fairplay sees tracks from his 2 EPs on Emotional Response remixed on one special release. Four favourite producers chosen to bring new dimensions to his brooding, shuffling electronics, featuring Scientific Dreamz Of U, Alessandro Parisi, Perseus Trax and Antenna. Part of the label since inception, the last five years have seen TJF's career explode with releases on Bird Scarer, Charlois and Hoga Nord, setting up the Crimes Of The Future label with Scott Fraser and releasing an album alongside Andrew Weatherall as The Asphodells. His EPs for Emotional Response saw some of his strongest, deep and dubbed out productions that marked their own terrain and these reworks have been a long term project. Starting with a trance inducing breaks-dub of Stories of Prison from Scientic Dreamz Of U and you understand why this mysterious producer has become a cult in his own dreamtime, as subs bump this vortexed revision to its own portal. Next Alessandro Parisi implants his cyber-electro-harmonies to Aim For The Yellow Sector. Fairplay's late night drive-by is respectfully given a future-retro mix, gliding away from East London's dank streets to mysterious plains and beyond. Things take an analogue twist for the flip with Perseus Traxx showing his love for Chi town on his remix of Saco Bay. A bumpin' bass sets the motion, mixing the swirling original to basement vibes x 10. Win win win. Kindred spirit and fellow Pinkman/Charlois member Antenna closes the EP with a deep retake of Night Ferry. After causing a stir with the killer Odessa EP and subsequent releases on Royal Oak and Beats In Space, a remix was a given. A mellow groove and optimistic keys is the perfect way to end this chapter of Timothy's music and await for new adventures

Charlois present Where is the Champion, Timothy J. Fairplay's first full length solo album. Twelve shifting, shuffling and shimmering tracks make up this debut. Cruising the highways and byways between proto-techno, horror disco and forlorn wave, Fairplay conjures up his creations from metal and smoke. Saturated snares, clipped claps and warbling chords are dusted with distortion. And this idea of distortion, manipulation and the blurred line is omnipresent. Innocent and sinister, cruel and playful, accepted boundaries are brazenly ignored as engines growl and synthlines soar.

The release of Somebody, Somewhere (ERS002) really helped shape the feel and sound of Emotional Response in its infancy. In another way it helped Timothy step away from being known as engineer extraordinaire to the likes of Andrew Weatherall and Daniel Avery and to establish him as a proper solo artist with his own, particular musical vision. Now a fully established solo artist with releases across a myriad of labels, DJ gigs across the globe and also being co-owner of the Crimes Of The Future label, Timothy returns to Emotional Response with a mini-LP of brooding intensity. We start with the tough The Quay, where his more expansive House and Techno productions of late are glimpsed on a dubbed out dance flor, before his increasing interest in break beats is again examined on the self-explanatory Unexplained Intergalactic Radio Bursts. It is however, the deep, deep heavy synth cuts Salamoor that sees a full return to the sound Timothy was fist associated with, all late night keys and (space) echo percussion. This is seen again later on Night Ferry and the classic closing track, Is It Wrong?, however before that is the title cut, Stories Of Prison. A full on bump along dark streets, this has a deathly kick that shakes bones. It's easy to throw lines like Carpenter and Goblin, arpeggios and horror lines, but it's all here in his own inimitable way. A welcome look at TFJ. The future offers more to come, but sometimes it's good to go back.

Magic Feet are gaining momentum after the superb Tommy Awards EP, and welcome Timothy J Fairplay to the fold for their third release. Fairplay is a rising star of the UK underground and recently opened proceedings on Bird Scarer, the new vinyl-only initiative from Andrew Weatherall, with the sprawling cosmiche flecked brilliance of “The Final Reel,” and has also contributed to the output of Astrolab and World Unknown. Fairplay has little interest in making ‘functional’ dance floor records and delivers four cutshere that plough a distinctly epic path through post 100bpm electronic music that’s framed by both cinematic and musical references. Limited to 300 hundred copies only

New cat on the Astro Lab camp, Timothy J Fairplay from the Battant band, after good releases on kill The Dj, Andrew Weatherall's Rotters Golf Club, Live At Robert Johnson Tim gave us couple of great tracks with his best Carpenter mood, it was so hard to choose, we took 3 of them and asked our favourite producer Mr Andrew Weatherall to remix one, he turn the "Sleigh Ride/blizzard into this slow techno atmosphere. On the B side Astro Lab ZNTN remixed "General Arrived" and turned the original into an amazing dancefloor tune, something close to the Optimo's works.
