Snad is back on Smallville.
Shyam Anand is a long-term friend of Smallville and an MPC wizard with a wide-open heart. We are super happy to finally present a 12“ that is fully his own.
After an amazing contribution to Smallville 49 (check out Excerptz!), Snad aka Spandrel aka Shyam Anand presents a full 3-tracker on Smallville, packed with his irrisistible grooves, the usual unexpected twists and an overall magical atmosphere. Growing up near Philadelphia, then moving to Chicago and later exploring the global underground scenes of Berlin and Mexico City, among others, Snad is a busy man. He runs his own imprint Spandrel, co-runs We R The Aliens and has an impressive back-catalogue of contributions for several favourites like Running Back, Courtesy of Balance, Kimochi, Long Vehicle, 20:20 Vision, Phonica and many more.
On this 12" the A side belongs solely to Bubblescope - 14 and a half minutes of mesmerizing Ensoniq DP/4 Vocoder driven modular spheres, an endlessly deep bubbling piece of art that builds an intense feeling that could last for hours.
The B side sees Snad staying deep – Lukewarm Lava explores the broken beat world before taking you on a ride. The beloved B2-spot goes to Tanni - an integral part of Julius' warmup-sets since forever and thus a special one to finally put on wax.
Bubblescope comes with a Full Cover Artwork by Stefan Marx.

No stranger to the limelight with a string of forward-thinking, sought-after releases under his belt, Snad joins the roster of cutting-edge artists bringing his spark to Phonica AM under curation of Luther Vine.
The 'Labyrinthine EP' opens with a relentless 4 to the floor club ready firestarter. Aptly titled 'Quark' hits the spot in all the right places. Its swinging drum work out and oscillating chords swirl to a frenzy and guarantee to set any a dance floor ablaze.
The A2 'Labyrinthine' boots off with Snad's unique take on UK 90s Tech-House, full groove, snare syncopation and whirlwind of off-centre synth cords, adding to his effervescent sound design.
The flip side opens with a killer remix fellow Berliner expat, Huerta's take on 'Quark'. The remix retains the destructive dance floor potential of the original and adds somewhat in the hypnotic trip out department. Full engagement is guaranteed from start to finish even for the more of an absent-minded listener on this one.
Snad closes the EP with 'Revival'. This cross-genre juggernaut effortlessly marries puncy breaks with dubbed out echos while the resonant synth chords and muddled vocal chops expand listener's perception of sonar possibilities to places few have imagined possible. One of the rare tracks which hovers on the fringe of experimentation but guarantees to move the peak time crowd of the most discerning listening habits.

Luther Vine's Fragments Of Reality and its various artists series have been a real doozy for 20/20 but now the sub-label offers up a first solo EP. It is Snad who gets the gig and he is a house producer from Berlin making big waves right now. This one follows outings on Chicago's Kimochi Records, Chez Damier's Courtesy of Balance and the Dungeon Meat label and is another raw, stripped-back offering of tough house. 'Bootlickerz' is a bristling cut ready for the peak time, 'Goobernatorial Candidacy' has a more stripped-back but just as compelling groove and 'Per Savour' goes deep into late-night goodness before closer 'Butt Heads' picks up the pace once more.

Supremely prolific artist SNAD is back with another of his majestic new EPs. It manages to serve up a fresh new take on tech house grooves with precise sound synthesis that is deep and cinematic. 'The Underlying Granular Structure Of Spacetime' is a freeform cut with flapping kicks and hits, nebulous sci-fi pads and muffled vocals from another dimension. Then there is the crisp neon melody and lithe drums of 'Thaw,' 'First Flake' with its deeper drum work and icy cool hi hats and the fantastic closer 'The Extract.' This might be the tune of the EP with its flurry of delicate breakbeats and off-grid synths.

"Blue Jazz" starts the dance with it's hypnotic guitar arpegio and sparse pianos for a stratospheric ballad, pure bliss! A2's "Deeper" is a dubbed out chugger that funks hard and locks you as soon as the bassline comes in.
"Red Blues" is another atmospheric jam with a more techno feel a la detroit, robotic and bass heavy.
B2 definitely kicks some and shows Gaetano's wide randing abilities with this minimal jacker, which will take care of keeping them hips swaying through the night.

Another arm of Chez Damier's multi-limbed Balance Alliance, Courtesy of Balance inaugurate a new series of 12" compilation releases with COB 3, arriving on limited edition transparent vinyl. Amir Alexander kicks things off following a crop of killer releases for Vanguard Sound and Hype LTD with "Dragon Fly!" featuring the subtly undulating bassline and fresh take on the deep house template he's known for, while City 2 City's "True People 88 89 90" comes true on the promise of its title, with a piece of vintage house that goes beyond the usual hollow revivalism. On the flip, Immer & Mr J's "Delta 23" offers a thick piece of mid-tempo house, with a piercing kick drum, offbeat dub chords and contained acid madness, while St Sene & Janeret's "Nightshifter" takes things down a notch with a late-night house track filled with swirling pads and diva vocals swelling on the midnight horizon.

The young Frenchman's third release on Chez Damier's Balance imprint sees him showcasing his techno side. Le Voyage and Chains and Funk are two muscular dance floor tracks that cut straight for the floor. Le Voyage as the title suggests is a majestic track with grand ideas that accelerates the deepness of the hugely successful Asteroids and Star Dust. On Side 2 there is a dark urgency that will certainly make waves on the floor. The combination of the two confirms Brawther's status as a true talent for the future.
