Established and loved member of the Shall Not Fade Family, Felipe Gordon turns up the jazz influence on a fresh new EP for the label. The producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Colombia is known for his complex compositions and infectious beats, and Keepin' It Jazz does not disappoint.
The record kicks off with "Analog Only" - a highly textural beat forms the core of this bass-heavy groover that cruises along at a laid back pace, drawing the listener further in. Similarly gentle but hypnotic, "Continuous Develop" has the heady ambience of the chillout room, but Gordon brings in his intricate dreamy instrumentation and acid hints to great effect.
The second half centres a tasty bass solo that will get all heads nodding along. The title track is the chunkiest of house rhythms paired with delicate jazzy piano, a gliding summer party anthem. "Looking Your Reflection In The Water" is artful, perfectly emotive and gently rising like a tide from poolside piano into a hip-moving danceable pulse. The record closes out to "What You Say?"; funky house with attitude, a rude bassline and heavy swagger.

Felipe Gordon from Bogota is one of THE names right now in the jazz infected house & broken beat scene that is growing so much these days. This is his 2nd EP on Toy Tonics and its a step forward for him musically: he started to include more vocals and worked with colombian vocalist Paula Pedraza. Gordon’s music is special: with his background as a colombian (with that great heritage of musicianship that the country has) and as a indie rock musician (he used to play in bands for years) - he has a very own vibe. His tracks have much more groove than lot of the sample based stuff you get to hear currently.. and his production style is more variable and musically interesting than lots of other stuff outside. Check these 4 new tracks. Especially the 2nd tool, wich adds some freshness to the current disco vibe: Binging in a punkfunk bassline that could have been made in 2005 from Disco-Not-Disco artists like Chicken Lips, Headman or Playgroup. This is Post - 90ies - Revival music :)

Our favourite Colombian of all time is by far Felipe Gordon. His individual (and jazzy) take on house music and beyond has given him a big following within the underground dance community. We reached out to Felipe and asked him if he wanted to do a release on GAMM with only one request..."do whatever you want".
The music we got sent back is a beautiful four-track EP that delivers all aspects of Felipe Gordon's unique take on dance music.
The main track 'Self Love' is a warm and intimate jazz excursion that also plays around with some quirky electronic ideas...feel good with a twist. The second jam 'The Punk Automata' got a more bumpy and driving rhythm and has a slightly stronger club play appeal.
On the third track 'Your Feelings' we go darker with a proper late-hours deep house jam...proper!
On the final track, Felipe teams up with Bob The Egoist (great name) for a deep and musical vocal jam entitled 'Please Don't Go'.

Errare Humanum Est comes from the Latin proverb "To err is human" as a musician and a human-being, you are constantly facing "mistakes" on your compositional work and your instrumental interpretation, Felipe Gordon presents his second conceptual album under this premise, you should accept and make mistakes as a crucial part of art and life. During late 2022 and beginning of 2023, the musician and producer worked on a new long play in his home studio "El Dorado" in Bogot?, Colombia. Trying to create a whole new concept and universe he re-visited some forgotten musical sketches, going from breakbeats, synthesis, boom bap, deep acid and house music Felipe presents us his new album, a melting pot of musical ideas, again not trying to achieve a club track filled long play but a whole listening experience, not focusing only on dancing matters but also on every day musical enjoyment. With the forward-thinking distribution and collaboration from the Rotterdam based power house, Clone Records and looking for a way to create a more independent environment for his releases, Felipe is creating his own "Wide Awake", a new record label focused only on sharing and creating a platform for his constant output. Berlin-based Amy Dabbs makes a long-awaited return to Shall Not Fade with Green Room EP - four uptempo club heaters spanning UKG, high-energy house, and breaks.
The EP’s title pays homage to Renate’s Green Room, the floor within the renowned Berlin club where Dabbs has held her residency since early 2023. Each track was both written for and road-tested at her monthly Dabbs Traxx events in this space, where she’s cultivated a tight-knit community of UKG lovers in the heart of Berlin.
“When I started writing this EP, my goal was to create music that would fit perfectly into my nights in the Green Room, bringing in the London sounds I grew up on, across all the genres I usually play at Renate. This EP is a tribute to everything Renate has given me: opportunity, community, and a platform for my authentic UK sound.”
Opening track Take Me High launches straight into peak-time territory, with old-school-inspired rave stabs, staccato vocal flicks, and deep, subby basslines. Over You turns the heat up even further - a track built from choppy vocals and UKG basslines before melting into a warm chord progression; a perfect example of Dabbs’ ability to fuse high-energy rhythms with spine-tingling emotion.
On the flip side, Style & Pattern, featuring the signature tones of London’s Alfie Fraser, is a pure UKG cut - underpinned by lush pads and arpeggiators, topped with Alfie’s unmistakable live vocals to create an uplifting dancefloor heater dripping with London swagger. Closing the EP, The Way delivers a tear-jerking breakbeat finale, layering syncopated percussion, emotive vocals, and an old-school piano breakdown; it’s a sublime end-of-the-night moment and a fitting closing track for an EP which honours one of Berlin’s most beloved clubs.

LP2 Coninues his exploration of emotive, dreamy atmospheres. soaked with rich pads and otherworldly arpeggios, juxtposing it with hectic drum machines, deep bass lines and unusual sampling evoking industrial music. Its a slightly warmer and in a way more soothing album than LP1, but at the same time more dance oriented as well, at some point reminiscent of Earth Trax early deep house singles. Its fascinating insight in world building extending the author's ideas from previous records (either as Earth Trax or Bartosz Kruczynski downtempo releases) much further and treating them more as a starting point rather than reusing them. LP2 again features the gorgeous photography of Kasia Zacharko and design of Kaja Kukula.

His debut release on Shall Not Fade, Amor Fati EP is a perfectly curated four tracker of jazz with a modern twist, as shown on the opening track and first single "Lone Raver" and its bittersweet chords that blend with melancholy vocals and open out into a euphoric dancy beat. The anthemic trance overtones carry through to "Rah That's a Mad Question", which takes classic piano house vibes and more summertime heat with its Balaeric energy.

Errare Humanum Est comes from the Latin proverb "To err is human" as a musician and a human-being, you are constantly facing "mistakes" on your compositional work and your instrumental interpretation, Felipe Gordon presents his second conceptual album under this premise, you should accept and make mistakes as a crucial part of art and life. During late 2022 and beginning of 2023, the musician and producer worked on a new long play in his home studio "El Dorado" in Bogot?, Colombia. Trying to create a whole new concept and universe he re-visited some forgotten musical sketches, going from breakbeats, synthesis, boom bap, deep acid and house music Felipe presents us his new album, a melting pot of musical ideas, again not trying to achieve a club track filled long play but a whole listening experience, not focusing only on dancing matters but also on every day musical enjoyment. With the forward-thinking distribution and collaboration from the Rotterdam based power house, Clone Records and looking for a way to create a more independent environment for his releases, Felipe is creating his own "Wide Awake", a new record label focused only on sharing and creating a platform for his constant output. Influenced in equal parts by the still towering Prescription Underground and the New York singularity that was a young Bobby Konders, Mute managed to create a sound of his own. Marked by live arrangements, bedroom studio aesthetics, a love for dub music and a tempo that was more boogie than techno, it has not lost an inch of its charm. A proposition that probably led Leon Vynehall to pick the hypnotic Never for his Fabric mix.
