Dimensions Recordings is proud to welcome London Modular Alliance back to the fold with their most dynamic and exciting release to date. Following on from 2017’s superb Hands & Brains EP, the group present four new tracks on the ‘Materials EP’.
Across the release, London Modular Alliance demonstrate their depth, technicality and playfulness in an EP that will find favour with dance floor enthusiasts and electro purists in equal measure. The London based crew are now firmly instated as the UK’s prime electro proponents. From their powerful live shows and their small but perfectly sourced modular gear store in East London to their ever growing and impeccable catalogue, LMA are now established as a key artists in a reinvigorated and bristling electro scene worldwide.
Moons Delux’s ‘Know No Better (London Modular Alliance Remix)’ is a crossover masterpiece. LMA’s take on the Irish band’s song sees them use a sprawling, vocal introduction, (with a vocal that might be more reminiscent of the likes of Caribou or even Thom Yorke) which eventually breaks to give way to a devastating barrage of beats that will no doubt see a broad range of DJs find space in their bags for it. ‘No Response’ strips things right back, tight, minimal production which is brimming with elastic funk and character - electro boogie. On the flip, ‘Chrome’ is a purist masterclass, energetic percussion, deep sub bass and detailed arrangement make it a versatile cut. The EP rounds off with ‘Super Jupiter’, and by no means are LMA letting up - the very fact that a track of this stature is final cut on the EP shows the sheer craftsmanship on display.

Marcos Cabral returns to L.I.E.S. with a new six track mini lp after a run of cult releases for The Trilogy Tapes as Chemotex. Here we get Cabral in top form falling somewhere in-between his last works for L.I.E.S. and Chemotex tracks. Through the record we get a rough yet refined style moving from metallic gnarled electro to melodic IDM and/or destructive the electronics as heard on "Secret Air". Our favorite being the introspective closer "Wearing Petrichor" Cover photo licensed from legendary NYC street photographer, Richard Sandler.

nyc producer marcos cabral, often releasing certain dj weapons from the labels as l.i.e.s, the triology tapes gave the birth to 3 tracks with punchy energetic machine-ism. his polyrhythms(which makes us addicted,) and lo-fi hardware pulse always set some hooks to our mind, which we found in boosted drum lines and sometimes industrial noises as a1 and b1. set up with b2 which is also nicely balanced deep house tune, it is definitely capturing aesthetics of roughness and fineness as whole ep.

New York's Marcos Cabral has not so quietly been creeping up on unsuspecting victims of modern electronic music through the last years. His project as Chemotex for Trilogy Tapes singlehandly executed a type of out of sync shuffle jack not seen since the days or early Rush or even Cajual which have had floorboard pulling effects in clubs when dropped. *Download Code Included* TIP! Under his birth name, Cabral released a double lp of archive material on L.I.E.S. in 2013 which slipped under the radar yet set a precedent of what was to come as he took his sound back to his roots. An ep and a half plus some comp tracks later (you may have heard Dancing on Manhattan on Ben UFO's essential mix) and Cabral has now delivered a fully realized lp of material for 2015 the aptly titled "Buried Alive Twice" Buried Alive Twice will not send you slam jacking to death, but rather slowly deliver you to the furthest ends of your mind. It's a subtle trip that if you're not careful will leave you smack in the middle of a Hanna Barbarra bizzaro world episode wondering how to get out of its twisted reality. It swims, sinks, pushes, pulls, drives, crashes, gets sent to the hospital, gets operated on and sent home through these six songs. One may think this is a lot to deal with and well, yes, it is....

Known for his releases on Hamilton Dance and On the Prowl Party Breaks, Marcos Cabral comes from Brooklyn, New York, and needs no introduction for the house music lovers... After been fascinated with his work, we decided to approach Marcos to try to join him on our new project, A Harmless Deed, because we thought it was exactly the type of artist and music we were looking for and when we recieved the demo we were not let down at all. Land of Tar EP is a mixture of oldschool sounds with a modern and personal point of view. On the A side we can find "Pitch Lake", our favourite track on the package. Already tested and probed to be working perfectly on the dancefloor, it yet has a deep, weird and beautiful touch. B side is more classic chicago influenced, on the old Mr Fingers type, 707, synthy melodies, pads and strings... Must have!

First up we have a remix by Canadian Jeremy Glenn (We Play House, Future Classic). Jeremy turns Marcos Cabral's original "Sweet & Sour" into an epic deep house masterpiece. It's reminiscent of Raze's "Break 4 Love" while sounding modern and fresh. On A2 we have the original "Sweet & Sour". Marcos shows his ear for classic ambient music with a 5 minute piece that arpeggiates and delays into outer space. 100% Beautiful DX7 styled sounds throughout. Starting things off on the B-Side is Marcos' "It's On You" (Haunted Club Dub). And it's just that... sounding haunted with freaked out and reversed vocal snippets and jacking drums/bassline combo. A bit on the Murk productions side of things for sure. B2 is "Nothing On My Mind" which opens up with and over saturated bell sound and turns into hi-hat skipping techno with huge rattling build ups. The overlaid vocals filters in and out focus throughout leaving the listener lost in music.

Some of you might know NYC’s Marcos Cabral from his work as half the duo Runaway. Together with Jacques Renault, Runaway has stacked up a slew of releases and remixes over the past few years. The labels they’ve worked for include, DFA, Rekids, Wurst Music Co, Chinatown, I’m A Cliche, Crue-L, Mule, Endless Flight, Need Want, Fina, Solar Disco, Aus, Under The Shade, Plant Music, Turntable Lab, Spectral, Playout, Permanent Vacation, Nervous, Ohm, Tartelet, and their very own label On The Prowl. Their resume is very telling of their musical abilities. This year, Marcos has decided to push the envelope even further and create something a bit more personally reflective…his new label Hamilton Dance Records. Just as the label artwork foreshadows, the presentation becomes blurred. Edits, originals, creative sampling, it’s all lumped together with a certain vision. Special dance-floor tools being the most obvious.

Party Breaks unabashedly shows it?s colors with 4 new brilliant Marcos Cabral edits. With samples ranging from boogie, to piano house, to a beefed up disco ballad, Marcos layers sounds and phrases in an effortless manor for major effect. Sometimes Robin S will peak through, sometimes Bob-A-Rella?all within a strict drum machine groove. All the tracks were clearly built with the DJ in mind, repetitive when wanting to hypnotize, and pop when wanting to catch listeners.

Charles Webster - Music (Luciano Vocal Mix)
Dimensions Recordings present an all-new dancefloor-ready remix package of tracks from Charles Webster's 'Decision Time' LP. The release of Charles Webster's highly-acclaimed 'Decision Time' in late 2020 marked his first album project in almost 20 years. An undeniable master of his craft, Webster delivered a body of work that was well worthy of the wait and saw support from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Gilles Peterson, Joe Muggs and Tom Ravenscroft. With collaborators ranging from Shara Nelson (formerly of Massive Attack), to Ingrid Chavez (Prince muse & Madonna songwriter) and of course the infamous Burial, the British DJ/producer demonstrated that his ability to draw the right partners to exactly the right projects and execute them perfectly, has only improved with time. In this vinyl remix package, Webster once more demonstrates his draw, drafting in an impressive cast of remixers to deliver a varied set of fresh takes on his original works. Tokyo duo Dazzle Drums, South Africa's Jazzuelle, UK stalwart Mark E and the global trotting DJ Luciano present their unique takes on three cuts from Webster's incredible full length release.

DJ Aakmael - - Transit
Over the past six years, Dimensions has firmly marked its place as a leading name in the underground, with its festival, International Series, DJ Directory and Dimensions Soundsystem. Now, Dimensions is ready to extend its influence with the start of its label imprint - Part 2 turns the heat up with more dance floor leaning contributions from four American artists, each delivering something very different but equally powerful. Marcos Cabral's 'Prochainement' is a driving, dubbed out melter with stomping kicks and big-room claps under fuzzy synths, whilst Byron The Aquarius drops his signature dose of funk into 'Full Moon'. One of the standout breakthrough artists of last year, the Atlanta producer has been part of the Dimensions team for some time. Queen of Beatdown, Lady Blacktronika steps up with a timeless, tripped-out house classic for her contribution 'Can We Still Be Friends?', her vocal oozing melancholy. Rounding up is DJ Aakmael with 'Transit'; a raw, flexing cut that we've come to expect via his massively impressive output and his own superb imprint, Unxpozd.

Obsolete Music Technology - - Comb Freq
Over the past six years, Dimensions has firmly marked its place as a leading name in the underground, with its festival, International Series, DJ Directory and Dimensions Soundsystem. Now, Dimensions is ready to extend its influence with the start of its label imprint - Dimensions Recordings explores its darker side on Part three with intergalactic oddities and twisted techno constructions, the release is definitely one for the late hours. 'Crosstalk' from gear heads London Modular Alliance opens; a squelching, electro, hardware excursion demonstrating a small snippet of what's to come from the talented trio. Next, French artist, Upwellings steps up to demonstrate his purist approach as he unites elements of dub and techno to create the beautifully spacey 'Soft Shadows'. The third offering comes courtesy of Chicago's Steven Tang in his Obsolete Music Technology guise. 'Comb Freq,' a devastatingly powerful mix of acidic, bleeping dance floor energy! To finish the winning release is Fachwerk label boss and prolific techno artist, Mike Dehnert; who presents raw but melodic track in 'Tokio,'which maintains his minimal and stripped back aesthetic beautifully.

Over the past six years, Dimensions has firmly marked its place as a leading name in the underground, with its festival, International Series, DJ Directory and Dimensions Soundsystem. Now, Dimensions is ready to extend its influence with the start of its label imprint - Part 1 calls upon artists from different corners of the globe who share the similarity of undeniable soul and expression in their music. The EP has an earthy, worldly feel to it. From the Swahili sung harmonies on Mim Suleiman's 'Pole Pole', to the afro influences of Swiss collective Alma Negra's 'Onga', both tracks work raw percussion with just enough swing that either would sit comfortably within late-night UK dance floors or on the sun-kissed beaches of Pula. Then there's the jazz-tinted glow of Istanbul's Kerem Akdag whose 'Getdownsoclose' deep roller makes use of lush pads and rushing snares. Closing is Maryland's James Tillman, who's soulful vocals on 'Wander' sit gracefully over transcendental keys and compellingly loose drumming, rounding off Part 1 with a cleanse of the soul.

Dimensions Recordings are very proud to present 'Decision Time', the first major solo album from the legendary Charles Webster in two decades.
Operating in house music since the mid '80s, Charles Webster is revered as something like the producer's producer, spoken about in the same breath as Larry Heard or Ron Trent amongst the DJ cognoscenti.
Growing up in the Peak District and falling in love with electronic music through a parent's Kraftwerk record, Charles' apprenticeship was with Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson, back when they'd record at Square Dance studio in Nottingham, where Charles worked as a recording engineer. His production work started right at the roots of electronic music in the British Isles, writing tracks for electro/breakdance outfit The Rock City Crew and 1987 UK house cut T-CUT-F. Since then he's released music under 30 different pseudonyms with over 500 remixes.
'Decision Time' is Charles' first major solo record since 2001's 'Born On The 24th July', and features an array of artists from a number of different eras, guises and genres Charles has been involved with over his prolific career.
After moving to San Francisco in the late nineties, he created an album under the alias Presence entitled 'All Systems Gone'. The "pillowy" sound design of this classic is cited as a key influence on the music of Burial. For 'Decision Time', Burial has paid a further tribute here, contributing a rare co-production, 'The Second Spell'. This track featuring the words of Prince muse Ingrid Chavez. who also wrote the spoken word poetry in Madonna's 'Justify My Love'.
Charles was at the forefront of the halcyon years of deep house, working with vocal talents like Robert Owens, Tracey Thorn, Terra Deva (aka Furry Freaks), who features here on 'Wait And See', and Shara Nelson, perhaps best known for her vocals on Massive Attack's 'Blue Lines' album, featuring here on 'This Is Real'.
Charles' influence also spreads to the South African house scene with his Presence single 'Better Day' becoming a huge radio hit there in 1997. Charles later moved to South Africa and immersed himself in the local scene, collaborating with some of the country's most exciting talent, including Sio, Thandi Draai and Sipho – all of whom appear on this project.
With an album of this quality and the 20-year cycles of electronic culture, it feels like this is the perfect moment to celebrate the brilliance of Charles Webster's legacy. From the downtempo soul of 'This Is Real', to the impressionistic words and ethereal two-step on 'The Spell', a new generation of ears are about to discover the influential underground sound of Charles Webster.
