Comet Records is so thrilled to present Psyco on Da Bus 20th Anniversary, for the occasion it will be reissued as a Double Vinyl LP and newly remastered.

Recorded in just few weeks in the US during Tony Allen's Black Voices album tour in Spring 2000, on Doctor L’s G3 in different places as hotels rooms, local studios (Nyc, Toronto) and the tour bus.
Doctor L and the members of Tony Allen & Afrobeat 2000 band get the idea of making a collective album alltogether, co-writing both songs and music a
nd creating a new spectrum that reflects their different musical backgrounds. Doctor L, Tony Allen, Jean-Phi Dary, Cesar Anot, Jeff Kellner are the “psyco bus” members.
Completed later in Paris with guests artists like Smadj, Dom Farkas and Eric Guathier, Psyco On Da Bus project fill the gap between the 70's and the new millenium, blending afrobeat rhythms, gospel & soul vocals, jazz & funk licks with wicked electronics and astonishing production.

From the futuristic funk of “Afropusherman” to the eastern sounds of “Many Questions” or the killer floor filler “Push your mind Breakbeat” , from the underrated spiritual suite “Time To Take A Rest”, hybrid fusion of free jazz, poetry, rare groove and nu-beats, to the outstanding “Never Satisfied”.
Last but not least the artwork was created and produced by the talented french graphist designer, filmmaker Edouard Salier. Tony told about his collaboration with Doctor L on this project in 2001: “Younger people are coming into Afrobeat right now. And I personally don't want to be past, I want to be future. Young people like hip-hop, and techno, which is what I must think about. It's the direction I want to take. It's an experiment I've wanted to try. That's why I wanted Doctor L to produce the album.” More

Comet Records presents from Afrobeat pioneer Tony Allen, N.E.P.A Reissue LP Vinyl remastered and
coming in an heavy Deluxe Tip-On Jacket.
In 1979, Tony Allen decided to leave Fela Kuti & Africa 70 and moved to London in 1982. Originally
Released in 1984 on Earthworks Records, this reissue holds an extra track previously unreleased on vinyl
called “Olokun”. N.E.P.A (Never Expect Power Always) is a searing critique of the Nigerian Electric Power
Authority, an organisation that governed the use of electricity in Nigeria.
It starts out with the title track, with a definite Afro-beat punch. Electro-claps stand as part of the
percussion line, adding to a more modern look at what Afro-beat was becoming.
This is followed by an even further modernized piece of Afro-beat, as the title track is given a dub mix.
“When One Road Close” has a similar pace, and is similarly followed by a dub remix, complete with the
necessary space-effects reverb.
And to make this reissue extra special the track “Olokun” was never released on vinyl before.
Blending the nascent rise of electronica into Afrobeat production, it’s tighter than any Fela album and
became a definitive project in shaping Allen’s future sound. Whether it’s the electro beats or the punchier,
multilayered arrangement, it instantly stands out in Allen’s vast and expansive discography.

Comet is pleased to announce the third volume of the Afrobeat Makers Series: Nu Guinea - The Tony Allen Experiments.

By re-working the original magic drum patterns from the Afrobeat master Tony Allen, Nu Guinea created a compilation of tracks which is charged by a voluminous electronic jazz-Psyche funk imprint.

For this release, Comet Records teamed up with Early Sounds Recordings, the berlin label, also home to duo Berliners Nu Guinea.

The Naples formed, Berlin-based duo, is a project that arose out of jam sessions, melting synthesizers with instruments, containing a handmade sound that is not aiming for perfection but genuineness. It can be understood as a steadily shaping form, always open for collaborations with other musicians.

They've previously collaborated with singer Wayne Snow (fellow berliner artist on Comet) for the vocal edit of Nu-World, also delivered a remix for Wayne Snow’ ?Rosie Ep' both recently released on Tartelet Records.

Comet Records is excited to present Afro Rhythms Vol. 1 the first repress since 1999 of Singles and
Remixes out of Black Voices’s LP from Tony Allen Afrobeat pioneer, along with the iconic Psyco On Da
Bus creating a new sound between experimental, electronica and afrobeat, both albums produced by sound
activist Doctor L.
The compilation is a proper trawl through the vault of the early years of Comet Records featuring
producers and artists as IG Culture, Eska, Catalyst aka Alex Attias, Psycho On Da Bus Featuring Doctor
L and Tony Allen, Cinematic Orchestra and the legendary Parisian duo Chateau Flight.
The tracks "The Drum" and "Brotherhood" produced respectively by IG Culture (Son Of Scientist) and
Cinematic Orchestra are part of The Allenko Brotherhood Ensemble project, a collaboration between the
unique drumming style of Tony Allen and the best in contemporary producers.
Comet label continues its hypnotic elliptical orbit through radical funk realms and dancefloor wormholes,
connecting to five decades of music from four continents and still heading for the future, a pure and positive
light to guide our way on.

four solo albums of Tony Allen remastered and restored: Jealousy, Progress, No Accomodation for Lagos
& No Discrimination, all coming in an heavy Deluxe Tip-On Jacket.
Tony's solo album, No Discrimination, marks an important turning point in Tony Allen's musical life. Tony
had recently left Fela's band, which was clearly an emotional yet necessary change as Allen sings of love and
brotherhood throughout his fourth solo album. No Discrimination, both in composition and sound, is a
blueprint for the future of Afrobeat, decades ahead of its time. The songs are a mixture of old and new -
fusing the classic Afrobeat compositional style with modern production and ideas. Classic tunes like "No
Discrimination" and "Ariya" pushed boundaries for what Afrobeat could be, which a wave of Afrobeat
bands would pick up on decades later.
With No Discrimination, Tony begins to move Afrobeat into the future, which he would continue doing for
the rest of his career.
Tony Allen was a musical and compositional visionary, and this album finds him beginning to explore that
vision outside of Fela's immense gravitational pull. They are the start of a new era in Tony's fruitful career
as a solo artist, opening the floodgates for his distinctive Afro-Funk sound and laying the foundation
for the next generation of Afrobeat musicians to come. More

Produced by Fela Kuti in 1975, Tony Allen’s first solo album with Afrika 70, Jealousy, is like the man himself: light on its feet yet deeply settled, spacious yet bursting with magical talent. On the title track “Jealousy,” Tony is joyously in his element, conducting one of the mightiest bands in the world - he is the head chef, and the band is cooking. The second track, “Hustler” features one of the most iconic solos in drumming history, a rare glimpse into Tony’s gift of musical phrasing - it is possibly the best example of Tony’s ability to literally speak through his beloved drumset.
