Loose Joints - No Title
THE definitive collection of one of dance music's most enduring and infamous left-field anthems, across 2 x 12"s and 1 x bonus 33rpm 7"! The collaborative team of Arthur Russell and Steve D'Acquisto crafted some of the best wonky disco not disco cuts during their short lifespan and 'Is It All Over My Face' is one of their crowning glories. Collected here, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this gloriously weird record, are all the best versions from then, and now. Even a quick dig in the archive yielded some treats with the male and female acapella appearing for the first time EVER, featuring on a specially 33rpm cut 7" alongside Larry Levan's promo 7" mixes. Also, the instrumental version has never been released before, but it is here for this very special limited package in it's full, unedited glory. This is one for the heads, an essential do-not-miss RSD special edition for those who are still 'love dancin' 4 decades later, housed in a classic special West End disco-bag. Don't sleep! A1. Is It Al Over My Face (Female Vocal), A2. Is It All Over My Face (Original 12" Version), B1. Is It All Over My Face (Masters At Work Remix), B2. Is It All Over My Face (MAW Joint Dub), C. Is It All Over My Face (Original Full Length Version), D1. Is It All Over My Face (Kon's Duet Mix), D2. Is It All Over My Face (Instrumental Mix); 7":, A. Is It All Over My Face (7" Female Vocal), B. Is It All Over My Face (Female Acapella)

Loose Joints' Pop Your Funk: The Complete Singles Collection will be released on vinyl via West End Records for Record Store Day. The tracks Arthur Russell created for Loose Joints are among his most enduring, dance floor-ready productions. The group has been the subject of various rounds of reissues courtesy of West End, but this coming April version is for the completists, taking its basis from a 2013 Japan-only CD set. Included across six sides are six versions of "Is It All Over My Face," among them Larry Levan's original "Female Vocal Version" and two 2001 remixes from Masters At Work. The Record Store Day release also includes various takes of the group's other singles, "Pop Your Funk" and "Tell You Today." Contains 10" lyric sheet insert.

Brenda Taylor - You Can't Have Your Cake And Eat It Too (Michael Gray & Dr Packer Remix)
2
NYC Peech Boys - Dont Make Me Wait (Dr Packer & Michael Gray Remix)
As no strangers to the West End Records back catalogue – both having taken on remix duties individually in the past – 2022 sees Michael Gray and Dr Packer combine to give two classics the Rework treatment. Brenda Taylor’s seminal “You Cant Have Your Cake And Eat It To” is finessed into a contemporary disco standard: Taylor’s voice still cutting through with plenty of soul while synth and pianos provide the groove. “Don’t Make Me Wait” cuts a slightly edgier tone, with acid-like bleeps and plenty of reverb making it a perfect counter track as part of this release.

West End records open the vaults once more to today's top editors and remixers. This incredible 12" sees the mighty PBR Streetgang take the reigns for 2 gems from the stash! Nicely cut n pasted for the DJ's, dropped at the right time this one will go off! On the flip is North End's 1979 jam 'Kind of life, kind of love', boasting some serious harmonica and an almost AOR feel, the PBR version clocks in at 10+ mins of building dancefloor magic! NYC's Disco powerhouse West End Records should need no intro. The home of too-numerous-to-list club classics for over 30+ years is still impacting today on what we know to be club culture. The label started by one Mel Cheren (RIP) with assistance from Larry Levan and more way back in 1976 is still held in such high regard today with it's catalogue constantly being played, rediscovered, reinterpreted and loved by waves and waves of new fans and admirers.
From the West End vaults we are pleased to present Ednah Holt's 'Serious, Sirius Space Party', a thundering, slo-mo, bass-heavy slab of NYC electronic funk that will sound familiar to those who paid close attention to what the maestro Larry Levan was doing in his sacred booth at the Garage in 1981, or to those who tuned in to peep what the master Afrika Islam was doing on his now semi-religious, hip-hop blueprint 'Zulu Beat Show' on WHBI. That's right, you can guarantee if those 2 guys were playing your record in the city at the same time then you had an underground 'hit' on your hands. The fact that it crossed over from the discotheques to the streets and back again speaks of the appeal of this super heavyweight jam, the legendary team up of Kenton 'Kenix' Nix, Larry himself on the mix, and former Ritchie Family vocalist Ednah Holt makes for some heady listening. One for the after hours dancers, B-Boys and B-Girls and lovers of the downtempo workout. A true and essential NYC classic.
All tracks featured re-mastered, re-pressed and re-released with the permission of and in conjunction with West End Records, New York City / BMG.

Chicago's finest DJ Rahaan has teamed up with the now legendary Liverpool Disco Festival for an ultra-dope double 12" offering of legit, fully licensed and fully flipped remixes and re-edits from the West End vaults. Sounds like Disco heaven, right? In order to be let loose in the vaults you really need to know your stuff and we all agree that Rahaan Ra knows his stuff! This dream collabo sees him (respectfully) touching some of the jams that made West End the dance music powerhouse that is today. That's right, we're talking rarities, foundation tracks, the cornerstones of modern club music. These are wonderfully executed and brand spanking new versions of classics, who says 'you can't have your cake and eat it too'? Well, Brenda Taylor actually, and that is only one of the joints on this special release alongside Mahogany's Boogie anthem 'Ride on the rhythm', Chuck Davis' 'Spirit of sunshine' and Billy Nichols' 'Give your body up to the music'. Spread across 2 hefty slabs of beautifully mastered wax we get to enjoy Rahaan's reworks in all their uninterrupted glory, just as the Disco gods intended. Truly a match made in heaven, you will not want to miss out on this essential, extra-fresh West End / Rahaan / Liverpool Disco Festival release!

Another West-End sure-shot! This sublime piece of early electronic Boogie has always worn it's "classic" badge with a relaxed sense of pride since it's release in 1982, perhaps it's the languid synthed out groove supplied by studio maestros Nick martinelli & David Todd or Brenda Taylor's sublime vocals reminding us all that the game of love is always a 2 way street that are to blame? Whatever it is, this is a solid, classic slice of Disco gold, more on the down to mid-tempo tip but still big enough to keep the dance-floors packed from the Garage to the Loft & beyond with ease! The production simply sounds years ahead of it's time (still does!) & it has the FUNK in bucket-loads, this is as essential as it gets, the real deal. Featured here are all the original mixes that were on the 1982 pressing (Yes! There's a dub mix!). Re-mastered, re-pressed & re-released for 2015 with all original West End Records label artwork intact. Done in conjunction & with the permission of all right holders.
