It all started with a handful of cash but ended in eviction. Always intended as a story in two parts, Jules Smith aka October's Eviction EP is the six-son follow up to his Pay Day EP, we unleashed in late 2018. An album's worth of material made 'just for Honey Soundsystem' Jules is back with his sleazy Prophet-one driven industrial disco. As indulgent as the rave sirens and snare pummels on the title track seem, October's sheer mastery in production and studio mixing turn these tongue-in-cheek-in-your-face nightclub firecrackers into delicacies. Oh! And file 'Larry Bruce Chest Thumper' under Front 242 and i:Cube doing a line off of an iPhone together

Honey Soundsystem met October (aka Jules) while on a one-night affair in Bristol in which he immediately dragged us from an artist dinner to the saddest Bear bar in the UK. After a few pints, vetting his taste for drag, boys, and girls that make love to boys who make love to boys, Jules confessed he has always wanted to release on HNYTRX. And so the hazing began, a year of torturing yet another sexy-stranger into refreshing, reminding, and refining a flurry of demos into the army of skeleton soldiers you now have in possession. Money drops, midnight withdrawals, 4 crisp singles: this is the Pay Day EP — gonna make that dance-floor “cha-ching” bitch! A lot of people hate October so... that is why we are releasing this record in September. But seriously though, upon cracking open this 4 track EP you might wish you had saved the vacuum seal just a couple days longer, keeping these ghosts contained until the month where screaming winds strip trees nude

After the success of the first release, Tanstaafl returns for their second wax adventure, this time with the musical renegade Dj October at the helm. October has entered a new phase of production for the TANSTAAFL series and has focused himself firmly on a reduced, stripped and effective formula for the floor. His productions are heavy, smoked out narcoleptic dub infused journey's, and his latest 12 offers more or less of the same opaque vibe but with his sights firmly set on the floor, with one foot in the past and the other in the future - drawing from his usual Detroit, NYC and Chicago influences. So we kick off 2012 with a future classic, 'Singularity Jump', which douses you in synthesized Saxophone hooks, chopped vocal samples and a meaty Juno Hip-House inspired bass-line. 'Planet Of Minds' is more of a inner space affair very much inspired by acid and dub. Successfully combining the two, October injects more of an airy feel into the mix and delivers a mo ody cosmic acid jam that will not fail your dancing feet or tripped-out mind. Definitely one for the later hours... This is going to be an anthem, hands down, so get it before it's gone for good.

October, - String Theory (feat. Borai)
After reaching the milestone of 50 vinyl 12"s in February of last year Will Saul decided it was a good moment to put the label into retirement. Whilst focusing on his other label of love Aus Music and writing an artist album he had no intention of starting the label again. Through his good friend Appleblim Will was introduced to Julian 'October' Smith and they began working on music together in the summer of last year. Jules played Will 'String Theory' and 'Tension Point' and he was blown away…he felt he had to re-start the label to showcase such beautiful and original house music. The package comes complete with two first-rate remixes from the Dutch producer Legowelt (aka Danny Wolfers) and one of his many aliases, Polarius. Since his first label, Caravan Records back in 2007, October has been steadily rising in profile and creativity. In that short time his brand of off-kilter house and techno has also appeared on Perspectiv, Misericord, Jack Off and Immerse, and been championed by the likes of Ewan Pearson and Appleblim. He will be the first artist other than Skudge to release original material on their label and has 2 EP's forthcoming for them alongside an EP for Applepips. He also recently started a new label 'TANSTAAFL', which has been widely praised by the music press, and sets the course for more of the jacking dancefloor house and techno he is known for. Legowelt began producing in the early 90s after he came into contact with the sounds of Detroit's Underground Resistance, Model 500, Blake Baxter and Chicago heroes such as Farley Jackmaster Funk, Armando Gallop and Mr. Fingers. He has released a dozen or so projects on various formats, many of them on vinyl via Bunker records, a label based in The

Baronhawk Poitier - Gasp & Grasp
In Hollywood, they’d call an artist like Baronhawk Poitier ‘a triple threat.’ Because, alongside his bulletproof skills as a DJ, and his singular voice with percussion and beat making, he is also a bonafide battle-ready freestyle dancer. The gay American techno scene is no stranger to this, as we’ve been booking him, passing around his edits, and g’fawing after his flying feet for years. In Washington D.C. where he throws the TNX queer warehouse parties and helps organize the Urban Artistry dance battles, he is a household name. And it isn’t just the party queens having it for Baronhawk, in 2015 even the National Endowment for the Arts awarded him a grant to understudy with Baltimore club legend Karizma. It seems almost criminal to us that this will be the first time many of you will be hearing Baronhawk’s productions. With that in mind, and in anticipation of your first date, Poitier has come to ring your doorbell with a bucket of the smelliest roses. A 4-track EP that delivers all the musical facets of this young sensei, including some hook-laden southern-fried-disco, a Bristolian-favela dub, a jettison lever synth tech-thumper, and even a little vocal hello on the low tempo pad-meets-acid funk of ‘Lowside Heights’. It’s a rollercoaster of range, all tied up in a bow that what will soon be known as Poitiers signature take on drum programming. A1. Temperado Tornado, A2. Phakie Phatty, B1. Lowside Heights, B2. Gasp & Grasp

DJs Pareja - the After
The DJs Pareja have been flagging they’re a DJ duo in love long before the recent trend. ‘Pareja’ literally translates as ‘couple’, and that is just how Diego and Mariano do life; in tandem. It may not seem so radical these days, but the Pareja’s have been unapologetically queer trailblazers in their hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina - throwing raves and putting out pop dance records for decades. It took us years to get these boys to come play for us in San Francisco, but when they finally did, minutes off the plane we were hugging and shedding a little tear in front of the Castro theatre sign. I always knew that one day we would get them on the label, and this EP is a product of how far this new gay techno underground has come. So it is with great pleasure we present 4 tracks produced south of the Equator, mixed for the gods, with some signature vocals and some sounds we’ve never heard from these Argy boys sleeping in a Queen bed.
