After being one of the many standouts on the ‘We Are Opilec…! Vol. III’ compilation back in 2016, I-Robots’ ‘Glamouflage’ is now getting a full vinyl release with artwork by Tomozo Kevorkian, who was designer for NYC’s Body & Soul, and remixes by a standout team of producers from Japan to Switzerland to South Africa and the USA. Opening up the EP is a fantastic new Take II version from label boss I-Robots, who added exclusive Chinese vocal samples recorded on the streets of Huang Jiang City many years ago. The track is inspired by Ennio Morricone and Supermax and is a loose and infectious groove with brilliant drums and percussion and an elastic bassline that really gets you moving. It’s a subtle update to the original—also included here as a bonus cut—which itself is a steamy and tropical sounding groove. Swiss electronic pioneer Schaltkreis Wassermann then features on a version of the original that reaches for the cosmos with its rugged bass riffs, tumbling toms and busy, ever evolving groove. It has a big breakdown with exotic synths wandering through the night and oodles of effects and big guitar licks.

The next project on Opilec Music is a fine EP produced by label boss I-Robots together with the legendary Piatto brothers, Alessandro and Davide, and comes with an unreleased dub as well as a remix by Rekids boss Radio Slave. Davide Piatto is a member of N.O.I.A. who co-produced the original 'Dirty Talk' single and seminal De-Ja-Vu album of legendary proto-house outfit Klein & M.B.O. in 1982 while Donna McGhee exclusively agreed to provide the vocals for the I-Robots remake released by Opilec earlier this year. The new version of this track presented on this great new EP uses exactly the same vintage equipment and as such the 'Unreleased Dub' is six minutes of dubbed out bliss with pixelated chords, soaring synth lines and slick grooves that come laced with arpeggiated disco dazzle. A rugged bassline underpins the whole thing and it is easy to see why this one is already in such hot demand. The Original Acapella, without any beats, is also included for DJs who like to do their own tricks, and then there is the incredible Radio Slave Magnetic Feel Remix already played by Dixon and thus one of the most sought after tunes of Sonar 2015. Radio Slave is a big Italo Disco fan who wanted to remix this classic for Opilec Music and already Felix Da Housecat is playing it, whilst DJ Hell, youANDme and Rocky Jones from D.J. International Chicago all personally requested it.

Virgo Four - Dirty Talk (I-Robots Reconstruction)
The Opilec Music label has once again cooked up a very special new project for its next EP: 'Dirty Talk' is a remake of the classic '80s Italo disco, proto-house tune by Klein & M.B.O. and has been produced by label boss I-Robots. The release comes with a Club Version made by I-Robots together with the Piatto Brothers, Alessandro & Davide, who bring a truly authentic Italo sound to the project with the use of the same vintage hardware utilised on the original (Roland SH1, Roland 808 etc). Davide Piatto was part of seminal act N.O.I.A., was the musician that provided the guitar & synth lines and all the electronic programming on the original 1982 version and was behind the Klein & M.B.O. productions along with Mario Boncaldo (r.i.p.) and Tony Carrasco. The original recording featured the vocals of Italian pop singer Rossana Casale and this vocal mix alongside the ever popular instrumental played a key part in the formation of Chicago fledgling House music sound. For this re-imaging I-Robots decided to update it and contacted cult disco soul singer, Donna McGhee of The Fatback Band, The Phreek and Universal Robot Band to provide a stunning new vocal. The club version is a dazzling bit of cosmic, lovably retro sounding disco-house with lush arps, sombre chords and seductive vocals from McGhee. Arranged and produced faithfully like the original, this is sure to once again grab the's world's attention. The Virgo Four original version (a digital only track) is a more modern sounding, deeper and stripped back house cut with driving rubbery drums and bouncy melodies, whilst the I-Robots Reconstruction is a deep and atmospheric, almost spiritual version, with whispered vocals, standout melodies and tons of colour in its grooves. This very special release is a collectors' edition that very much charts the earliest roots of Chicago house music. A remix Ep will follow soon with reworks by Gene Hunt and Radio Slave.

Initially released in 2006, ‘Revep’ is the third collaboration album between Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto and the third installment of V.I.R.U.S.’s five albums series.
Remastered in 2021 in collaboration with Calyx Studio, the album’s recordings are accompanied by three new compositions titled ‘City Radieuse’, ‘Veru 1’, and ‘Veru 2’.
‘City Radieuse’ was composed for the 2012 short cinematic essay titled ‘Cité Radieuse’ and part of Carsten Nicolai’s ‘future past perfect’ series.
The video shot at le Corbusier’s Unité D’Habitation in Nantes (called ‘cité radieuse’) takes the viewer through the modular system and design applied to the residential buildings. The film’s narrative unfolds
through a sequence of images tracking the apartments’ indoor space and details, and points to the different benchmarks of standardized production as they correlate to their environment and its inhabitants.
The album’s original recordings resulted from musical exchanges that began with ‘Vrioon’ and revolved around a collaborative arrangement of Sakamoto’s classic ‘Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence,’ the theme music
to the 1983 movie starring David Bowie, Takeshi Kitano, and Ryuichi Sakamoto himself.
In ‘Revep,’ the piano takes the lead while the padded bass and pitched electronic frequencies mark sudden change. Deeply evocative and effortlessly colliding worlds of analog beauty and digital mastery,
this album is considered another indispensable record from the duo’s ongoing collaboration.

For the first time since its inception 36 years ago, Steve Hiett’s elusive Down On The Road By The Beach is finally made available outside of Japan. Most recognized in the fashion sphere as an English photographer and graphic designer, Hiett‘s transportive audio portraits amplify his serpentine guitar to the infinite blue, recorded across Paris, Tokyo and New York with no coastline in sight. Now widely celebrated as a desert island disc, very little is actually known of its unfathomable genesis.
A career devotee of Brian Wilson’s ground breaking harmonies, Hiett shot The Beach Boys for Rolling Stone - as well as The Doors, Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix (in one of his final performances at the 1970 Isle Of Wight Festival) - while establishing himself as a fashion photographer. Decamping to Paris in 1972, he began what would become 20-year collaborations with Vogue Paris and Marie Claire, printing his signature warm, saturated and vibrantly hued snapshots.
In 1982, representatives from Tokyo’s Galerie Watari visited him to propose a solo exhibition. Asking if he could insert a 7” of original music into the back of the exhibition catalogue, Hiett laid down ‘Blue Beach - Welcome To Your Beach’ in a Parisian radio station, playing all of the instruments himself, and two more cuts in New York with Yoko Ono, The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan hired-gun Elliot Randall. Once dispatched, the phone began ringing off the hook with requests for him to fly to Tokyo. Produced in coordination between Be With, Efficient Space and the artist, this definitive reissue is restored from original masters with vivid reproductions of the Down On The Road By The Beach exhibition catalogue, intended to accompany its original release, and extensive liner notes penned by fellow Steve Hiett obsessive Mikey IQ Jones.

For the first time since its inception 36 years ago, Steve Hiett’s elusive Down On The Road By The Beach is finally made available outside of Japan. Most recognized in the fashion sphere as an English photographer and graphic designer, Hiett‘s transportive audio portraits amplify his serpentine guitar to the infinite blue, recorded across Paris, Tokyo and New York with no coastline in sight. Now widely celebrated as a desert island disc, very little is actually known of its unfathomable genesis.
A career devotee of Brian Wilson’s ground breaking harmonies, Hiett shot The Beach Boys for Rolling Stone - as well as The Doors, Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix (in one of his final performances at the 1970 Isle Of Wight Festival) - while establishing himself as a fashion photographer. Decamping to Paris in 1972, he began what would become 20-year collaborations with Vogue Paris and Marie Claire, printing his signature warm, saturated and vibrantly hued snapshots.
In 1982, representatives from Tokyo’s Galerie Watari visited him to propose a solo exhibition. Asking if he could insert a 7” of original music into the back of the exhibition catalogue, Hiett laid down ‘Blue Beach - Welcome To Your Beach’ in a Parisian radio station, playing all of the instruments himself, and two more cuts in New York with Yoko Ono, The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan hired-gun Elliot Randall. Once dispatched, the phone began ringing off the hook with requests for him to fly to Tokyo. Rod Modell needs no introduction, his various projects render him a master of techno. In repetition and barely
noticeable change, Modell resculptures perceptions. His sound-design echoes cinematic ethereality, where
ferric artefacts slam against percussion, rusty delays filter observation - the resulting web is a complex,
radiating ambience that etches a natural ebb and flow.
Transformative sounds alight from the outset, “Triangulation” recalls flickering harmonies and grains, a
tectonic swipe. Fast-paced dub techno emerges in “Reiki”, the disorienting clangs suggesting a step away
from his recent ambient excursions. “Ito” crunches the pulse further with insistent noise, into soaring
epiphanies of darkened transmissions.
Modell singularly uproots standard sonic hierarchies of techno production, crisp static as forceful as his
beats, a provocation of rhythm and noise. Unceasing in its fast tempo, “Jade” is trademark Tresor business -
the seismic sub-sonics underpin a momentous drive, with reverberated vocal inflections disfiguring warped,
dancing materials. “Scrawler” is upfront and direct, a slamming groove and swaying chords di using
ethereality. Enter vast chambers of smeared minimalism.
Where Modell’s recent releases had indicated a priority for ambient sounds, this new album extends Modell’s
essential vision within techno. Closing track “Air-Port” shows Modell at his most crucial best - an ethereal
colossus of sub-bass weight and morphing geometry.

The first volume of "DISSIDÆNCE" is a sort of concentrated resume of his strengths from the past twenty years, whether it's filthy, head-spinning tornado tracks or synth-laden love songs for a summer's day. With "DISSIDÆNCE" Episode 1, whose powerful beats and galloping sequencers translate the social and political anger of the global pandemic, Vitalic looks into his past and channels his love for off-kilter synth sounds, skew-whiff pads, heady refrains, distorted vocals and heavy beats dripping with sex and sweat, but above all his obsessional passion for dance music.

Although recorded over 10 years ago in Midnight Magic’s nascent early period that produced many of their legendary hits, the song never received an official release; until now it has been heard only by select ears and lucky concert-goers. The package comes with a grip of luminous remixes by Dimitri From Paris & DJ Rocca, Sophie Lloyd, Perel, some solicited at the time of recording and some brand new, but all exceptionally fresh!

“'I Found Love' was recorded in a fever on the heels of releasing 'Beam Me Up' New York dance music wizard Tommie Sunshine approached us about a co-write saying we should go as big as possible. So we did, it is one of our all time favorite vocal performances from our singer, Tiffany Roth. We had big plans, too, for a release but nothing quite felt right until meeting the Razor N Tape crew almost a decade later. Finally the stage is set, the lights are on, and we're ready. This song is very special to us because it is the last unreleased recording of our original lineup. We dedicate its release to our late bandmates Andrew Frawley and Jason Disu.” More

Pete Herbert, In Flagranti, Jacques Lu Cont are featured. Who knows about modern disco - knows these producers. And there is a very special name here too: Nicky Siano. The now legendary New York DJ used to be resident at Studio 54 and other legendary NYC venues of the 1970ies and 1980ies. One of his are remix works was for the Gomma rcords band The KDMS. Pure disco euphoria.
