ROD, aka respected long-term Dutch activist Benny Rodrigues, hands in another burning 4 track EP for Figure SPC.
As the series approaches the zenith of its 26 chapter A-Z journey, the quality shows no sign of dropping, with ROD's crisp and characterful techno trips inspired by classic minimalist traditions.
Over four, bleep infused, tracky and positively charged cuts, ROD opens the doors for us into his latest hardware-driven studio sessions. Each track is a carefully carved snapshot, a different specific moment for the floor; the producer's talent for creating elegant moments of tense and playful Techno is clear to hear.

From the tricky, filtering rumbles of 'Truck One', to the psycho tendencies of 'Trucker One', or indeed the stuttering, head-spin of 'Trucker Two', the damage capabilities of this EP are clear. ROD's stripped and no-nonsense aesthetic, paired with a unique sense of timing and a delicate hand on the mixing desk ensure these minimalist tools also offer the touch of a long-time Techno devotee - that is to say - Timeless!
Label curator Len Faki offers up his take on 'Truck One' in a storming, action-packed ride, building on ROD's sparse palette of sound-design rumbles, and creates a straight up modern Techno roller that refuses to be shy!

ROD 2nd EP on CLR features 2 tracks that displays a style and approach he has not done before.
HKH touches the more peak time side of things, but by infusing some deep pads it creates a slightly more Detroit edge overall.
"Usually, I try to build my tracks around as minimum sounds as possible, but in this case all these lead sounds just made sense to me", says ROD.
The second track "GHT" sees ROD experimenting at a late trippy night and just flowing it out.
"This might be one of the weirdest tracks I have made so far. It reminds me it's always a good thing to search and experiment when your usual way of doing things doesn't inspire you anymore".

Hailing from Rotterdam, one of the undisputed Techno capitals of the Netherlands, Benny Rodrigues has been closely connected to the CLR crew for many years. With numerous appearances at Chris Liebing's party seasons on Ibiza, his restless dj-ing, several high quality releases on renowned labels and his regular appearances on the CLR podcast, he has gathered many loyal followers in the international Techno community. Under his real name Benny Rodrigues he is partly known for his remarkable versatility and sometimes quite House oriented sets. ROD is his alter-ego, which clearly labels his pure, straight to the point Techno productions and performances. And this is what you can expect from this release - high quality, no-nonsense Techno with loads of bass. The EP features two brand-new ROD tracks, entitled HGB and DTC. HGB is stripped down, energetic and hypnotic Techno with a thrifty and efficient use of synths. Its driving, elegant beat programming, together with its crafty, subtle effects, vividly illustrate the special handwriting of ROD. DTC is even more minimalistic and reduced to the absolute indispensable, which makes it equally effective in its own way. With those productions ROD is really on to something, and we are very happy to present you his first and surely not last CLR release.
