His intricate minimal style is laid bare here from the off with 'Aesthetic Solutions' offering up a colourful mix of trippy sound designs and sci-fi moods over slick tech drum programming. 'California Cruise Control' gets deeper, with a more prominent squelchy bassline taking centre stage. 'Underexposure' then ups the ante with a more cosmic and driving techno sound and last of all is 'Areola 51', another one built from silky loops and futuristic synths over crisp tech house beats. Long-cherished underground stalwart Claus Voigtmann finally serves up his long-awaited new album Life Miles after many years of essential sounds on labels like Assemble and Intermission. He really shows his range here with a record that draws on his experiences of playing around the world in all sorts of different settings. 'Pinfire' and 'Transitory Moments' open up and take you to the heart of fabric, a club he has played so often, while 'North of the Sun' heads off into space on sleek electro rhythms while the likes of 'Abundance' bring cosmic melodic fun to a lively and inventive rhythm. Elsewhere there is the high-speed electro-funk of 'Flight Of Fancy' and the introspective downbeat trip 'Send Love To The Future' making this a varied and vital affair. More

Claus Voigtmann makes his vinyl debut on Lisbon’s Assemble Music, applying the same high standards to his productions as he does to the Toi Toi parties he co-organises in London. In fact, you can imagine ‘Spin’ greeting you on arrival in a moodily-lit Shoreditch basement, its growling interplay of bass and kick drum instantly familiar and pleasurable. The plunging bass and pinpoint kicks of ‘Junago’ bring to mind the refined soundspaces of Peter Ford or ‘The Au Harem’-era Villalobos. It’s the kind of track that comes into its own the later the night gets, and just as the elements interlock then writhe apart from each other you can imagine the dance floor doing the same. On remix duties, Ion Ludwig applies the attention to detail we’ve long learned to expect from him, though here he’s manufactured a leaner, meaner beast than his recent releases on UGold and Trelik – four to the floor, with skittering high hats over round, menacing bass. The stripped-down elements swirl in and out of phrase to create a very modern style of techno that you can easily imagine catching the eye of DJs from all over the spectrum. With Voigtmann’s debut, Assemble Music’s roster of new and established artists continues to grow in depth and quality.

Undefined #12 comes from the hand of Dan Piu. Since 1992, Dan has been keeping it versatile by blending different styles of music throughout his career. We are very happy to welcome him to the Undefined family.

His 'Fantasy Juxtaposition' EP resembles exactly what Undefined stands for; versatile and timeless.

On the A side we have a straight up DJ track with a certain techno and bleep flava combined with deep luscious vocals. Aa. gives us an old nu groove kinda beat with naughty 80ies jazz and old school bleepy acid house.

The B side starts with a real old recorded 90ies track, one of Dan's first tracks ever made. A dull love romance evolves from a harmony of batteling synthesizers layered on a break beat groove and fueled with a portion of soul. A mindbending trip. The Bb rounds it off! A track that Dan created back in 1998 together with his friend Gary Rich, Take a walk to a mysterious forest with this uplifting vibe.
