Armagnac started in 2010 a label in metz all naked records & throwing up parties with his Fensch Groove Consortium (FGC) crew. After few years, he decided to move to paris france where between his writing for some famous french magazines & sites, he produced some marvellous tracks that keep the bobby konders spirit alive. This is spiritual deep house full of mystery and fuzzy textures that puts most 'deep' house to shame. ESSENTIAL ! SKYLAX RECORDS 4 EVER

Armagnac - No Title
Skylax Armagnac's darling who released his first EP just a year ago, which had an international resonance with rave reviews from Resident Advisor, Bicep, Chaos in the CBD, Peach or even soul clap. Rightly some saw it as a resurgence, a modernized version of 90s New York house, silky and elegant in the Bobby Konders, Mr Fingers way. For this new EP, with fantastic remixes of the brilliant Simoncino, our French prodigy is inspired by the beginnings of trance on the title song (and title of the ep by the way) "The world as we know it (masterclass mix)", UK dub and rave influences, as on some Nu Groove releases (notably the first joey beltram) - the lead vocal sample comes from a speech in which Noam Chomsky describes the United States as a violent country and hard. According to the author "If this piece says something, I believe it is that the music and the party should not serve to forget the problems of the world, but rather to find the strength, the resources, the inspiration to solve them." On "Oh La Musique" Armagnac used the sound of his neighbors as a voice sample ! Indeed, during this incredibly complicated period that we are living in, confinement due to the devastating effects of covid 19, one of his neighbors played music really loudly and for 20 minutes ignored the other neighbors who were screaming "oh oh, the music" through the window. "Turning this moment of irritation into a sample to the glory of the music strikes me as pretty funny." Still according to the author. On B1, it’s a house masterclass lesson by the phenomenal & ultra prolific Simoncino, but do i need to remind you how much italians are masters in their way of paying homage to all the best house music that has ever been created & produced ? Good taste is often on their side ! The red zone club is a tense and incredibly effective mix that can be enjoyed either on a house or techno dancefloor, it is clearly a banger. B2 saw the italian master offers us a beautiful ambient mix. And to conclude "On My Own" is according to Armagnac "a title that speaks of the trust that one can place in one's fellow human beings and of emancipation." A superb EP that adds to the long list of must-haves from Skylax Records.

Garage Shelter aka Signal ST is a french producer who did mainly tracks for skylax under the name Garage Shelter that has been praised by BEN UFO, MOVE D or MAD REY (D.ko). He signed also some eps on Midi – deux & House puff (DJ Steaw). He's also behing the Bleu Blanc House project (with hardrock striker label's head honcho). We've been following him for years now, the result is obvious : another storming disco house classic. Bangers ! SKYLAX RECORDS 4 EVER

Steve Frisco, of Serie Limitee fame, brings us the latest bundle of hot tracks to hit Wax Classic in 2014. As the title suggests, Steve takes us on a journey through low fidelity sounds and production techniques. Think dark, moody, yet crunchy basement house tracks with inspiration taken from all over the U.S and the rest of the house world. It’s a generous offering as well. Six whole dusty tunes for those diggers who are looking for something with a bit more range than another record of generic piano laden, house-by-numbers pieces that still seem to be flooding the record store shelves in 2014. The moods do vary from track to track, but they remain very reflective and almost melancholic at points. The title track, ‘Adventure in Lo-Fi’, is the deepest of the lot with filtered chords, echoing claps and a sporadic kick pattern that often clears way for the track’s bass hits. Now, compare that to ‘Da Brooklyn Beat’. Whilst the former had a distinct sunrise/sunset kind of feel to it, the latter is definitely more of a club affair. Skippy snare hits and a strong organ lead the track on, and at the risk of utilizing very overused buzzwords such as ‘raw’ and ‘ruff’, this track, and the rest of the A-side for that matter, certainly captures that essence.Stalwart Wax Classic fans will no doubt be picking this one up to add to their collection. However, I strongly recommend this EP as a jumping in point to the label for any newcomers out there

Wax Classic shows no sign of stopping in 2014! We return with a brilliant selection of cuts from the very talented Skylax newcomer, Groove Riddim. Living in Belgium and originally hailing from Greece, you wouldn’t usually expect these authentic NY house sounds to have come from that part of the world, but the spirit is there. If you still have any doubts at this point, dispel them in knowing that none other than the NY house hero, Nathaniel X Project, has branded the EP with his seal of approval and even features on the opening track, ‘The Difference’, with Groove Riddim. The message of the track is brought across through Nate’s vocals. That it should be all about the music and the feeling that it brings rather than how or when it was made, an outlook which can often be lost in the music scene today due to snobbery and elitism. ‘Love So Strong’ may end up being one of the standout tracks of this release for lots of house lovers. It builds up a garagey beat piece by piece and reels you in with sustained piano chords before flipping them on their head for some main-room, peak time stabby action. Rounding out the first side is ‘City of Dreams’, a bouncier affair with feel-good strings and keys throughout. To start the B-side, Groove Riddim collaborates with fellow producer, Metta, on ‘Kleurenreis’. It’s a real stomper that fully displays Groove Riddim’s attention to detail when it comes to percussion, chords and vocal snips. The synth they’ve chosen to use even has a bit of a cosmic feel to it, something slightly otherworldly. ‘Close Your Eyes’ and ‘House Will Never Die’ finish off the record, hitting home the theme that to Groove Riddim, it doesn’t matter how or when the music was made. All that matters is that the house feeling is there.

Wax Classic is back! The twelfth release on the label sees the mysterious newcomer(s) Garage Shelter seize the reins, taking us on a trip to familiar and equally unfamiliar territory. Who is Garage Shelter? How do they capture the moods they do so well? Where can they go next? These questions are not important. Garage Shelter should be an idea, something personal, drawing from your own feelings and experiences. Once you finish listening to these tracks, you will want to jump right back in and pick up on what you missed the first time around. When the record begins, you will be hit with an almost overwhelming sense of atmosphere. The midnight jazz and blues club vibe is captured supremely and brought to the forefront on “Moanin’ (Tribute Edit)”, as Garage Shelter show off with a short and sweet sax solo before slipping it into a loop and pairing it with the deepest of chords this side of Detroit. Crisp drum patterns and a chugging bassline drive the track to its climax before blending into the opening keys on “Political Content (Full Contact Mix)”. These first two A-side tracks are early evening affairs, definitely akin to one another, laden with jazzy saxophones and vocal cuts, grunts and cheers. With “Step In The Raw”, we leave the comfort of the smoky jazz retreat that came before and enter a housier club environment. The production on this track puts a raw slant on the progression of the record, as the name would suggest. Soulful vocals contrast with deep sub frequencies whilst reverbed string samples sit perpetually in between.

For our 11th release, we give you the opportunity to grab 4 fantastic trax done by one of the best deep house producers in France right now : CONCEPT e25.French producer Frederic Boeuf had a passion for electronic music that was ignited in the early 90's when he discovered labels such as F Communications and FNAC. Since then he has continually been developing his sound and exploring new and diverse ways of making music “with a burning proclivity for making good ol’ fashioned grooves - but not without a chic, modern twist” as noticed by Pulse Radio.net.Coming after “Garage Sessions l”; ”Garage Sessions II” is his new EP and is released by WAX Classics - a sub-label of the famous SKYLAX Records. “Garage Sessions II” continues his journey into the 90’s Underground House world, with 4 tracks featuring funky basslines, classic vintage analog synths chords and stabbs, soulful vocals and groovy drum beats

For our 6th release, we give you the opportunity to grab 4 fantastic trax done by a hot brand new pair of producers : EMOTION II EMOTION Emotion II Emotion is Portland duo Avalon Kalin (Finesse) and Rafael Fauria (Miracles Club) that blend Garage & Deep House live with gritty samples, FM synthesis, analog hardware, swing and passion. Looking back to the golden age of House Music and pushing it forward as a live art form. Inspired by the best of the 90’s club sounds, they deliver here their first EP full of DEEP HOUSE KILLERS. Entitled “EIIE I”, it kicks off with the intense “Feels good” taking things into classic mid 90’s new york territory, straight into a garage sounding bassline, looped vocal intro. We can clearly hear the sound of the E-mu Sp1200 & mpc 60 ! In the same vein on A2, we got the epic “I can’t hep myself” On the flip side, with “I need you”, they’re creating an all-enveloping atmosphere that combined the futuristic groove of the late 80’s detroit scene packed up with some R&B vocal energy. It’s a devastating catchy track full of detuned organs & chopped up vocals as if you get the dub of an original track that finally never existed, maybe only in the creators’ mind ! And to end, “Work” is the sort of feel good house music we used to hear in the early 90’s courtesy of Mr Kerri Chandler, Mood II Swing & M.A.W. Swinging beats, a sax & a disco bass : Come on & dance ! Such an EP just demonstrate how on top of their game SKYLAX / WAX CLASSIC is right now - big tip!

For this first release, we give you the opportunity to grab 4 fantastic trax done by legendary detroit producer : JASON GROVE. Born in Detroit, he started his career in the late 80’s, dj-ing in underground parties when the techno house movement was just at the beginning. He was invited few times on detroit local stations such as WDRQ & WJLB to play. Some said he was at that time very close to the “Wizard”, helping producing their first tracks with anthony srock as Final Cut. He had many opportunities during the 90’s to release some of his work on various prestigious labels, however, as the guy is really hardcore & straight edge, he prefered to continue producing only with analog gears (don’t ever speak to him about a computer or he’ll get mad !) & record his work on cassette only, selling it to indie stores & giving it to friends for some special events (birthday, graduation ect ... !). We heard this story long times ago & it was only when we were in L.A. last year at pooh-bah record shop that we finally managed to get our hands on one of those tapes (one from june 1991 & the other one done in october 1992) with some of the best & incredible music we’ve heard in years, it sounded like kerri chandler BEFORE kerri chandler did even start to release any tracks ! Those first tapes are finally available after a hiatus of more than 15 years on VYNIL ONLY (!).
