Hans Berg's Sounds of the Forest Forgotten affirms that music can bring us to a state of mind and body that can help us feel what we've forgotten from the forest. The overlaying project of the album is to conjure musical and conceptual resonances between mysticism and nature, summoning the incredible depth and force of nature that we usually miss, especially living in contemporary urban cities. Sounds of the Forest Forgotten channels the creativity, playfulness, and freedom of a life both before and beyond ours through the sounds of analog and digital synthesizers, a modular system, drum machines, and computers. Recorded between Hans's studios in Berlin and on the Swedish countryside, the album similarly shuttles between contemplative and ecstatic, between delicate and powerful, mixing sublime psychedelic techno compositions like "Emerald Sea" with acidic dance-floor bangers like "Storm" and "Milk Thistle," all nestled between contemplative and textural ambient compositions like "Butterfly" and "Glow Worm." Berg is known for his enthralling productions and energetic livesets that capture dance floors with his particular brand of hypnotic techno, replete with angular lines, affecting melodies, pulsating basslines, and big drums. He also produces atmospheric scores and ambient soundscapes to accompany the video art and installations of long-term collaborator and celebrated artist Nathalie Djurberg. Berg's live sets have found a home in nightclubs around the world, with recent gigs in Berlin, Stockholm, New York, Tokyo, and Melbourne, to name a few. In addition to 2MR, he has released his solo work on record labels including Ian Pooley's imprint Montage, Klasse Recordings, and The Vinyl Factory. His ongoing collaboration with fellow Swede Johanna Knutsson - as Knutsson/Berg - has led them to start the label UFO Station Recordings, on which they release their own material. The duo also has released on labels such as Idle Hands, Default Position, Kann, and Random Island.

Hans Berg - A Floor Of Stars (Luca Lozano "What's Behind A Black Hole" Remix)
Swedish born, London based producer Hans Berg provides the title track 'A Floor of Stars' for a brand new white label from Klasse Wrecks. Starry-eyed rave nostalgia for the 2020s, produced and presented without a cheapshot gimmick in sight. Luca Lozano provides a startling interpretation on the flip, increasing the breakbeat pressure slightly and taking a left turn into the hoover-vortex continuum. Its a space race journey of sorts, with the producer adorning the track with more rave decoration and climactic piano flourishes. This item is vinyl only and limited to 500 copies.

Shortinfo:
Swedish producer Hans Berg returns to Pooledmusic's techno-focused sister imprint Montage with another collection of uniquely esoteric techno. Known for previous work on Kant and collaborations with Johanna Knutsson, Berg debuted on the label in 2015 with the Field EP. His second outing once again provides another showcase for his intriguing rhythmic sensibilities and pleasingly askew take on the classic techno sound palette. The EP is completed by another heads-down burner of a remix from Silvershower, aka label boss Ian Pooley.

Info:
Ian Pooley's his new techno label Montage follows up the inaugural release from his Silvershower alias by handing a label debut to Hans Berg, the Swedish producer with previous releases for Kant and known for collaborations with Johanna Knutsson. For his first Montage outing Berg delivers two original tracks showing both sides of his production talent. A-side 'Field' employs an elastic bassline that recalls some of the more dancefloor-focused workings of UK producers such as Four Tet and Joy Orbison, while 'Polar' sees the Swede head in a more stargazing direction, its trance-like melodies cloaking a sturdy backbone. Pooley's Silvershower alias rounds out the 12" with a darker take on the A cut, pinning the original's bassline to its heavy kick, ride and claps for a powerful techno roller. More

The consistently on-point Fullbarr imprint returns with another outstanding release this September in the form of ‘Machines’ by Hans Berg, backed with remixes from Ed Davenport and Immer. Fullbarr have already seen releases and remixes from the likes of Area, LoSoul, Luke Solomon, Huxley and Youandewan. Now Swedish born, Berlin-based Hans Berg, delivers classy techno that fits perfectly amongst the back-catalogue. Berg has been developing his sharp and distinctive works for over a decade now and is currently collaborating with Swedish video artist Nathalie Djurberg, designing soundscapes for her highly praised art installation, showing Berg’s ability to push further afield from straight electronic productions. Trippy techno cut, ‘Machines’, opens the release in style, with wavy synth shots that percolate throughout, constantly shifting key and warbling in pitch to create a wild flare of dynamism. Background flourishing stereo delays on the percussive elements further fuel its infectious shuffle while saw tooth stabs are worked in, in a vociferous fashion complimenting the tracks intensity. Off the back of his critically acclaimed ‘Counterchange’ LP on NRK, Ed Davenport steps in to rework ‘Machines’, applying a more stripped-back, hooky approach. Veering away from the undulating motion found in the original, Ed opts for sturdy drum programming and subtly evolving atmospherics to create a peak-time steady bloomer. Next up is ‘Space Arp’ which again carries an up-front feel to instantly nurture your attention. The gritty electronic arp-line steadily evolves from the word go, subtly opening the filter to reveal a crunchy melodic component that will lead the way for its near eight minutes. Berg employs exquisite detail to his drum sequence, fastidiously altering the elements, retracting and adding elements every 16 bars to maintain captivation for the listener. Eindhoven born, Immer, also delivers a dismantled dub-techno remix of ‘Machines’. Sparse elements run alongside broken-beat drums, emanating a different musical scope entirely. Immer’s ability to create depth and character with an absence of busy elements is beautifully personifies through this work. Heavily reverbed synth chords and piano stabs run throughout adding a cavernous, dark edge to the original number, this is a truly unique twist and a signification of how remixes can capture the essence of its predecessor while creating something fresh entirely.

Release Info:
Today, beloved DJ, producer and songwriter Lauren Flax announces her forthcoming EP, Out Of Reality out August 6 via 2MR. Much of Out Of Reality’s cohesion comes from Flax’s expansive production, using simple elements to craft intricate backdrops for the questions posed by her songs. On the EP’s titular track, Alejandra Deheza (School of Seven Bells)’s crystalline vocals are woven against a delicate tapestry of arpeggiated keys, sparse percussion and haunting cello. Watch “Out of Reality” here.
Detachment isn’t always detrimental; sometimes you have to step outside to get a better view. Lauren Flax knows this - as a DJ, producer and songwriter, her discography is notoriously genre-defiant, consisting of an impressive array of solo tracks, collaborations, and remixes. The most recent of these – her mesmerizing take on Pale Blue’s “Breathe” - saw her experimenting with a new style of writing. “I wanted to explore that sound more,” Flax explains, “more of a synth exploration, textures with less beats.” The pared-down songwriting approach lent itself to thematic considerations as well: she’d been thinking about the repetitive nature of the life cycle - the Indian concept of Samsara - and felt a general disappointment at humanity’s lack of progress. On her new EP Out Of Reality, she washes that disappointment in lush sonic hues, stepping outside the quotidien for a new perspective.
Though its themes span beyond the scope of our current socio-political moment, Out Of Reality feels, right now, like an especially tantalizing proposition. Pandemic-driven escapism has bred a new crop of otherworldly music designed to transport the listener somewhere better. But Flax isn’t interested in escapism for its own sake - there’s still work to be done here on Earth, after all. Instead, through a combination of live instrumentation and ethereal synths, Out Of Reality grants us a respite from the real so we can return to it with a clear head.

Solipsism is an archival release of music from Mike Simonetti's tenure as owner of Italians Do It Better Records, spanning from 2006-2013. During that time Mike wrote a lot of music. Some of it was used for films, some for TV commercials, some for fashion shows and he even released a record or two. Influenced by the intersection of 80's arena rock bands like AC/DC and Judas Priest, glam rock/dance bands like Rockets and Supermax, and especially the underground Italian producer Piero Umiliani - the album is chock-full of atmospheric rock-inspired arpeggiated riffs. The mixture of metal and chugging dance music makes for a unique listening experience. Every song has a riff, every song is heavy and dense. Only one song goes above 118 BPM. These are heavy chuggers that make for a tense emotional experience that exceeds your standard, easy-to-write-off "soundtrack" fare, mainly because it was never written with that in mind. It was meant to be a fist-pumping arena rock inspired thumper! You can hear that in the one two punch of "A Prayer For War" into "Illusions", which is an outtake from his "The Magician" sessions. Other songs like "Solipsism" showcase the airy melodies of that were to come with his other project Pale Blue, but that is not typical on this album. If you listen closely, you can hear how Simonetti's music and dark vibes inspired his then label partner Johnny Jewel to take his own bands Chromatics and Glass Candy in a different, more cinematic direction. This was written and recorded years before the Drive soundtrack and all the hoopla around the sudden soundtrack resurgence. In 2011 Mike was asked to submit some songs for a soon to be released Hollywood remake. He submitted most of the songs from this album, and they were slated for release on the soundtrack, but the project fell apart, and the film went in a different direction and changed producers. Soon after, because of all the drama and foolishness, he left Italians Do It Better to start over with 2MR and Pale Blue. This is the nail in the coffin. Godspeed.

B1. Where Is The Voice Of That Man On Acid (Jackie House Remix)
Press Release:
Hot on the heels of their recent EPs on Roam, Correspondant and Futureboogie, Zombies In Miami maintain the disco heat with their debut on Mike Simonetti's 2MR. Three tracks and one remix deep, the entire release is a full trip to the senses…
'Take It Off' leads by example: strident, uplifting and dynamically arranged so a whole new level of feels is unleashed when you least expect it, there's a real timeless energy and focus coded deep into every element. 'New Odisea' takes more of a cosmic approach with its slinking bassline and soaring, yearning chords that weave and wave above it. Buckle up; even the slightest variations and percussive additions are so well placed, they create an almighty rush every single time. Finally 'Where Is The Voice Of That Man On Acid' attempts to ask the question we've all been asking for years. Fittingly psychedelic, layered and circuitous, its springy riff persistently tickling under waves of evocative atmospheres and it comes complete with a sublime, sub-loaded rolling technoid trip-fest from Honey Soundsystem's Jackie House.
The duo describe the EP as "the result of hours of jamming, trying to imagine and recreate the loudest, most energetic and sweaty dancefloor tracks that we could play in Mexico, Europe and all over the world no matter the borders." We'd describe that as mission accomplished.

Acclaimed Italian pair Deardrums, aka Bottin and Leo di Angilla, proudly present their adventurous debut album on 2MR. The 13 track LP is a continuation of their analogue heavy and inventive synth style as showcased on their EP’s to date which have received support from the likes of Laurent Garnier & Chloe and covers plenty of musical ground with great aplomb. African influences, tin pot percussion and scorched synths all bring a real sense of savannah heat to proceedings on cuts like ‘Mami Wata’ and there is a sense of tribalism in the tightly programmed drums and claps of ‘Mayan Machine’ that really stands this one apart. Authentic and unique throughout, this is a brilliant LP that is hard to categorise but easy to love thanks to its constant evolution and wide sphere of sonic influences.
