Delfonic discovered during a warehouse dig a mysterious release from 2013 by an unknown German artist, filled with moody tracks without breaks in between,which were made in 2008. After searching for months who was behind, OYE Black is proud to announce the unknown artist Martin Georgi with 2 MPC bangers from that release cut out, along with a DJ friendly edit by Delfonic. Nomada Records has shown several times that they have a good sense for fresh talents. This time the label spotted the sample-based producer Martin Georgi (quietelegance, OYE Black, Seismographic Records).
He has already popped up in the deep house scene a few years ago, as Delfonic kissed the artist from his slumber by releasing tracks of him which originally were produced on vinyl back in 2008. So, no wonder that on the flipside of the new release, a contribution by Delfonic can be found. It is a live session, originally penned by Georgi and pursuing the idea of bizarre mash-up. In addition, on the B-side you will find another interesting name which can be interpreted as an “alias” of Martin Georgi himself.
The A-side acts as an EP called “Green Motor Damage”. Here, Georgi was inspired by the rising civic movement from Detroit. While the car industry had abandoned D-Town, they left behind not only a high unemployment rate, but also unused industrial wasteland. Some of those very large areas are used now by a citizens’ initiative for vegetable gardens, bringing in a benefit for the citizens involved. Georgi was so fascinated by this initiative that he sampled and connected interview excerpts from the project, in strong contrast to interview snippets from different documentaries, which focuse on Detroit's suffering from poverty and unemployment. This is how the track “Green Motor Damage” was created. As a musical reinforcement keyboardist and synth lover George John (Kommerz, Gettogether, BlaqNumbers) got to the keys, giving the track a soulful funky touch. Another track on the EP’s A-Side is called “Summer Kisses”, which “romanticizes” the dystopian aura of the city Detroit with idiosyncratic monotony. Here Georgi adapted the idea of film director Jim Jarmusch who pursued a similar project in his film “Only Lovers Left Alive”.
The third track is called “Waiting for a call” with a slight wink for the dance floor, but also an ironic statement on the exploitation of employees by outsourcing jobs to call center companies.
Undoubtedly Martin Georgi stands for a unique way of approaching musical productions. On the one hand through the dusty, persistent technique of sampling, on the other hand he is not guided by current trends, but much more by his reflections on social and ecological issues. One who ensures that the current dance floor continues to feel the skillful era of “intelligent sample-based house music”!

Finally I got myself together and decided to re-record the dream of creating music, so the final result in 2018 was my EP "9 TO 5 IS KILLING ME" The title should make people realize how you feel as an artist when you stray from the creative path and get lost in a daily job.
The selection of the samples also played an important role, they should give strength to those who have lost the power to resist and healing creativity. No matter what kind of injustice has happened to them. Because the source of the samples had in its original form a kindred goal, the music should give courage and strength to a certain social group, a musical sanctuary that I tried to adapt energetically."

Martin Georgi is not a newcomer. He is more like one of those who like to stay under the radar. The sample-based music producer made his debut in the deephouse sector on his own more than 10 years ago, completely without a label or distribution. In 2016, the Berlin record label OYE Records became aware of the hitherto unknown artist and finally re-released the tracks from his debut. Since then, his early tracks have been compared around the world with the early works of Moodyman or Theo Parrish.
After more than 10 years and the maxi “9 to 5 is killing me” (2018), a second album is finally released on the underground label quietelegance records. Stylistically it ties in with the first work. “Money from the trunk” is the title of the new album and it includes socially critical issues such as class differences that are created by capital. Georgi plays with a large portion of irony and of course plenty of samples, which the passionate record digger skillfully processed into eight new songs.
Georgi not only stands out from the conforming deep-house crowd with his raw, unconventional production style, but also ensures that old-school sampling continues to have its place in current club music. In doing so, he reacts to global music trends, which he incorporates into his tracks through the finest sample operations. So it is not surprising that his new album “Money from the trunk” has a rap song as title song, for which the renown artistic-activist rap duo Fokn Bois from Ghana is jointly responsible. Also on the list of prominent guests are Felipe Gordon from Colombia and Delfonic from Berlin as well as Cornelia Lund from fluctuating images.
