Telfort makes a return with a fifth stellar EP via TLFT, comprising three potent and sophisticated deep house cuts.

‘Phantasmata’ provides that wholesome rhodes deepness of Telfort’s, placing itself firmly in the middle of the floor with its driving grooves and tight bass stabbery, while it’s sprinkled with elegantly phrased euphoric plucks, unfolding into earworm territory.

On the flip, the machine-heavy ‘Instruction Through Metaphor’ elevates you into the stratosphere with its astral textures and discordant rhythmic slap. Classy as ever, deft dusty sample cutting and alluring melodic warmth radiates for the journey.

Title track ‘Basic Trajectory’ pulls no punches and closes out the EP with a reduced and self-assured sound. It’s a fast-acting dose of stomping house that evolves into a blissful and uplifting trip—a restorative place you will want to return to enough times that you might consider it a classic in time.

Telfort makes a hugely welcome return after the success-and-repress of his self-released debut, the aptly titled ‘In A Good Place’ and appearance on the slick Lionoil Industries imprint. The Edinburgh-based powerhouse makes a strong impression once again with a further hand-stamped, limited pressing of two stellar cuts. The tense emotional drive of ‘Lickety Split’—where deep, colourful chords float and fold sublimely over a stomping club-ready foundation and penetrating bassline—conjures up images of a transcendent moment to be shared with friends and strangers be it at Robert Johnson, Corsica Studios, or an imagined open-air setting heavy on sunlight beaming through trees. On the flip we hear the dusty and melodic warmth of ’Snaps’ exhibit Telfort's uncanny knack of crafting tough-yet-delicate grooves that mesmerise and enchant us. Garnering notable support from the likes of Hunee, Axel Boman, Smallpeople, Bicep, Moxie, Krysko, Matt Karmil, Dan Beaumont, Fudge Fingas, Rroxymore and many more, the hotly tipped Telfort continues to carve out his own niche in house music with his inimitable mix of subtle rhythmic wisdom and guile.

Telfort kicks off with a limited white label release showcasing two sublime cuts with a unique signature sound and undeniable character. From the colourful and ethereal ‘In A Good Place’, with its fluttering and morphing flutes breezing against an ever-present warm thudding kick, to the club-ready percussive stomper that is ‘The Weather Up There’, Telfort quietly but firmly makes an entrance into the club with this release and etches out his own place as a producer to watch the every move of. Edinburgh’s Lionoil Industries welcomes masterful producer Tom VR into the pride. Following his highly acclaimed appearance on Midland’s Intergraded imprint, he presents a truly stunning emotional rollercoaster of dubby, tasteful techno and deep, melancholic house, set to enthrall on and off the dancefloor.
“Snare Dream” jubilantly launches the EP - cycling synth lines soar around decisive driving snares, balanced by a bubbly bass rhythm before climaxing with euphoric vocal stabs. “Norwood” ups the dub, notching down the energy to dig into the real meat of this record; an understated journey through dubbed out textures, evidencing Tom’s expert restraint and enticing you with the track’s infectious groove.
Flip the record for the title track “Packard Sawmill Echoes” - a melancholic club cut that will ensure tears on the dancefloor. No half measures here as the track continues to build beautifully over 7 minutes. Humbly presented, tasteful dub techno, and a real secret weapon for the DJs which rewards revisiting. The final track “I Don’t Know Where You Lead” begins a tuff dubby dancefloor cut turned unexpectedly melancholy orchestral number, with yearning strings fit to drop jaws in awe and a state of self-transcendence.

With a recent sell-out self-release from Telfort and a highly anticipated debut from Hi and Saberhägen on Huntleys + Palmers, the cast of this debut 12” sampler is as strong as Plutonian steel! Newcomer Philip Budny begins our journey with a crystalline aural interpretation of the waterfalls of Bali, ahead of Hi and Sabes' rhythmic raga. On the flipside is a meditative offering from Telfort, reminiscent of a smoky hangover after a rave in the dungeons of Kinshasa, before chief commanding officer Percy Main’s finale zooms 50 years into Sheffield’s funktopian future with a bumpy dancefloor robo-killer. We reside in the heavenly land of Caledonia and wish to share these experiences with the world around us and the planets beyond.
