Alex Celler - "Ancient Astronauts"
2
Alex Celler - "Stargate To Cosmos"
3
Alex Celler - "Object In The Sky"
Three distinctly outer space-themed cuts from Greece's Alex Celler, each with a linear minimal/tech skeleton that has other, interloping musical influences draped elegantly and classily across it. 'Ancient Astronuats' has the weird, wired mystical stirrings of early Black Dog about it, complete with melting, bendy electro notations that coax it along and add a psychedelic dimension. 'Stargate To Cosmos' has a playful, Drexciyan feel to it, with crunchy, organic drum beats flirting alongside the more rigid electrics. 'Object In The Sky' is the most minimal of the pack, sleek and stalker-like, but still contains enough action - mainly floating around up there in the ether - to hold and build attention.

Consistent in his output since 2006, London-based Alex Celler has carved a reputation recording on highly esteemed imprints such as Tuning Spork, Contexterrior, Broquade and All Inn to name a few. Now he turns up the heat for an impressive two-track debut on Trelik. The A-Side "Haz" kicks off with tight, dry drums moving emotively with warm bubbling bass, subtle house stabs and soothing, mysterious vocals. Drops and licks of percussion build and fall over the 9:19 duration with the aid of cleverly scattered piano keys this forward thinking arrangement stands-out perfectly. "Pacificon" on the B-side strips things back to the bare-essentials, a highly playable cut that takes on a more techno-orientated approach featuring persistent bass and metallic vocals creating a deadly effective backdrop of space and tension. alex celler - "Erinyes"
"Concealed Sounds warmly welcomes Alex Celler. The super talented Greek producer, based in London since years, need no introduction. After his recent stunning "Kammsa EP" on Jay Haze's newly relaunched Contexterrior Tuning Spork label, he is on better form then ever. For his Concealed debut he delivers two strong hypnotic and dark tracks. Swirling in clever rhythmical programming and melodic undertones, these tracks will take you into another sonic dimension. On the A side "Polhammer" is the more uplifting one while the B side's "Erinyes" offers a slightly more dark and atmospheric touch. And as always keep your eyes open for the hidden gem on this 12" …. Tracklist 12": A Kammsa 10:55min B Plex Astunde 12:33min
INFO:
Contexterrior & Tuning Spork were launched in the early 2000's by Jay Haze and soon became critically acclaimed & influential, establishing - along with Perlon - the new school minimal house & techno sounds of the 00's. As Jay moved to Peru in 2010, the labels were temporarily put on hold, but after this short hiatus, he has decided to relaunch both labels into a combined format, which will see them together under the same roof. This hybrid label is launching with catalogue number CNTX/TS 1001 and comes from London based Alex Celler, who has been collaborating with Jay & his labels since 2009. Then, confirmed releases of Signor Andreoni, Michal Ho, Kreon and of course Jay himself will follow later this year and in 2015. On the A side of this EP ''Kammsa'' expands over 11 minutes and is based on a bubbling, funked up bass which mutates slowly and maintains a steady yet driving pace, accompanied with percussion and melodies, slowly escalating into a dynamic groover which quickly takes off.
On the flip side ''Plex Astunde'' comes strong and mysterious, with shuffling rhythms and syncopated syncopated drums, rolling along sub bass tones, forming a chuggy, sleek rhythm which leads to a melodic turn, only to descend again to glitch territory.

Baby Ford - Percy
A repress for four prime slices of classic Baby Ford minimal tech gear, from the rhythm-centric drum machine fest 'Very', the resonant bleepy tones of 'Test', the sparse and spacious 'Down' and the subtle acid undertones of 'Percy'. Baby Ford is finally getting his props as one the UK acid and techno scene's true innovators and pioneers, and these four very mixable tracks are four more reasons why this is only right.

Baby Ford - No Title
Seminal reissue alert! Baby Ford had already been a chart-baiting acid house superstar by the time he launched the PAL SL label in 1996. He'd left behind the major label scene and moved firmly back into the underground with exploratory techno releases on Ifach and collaborations with Mark Broom. This new label marked a shift for Ford though, setting him up for the trips into minimalist club tracks that have been his bread and butter for decades now. From the machine soul trysts of "Slow Hand" to the woozy techno thrust of "Tall For His Height" and the atmospheric house wriggle of "Kez", this release is a classic through and through. Beat the sharks and nab a copy of this long out-of-print gem.

dimbiman - No Title
In the field of minimal house reissues, this is a big deal. Perlon main man Dimbiman doesn't appear on wax often, but when he does he makes it count. This early release on Baby Ford's seminal Pal SL was originally out in 1998, when minimal house was a vague concept at best on the most outer reaches of dance music. "Iso Grifo" itself remains a masterclass of spine-chilling space and perfectly strange sonic matter, while "Lava" pushes the notion of reduction dance music to its absolute limit. "Round" is an even more immersive affair that hides many subtle layers within its seemingly simple construct. Quite simply groundbreaking stuff, and highly sought after so don't sleep on it.

Desert Sky debuts for London's PAL SL. Having previously stepped up for Assemble Music and Giegling he lays down two unique studies in unhurried rhythmatics, space and depth. "Be Part Of" sets the mood with layers of living, seemingly breathing atmospherics eventually channeled into a bouncing kick with shuffling percussion and echoes of distant worlds. "Lets Stay" picks up the tempo with a sharper groove featuring persistent voices building tension and mystery as the track rolls on. Long, playable cuts for adventurous DJ's - Not to be missed. "

Following on from his 2010 "Dickens Tracks" EP for London's PAL SL, OCH drops the eagerly awaited 2nd edition to the series. As a producer his sound stands out through fusing stripped-back, jackin' drums with sharp, swinging hats always adding an injection of analog warmth through sparse, synth arrangements.A A1's "Cross Check" stays true to the labels early roots by using the bare essentials of house music to create a hypnotic, highly effective floor-mover.A On the flip, "Star Of Hope" is an interlude, set-starter or vinyl DJ tool. B2's "The Magic Flute" has a relaxed, sunny chicago feeling teasing with lush samples, driving bass and rock-solid beats. Mastered at D & M.

Pal SL returns with another highly playable yet artist orientated 12" from L.D.Nero (aka Alex Cortex) who returns to the label after a nine year hiatus. His fantastically received Nite Out 12" for sister label Trelik showcased the more subtle depths of his production style whereas "Washback" grabs the bull buy the horns with an infectious analogue bassline, bold upfront percussion patterns alongside Perlon-esque guitars and organic synth washes. "Simple" picks up the pace with a more mathematical soundscape, driving the speakers whilst teasing with intermittent vocals. "Give Credit" completes the package tipping its hat to the early UK acid sound showcasing retro sound design, lo-fi vocals and historic drum loops against a deep synth and bass back-drop. Mastered By Lopazz.
