Sascha Borchardt aka Monoloc is a dystopic atmospheres fanatic that has dedicated his life to the dance floor from an early age. The Frankfurt-born artist’s raw yet sleek take on techno and ambient has evolved to characterise his own musical style in his productions. Monoloc’s sound is a mixture between techno, dub and ambient, nurturing a tone that is driving, groovy and low-slung, but with greater emotional range. He acquires most of his inspiration from old movies and likes to work mostly with field recordings in his productions. ‘The Untold Way’ on Dystopian is his second album, following his first in 2012, and shows a notably matured development in the artist’s style. Sascha explores the distant realms between the pillars of genres, presenting a 12 track album of techno but not as we know it - left field, keeping a foot in ambient, with elements outside of the dancefloor. He brings together the concept of an album written in his own language of atmospheric patterns, melodies and fragments of words and voices. Instead of functional four to the floor tracks he explores the meaning and depths of dark, melancholic music.
The album unfolds into a 12 chapter story of his musical style with many surprises and twists along the way.

The 'Left The Planet' marks his ?rst release on the label, that previously released label honcho Charlotte de Witte’s Chris Liebing collaboration and her “Pressure” and “Selected” EPs. “With KNTXT, we aim to be a boutique label that values purity and strength” de Witte says. “Both characteristics that perfectly describe and de?ne Monoloc’s music.” Aside from being the main output for Charlotte de Witte’s creative endeavors, KNTXT has always aimed to be a breeding ground and safe haven for the unique talent’s that it love and respects. After debuting at a KNTXT event in Fuse back in 2015, Sascha Borchardt a.k.a. Monoloc has been a recurring invitee at the label’s raves. “For KNTXT this is another amazing step in our label story. Feels great to be releasing new music of this dear friend of the family, after spending some great nights together.” Charlotte concludes. “This upcoming release is very personal to me.” Monoloc says “After joining Charlotte de Witte on her events and most recently the sold out KNTXT tour, I can say we’re friends. Monoloc makes his debut on Hotflush recordings, the label’s first release of 2016. Following a recent single on Innervisions and an appearance on Life & Death, his latest offering ‘Another Thing’ marks a departure into more atmospheric soundscapes. The murky grandeur of the title track lends itself to moody textures that build in narrative, walking a knife-edge between industrial techno and minimalist dub. ‘TrySome’ conjures the setting of a dilapidated warehouse rave at 5am, while ‘Makeless’, with its low-slung percussive elements draped over misty pads and imposing bass, draws the listener further into Monoloc’s wormhole.

Short info:
CLR is back with release number 83 and has something very special in store this time. Monoloc's latest effort offers a challenging mixture of various electronic music genres. Apart from the original version and the Monoloc Edit, which occupy the A side of the vinyl, two highly respected producers have contributed remixes to this project, making it an impressive assembly of potential A sides. Monoloc's original version underlines the capacity of the Berlin based producer, to create unorthodox, suspenseful Techno with a very personal handwriting. Once more the beat structure, treatment of vocal bits, the selection of sounds and the overall arrangement and production style make his productions easily recognizable and truly unique. His additional edit surprises with a mesmerizing and enchanting sequence, which could easily become one of those laid back after hour sunrise classics. The two versions alone would make a dignified EP already, but then there are the remixes by Roman Lindau and Rødhåd, which turn this release into one of the most diversified CLR releases ever. While Roman Lindau takes a House oriented direction and excellently works out the potential of the track on the more uplifting side of the musical spectrum, Berghain resident Rødhåd explores the dark side of Monoloc's composition and delivers a haunting Techno version full of well balanced bass, phasing sequences and an irresistible, almost tribal rhythm structure. CLR083 is one of those releases that characterises the direction the label has taken over the last years and is equally interesting to DJs from all kinds of stylistic branches of the scene. It´s available on vinyl as well as digitally and will surely grace countless record bags and playlists all over the world.

CLR is back with an exiting EP by one of the label´s most popular artists. For more than a decade, Monoloc has been honing his skills in the studio and has at all times been a faithful ambassador for the complete abolition of genre-boundaries. His productions include influences from numerous styles, always staying true to his ingrained and ever-present musical roots. The result of his ongoing journey into fascinating sonic spheres is a very personal blend of deep, soulful and groovy Techno. His imaginative way of beat-and sound-programming, as well as the ability to create dynamic and sometimes surprising arrangements, are qualities he shares with the Swedish duo SKUDGE who took on the duty to remix this outstanding track. Their unique remix does not only express their well-known tasteful approach, but also their unpredictability and stylistic independence. Apart from this excellent remix and the original album version, the EP also includes a brand-new version by the man himself. While the mind-bending sound of his debut album "DRIFT" works for all kinds of occasions, the MONOLOC EDIT of TRY almost demands to be played out loud on massive club speakers. But even in his more dance-floor oriented productions, there is always a comforting warmth about Monoloc's sound, which makes this restless dj/producer so special and intriguing. If you have an open mind and you are into challenging electronic music, you should really pay attention to this release!

Born and raised in the heart of the blooming Techno metropolis Frankfurt am Main, Monoloc is not an unknown face in the international electronic music scene anymore. Numerous releases on respected labels as well as countless of his characteristic dj sets have gained the far and wide travelled artist many faithful friends. His multilayered productions, which have been continuously evolving and opening up to new influences, never fail to stay true to his strong Techno roots. After years of exploring and fiddling about the sound he heard in his head since his very humble beginnings as a producer, he has now reached a point where he can finally manifest his musical vision in its wholeness. What we have in our hands, is the result of one and a half years of restless studio work and it is a big pleasure for us to announce the release of Monoloc´s debut album "Drift" on the 2nd of November 2012 on CLR. During the production of the album Monoloc has been trying new ways, incorporating new styles, and sometimes just went with the flow without any plan or clearly defined goal. He so to speak "drifted" away a little bit from his usual work ethics, which resulted in a quite eclectic and highly entertaining album concept. Regarding the overall sound, Monoloc sticks to his origins and moves skillfully through sonic environments consisting of deep basses, noise, dark beats and quotes from all kinds of musical genres. Studio neighbor and label-head Chris Liebing took an active part in the mix-down of the album, so that the tracks also had to pass the test of his critical ears. Just as usual, Brian Sanhaji, another studio neighbor and long-term CLR artist took care of the mastering of the tracks and polished them to their full splendor. The result can be enjoyed as much in the club as at home."Drift" is a musically sophisticated, slow and in spite of all the love for details pleasantly dirty Techno album. The occasional vocal tracks grant this long-player an atmospherically rich and diversified flow. Together with singer / songwriter Daniel Wild, three songs have been crafted for this purpose, adding a deep and soulful dimension. Each one of the ten tracks works independently on its own, but it is the thoughtful combination that makes this album appear as more than merely the sum of its individual parts. Everybody at CLR is very happy about the outcome of this in-house production and we can only recommend you to pay attention to this great album.

Monoloc, - Shame
Just as we would have expected it from a restless sound scientist like Monoloc, the first single announcing his upcoming debut album on CLR is another proof of his constant evolution. Since the release of his first record in 2001, this versatile and inspiring electronic musician has been honing his production skills and has released music on numerous renowned labels. CLR061 and the upcoming album are results and vivid expressions of his remarkable development as a producer. None other than Chris Liebing assisted during the mix-down of the new tracks and studio neighbor Brian Sanhaji took good care of the mastering. The outcome is an in-house CLR production that will surely satisfy even the most exigent listeners. Both tracks on CLR061 are good examples of one of Monoloc´strongest gifts, which is the ability to freely use elements from all kinds of musical styles and incorporate them artistically into his own compositions. "Shame" is a groovy, atmospherically rich piece of music, which includes several of the artist´s musical influences, always staying true to his popular minimalistic Techno roots. The dreamy, captivating vocals add a certain retro-touch to the track, which is not a contradiction but merely a challenge for a free-spirited producer like Monoloc. The second track "HH" is a shining example of an uncompromising piece of up to date Techno, reduced to the indispensable but still deep and full of personal expression.
If you are a friend of intelligent electronic music you should definitely pay attention to the present release and the upcoming album of this inspiring artist.

Rødhåd’s debut album ‘Anxious’ sees the artist step away from the dancefloor and further develop the narrative qualities of his beautiful soundscapes. It was the natural next step to present the sound he began cultivating with his recent EPs “Kinder der Ringwelt” and “Söhne der Erde” as a full length LP. The experience the album is trying to convey is being thrown into a world that is ready to crush you. They have you with your back to the wall, and you are ready to give way to despair. Will you be able fight back? How is it even possible? Rødhåd is the spearhead of a new generation of techno producers and DJs. With his bass heavy grooves and dubby atmospheric soundscapes he is a sonic guide, knowing exactly where he wants to take the crowd, leading through the inexhaustible sounds of techno music in all its beauty and gloom. He fully immerses himself into the music, yet never loses himself.
