Marlon Hoffstadt debuts his first album on his own Midnight Themes imprint.
Set for release on March 13th 2020, Marlon Hoffstadt’s debut album ‘Planet Love’ marks the ninth release on his label, since its launch in 2017.

Having established his very own signature sound over the years, navigating through feelings from house, disco, trance and eurodance, Planet Love showcases these sensibilities in a long listening format.

While he seemed to not take himself too seriously throughout his past releases, naming records “Ready For Take Hoff” and “Der Hoffmaster”, Marlon now touches a topic which, over time got more and more serious and important to him. Having dealt with anxiety and panic attacks in the past he developed his very own mantra, which one could already recover in projects such as his phone free "Savour The Moment" events at Berlin's Renate.

“Be kind. Be humble. Take Care. Give Love. Because only love will set you free”.

This simple but powerful mantra, that he kicks his album off with, is not only his very own guide through insecurity and fears that he faces in his life as a musician, father, student and promoter. Much more it is a reminder that true success is not defined by heavy touring, big money and fame. Instead being successful means to be kind and caring towards yourself, your fellow humans and the environment and that most importantly love is stronger than anything else.

The full album is out March 13th, 2020 and is available digitally as well as on a 2x 12” double LP. It comes along with a full cover artwork from Hermann Reimer, titled “Ewige Gärtner”.

Dub and acid are the words as Marlon Hoffstadt goes deep on ‘Simple Communication’ the sixth EP in his Midnight Themes series. The Berlin producer has maintained a busy release schedule in 2018 and is intent on carrying through into 2019, starting with three tracks that fly the flag for his current sound: deep, dubby and subtly euphoric.

Opener “Take A Moment” is a finely tuned piece of weighty dubbed out techno with whiffs of vintage pool parties and a lonely acid line creepin’n’bleepin on the horizon. “Action and Reaction” harks back to the 90s, rolling out waves of pads and melodies that ascend and descend while a mean old bassline keeps proceedings on track. Clocking in at 11 minutes, the two act play of “Eye Contact” closes the EP on a blissed out note.

Late May will see Marlon Hoffstadt launch his new Midnight Themes imprint with a fourtrack EP of all original material from the German artist. Berlin’s Marlon Hoffstadt has been steadily carving out a name for himself over the past few years via his Retrograde imprint and his own productions, most notably his critically acclaimed
collaborative works with Chicago House legend Paris Brightledge and most recently a release on DJ Haus’ Hot Haus imprint accompanied by a Vin Sol remix. Amongst this Marlon has been regularly running his event series at Chalet club on his home turf, welcoming the likes of FIT Siegel, Telephones and Seb Wildblood to play alongside him.
Here though we see Hoffstadt inaugurate his new imprint Midnight Themes, opening with ‘Cyclin Since 94’ and its airy pad lines, crunchy rhythms and acid tinged arpeggios before ‘The Power Of
Now’ offers a more stripped-back aesthetic, laying focus on distorted percussion, dynamic 303 bass leads, resonant synth licks and cosseting chords.

Mid November will see Retrograde co-founder Marlon Hoffstadt pair up with Paris Brightledge for 'Shattered'.
Following a run of releases for his Retrograde label and a track featured on the 100 Dirt Crew Compilation Berlin based DJ and producer Marlon Hoffstadt continues his upwards trajectory, once again enlisting the services of legendary Chicago vocalist Paris Brightledge who recently collaborated with Paranoid London on their 'Paris Dub 1 & 2' records.
Stepping up first is the original mix of 'Shattered' with Hoffstadt and Brightledge delivered a raw, experimental house feel via broken drums breaks, sweeping synth chords and acidic bass chops, whilst Paris' vocal stylings add a soulful edge to the record. An 'Instrumental' mix of 'Shattered' follows and as the name would suggest lays focus on the rhythmic and melodic aspects of the composition, shining light on the swinging breaks, emotive string melodies.
Lastly to complete the package is 'Elevate' which sees Hoffstadt fuse weighty drums and ethereal pad swells with arpeggio synth leads and subtly unfolding intricacies, whilst Brightledge's understated vocal contributions further fuel the records hypnotic feel.

Our third release 'Untitled' emerges as a moody four tracker born in Matteo Luis' home studio.
The title track is the driest start off there could be. It monotonously heads for the tracks climax in manner of a cyclone, a straight stomper that evolves its full strength within its last solution, surprising with an acidic and dubby face that makes you want to dive right into the dashing structure of its last minutes.
'Yucca' has those smooth chords in the back that are dramatically charged, sexy and slow. The whole tune seems nostalgic and thoughtful with its atmospheric dub elements. Something for the lovers.
'Impulse' is Matteo in full effect. Bouncy and moody at the same time, it captures the EP's dub influence perfectly. This song is a trip forcing you to seek for the harmonious redemption that finally appears within a late chord change.
The track is remixed by one of our long time favourites - Benedikt Frey. His irresistible, murky style is retrievable in this work. The fully dynamic
break-beat based jam finally frames the mystic vibes of the overall EP through its dark appeal.

He recently delivered the vocals on Paranoid London's killers 'Paris Dub 1 & 2'. 'Smile' the title track of the EP, highlights Paris' ability to hypnotize the dance floor with his unique voice combined with Marlon's production smoothness. With 'Smile' Paris displays: 'torn from the angst of my soul concerning the tragedy of love and life lost'. 'Smile' got a special treatment by Detroit's very own Kris Wadsworth. His Venus Rx Remix lived up to its name and has some 'pretty nasty analog stuff going on' to catapult yourself right into the atmosphere. The B-side 'Lies' discusses how coming from the streets doesn't always allow feelings to be displayed in life or in love. It's a percussion driven, 303 based club workout. No rest for dancers on this one. Remix comes from label artist Matteo Luis, providing a more synth accented version, introducing an engrossing sound that will be continued on his upcoming RTGD 003. As the first output of our new label we present you RTGD001: the "Won't Cry" EP by Matteo Luis & Lo, both part of the fam & currently finishing the last touches of their upcoming debut album. The young cologne natives offer a warming and moony/dreamy/atmospheric work from their archives to start the labels catalogue as smooth as possible. Alongside Matteo's deeply driven signature sound, Lo's lyrics will lead you into a dreamy state with blue pills in backstreets and babies and pigs in the sky. The original was reworked trice by amongst others, friends of the emerging label as well as long time role models of the label heads Marlon Hofffstadt and Goldberg. The former delivers a drifty and impulsive close to the floor interpretation of Won't Cry, whilst buddy Johnjons remix gleams through percussive sequence sounds and a further deep touch. Besides these two auspicious interpretations, no other than Running Back boss Gerd Janson and fellow Philipp Lauer are highlighting their perspective on the title track in appearance of their renowned and outstanding supergroup Tuff City Kids. The duos' outcome is an ingeniously constructed rework of Matteo Luis and Lo's original that never fails to raise euphoria throughout the whole track.

The initial seed for this project was planted in 2020 when Nicolás Jaar wrote the song “Piedras” for a
concert at the Museum of Memory & Human Rights in Santiago, Chile, which commemorates the
victims of human rights violations during the military dictatorship led by Augusto Pinochet between
1973 and 1990. Between 2022-2023 it took on a new form as a radio play entitled 'Archivos de Radio
Piedras', which was shared on a dedicated Telegram channel. In 2024, the play was converted into a
24 channel installation at the University Museum of Mexico City (MUAC), where it was exhibited for 5
months.

Piedras 1 and 2 is a collection of the tracks featured within the play, all new music by Jaar, but partly
presented within the play as the music of Salinas Hasbún (the name a composite homage to Jaar's
grandmothers, Graciela Salinas and Miriam Hasbún).

The play follows two friends mourning the disappearance of Salinas Hasbún, a musician and writer
who vanished in the early 2020s. Although they live in a future where technology is advanced, they
resort to DIY radio methods because the anonymous group “Las 0cho” has launched a worldwide
attack on undersea internet cables, causing a global internet blackout.

The play's central theme revolves around the idea that truths, memories and identities speak from the
cracks (“rasgaduras”), or the "in-between" spaces ("en el entre"). This concept is supported by the
way much of the narration unfolds - in the liminal spaces between radio frequencies. The instability
and transitory nature of a constantly shifting radio dial becomes not just a metaphor but the structure
of the play itself. It’s in these moments of noise, static and interference that the deeper revelations of
the story emerge. This disjointed, ever-changing medium mirrors the way memory and trauma
operate within the play - non-linear, slipping through the gaps, found in fragments or ordinary
moments, rather than direct transmissions of “official” historical accounts.

This notion reaches its climax at the end of the narrative, when a text is discovered in which Salinas
speaks of finding a new number in a small pond in a cave mentioned in the first episodes of the radio
play. This pond, inside the “cochlea of the world”, is seen as a way to introduce real-life randomness
to computation. Embodied in the salt lakes of northern Chile, home to the world’s oldest bacteria, this
randomness disrupts the rigid order of binary code, paving the way for a transformation of digital life.

Having established his very own signature sound over the years, navigating through feelings from house, disco, trance and eurodance, Planet Love showcases these sensibilities in a long listening format.

While he seemed to not take himself too seriously throughout his past releases, naming records “Ready For Take Hoff” and “Der Hoffmaster”, Marlon now touches a topic which, over time got more and more serious and important to him. Having dealt with anxiety and panic attacks in the past he developed his very own mantra, which one could already recover in projects such as his phone free "Savour The Moment" events at Berlin's Renate.

“Be kind. Be humble. Take Care. Give Love. Because only love will set you free”.

This simple but powerful mantra, that he kicks his album off with, is not only his very own guide through insecurity and fears that he faces in his life as a musician, father, student and promoter. Much more it is a reminder that true success is not defined by heavy touring, big money and fame. Instead being successful means to be kind and caring towards yourself, your fellow humans and the environment and that most importantly love is stronger than anything else.

The full album is out March 13th, 2020 and is available digitally as well as on a 2x 12” double LP. It comes along with a full cover artwork from Hermann Reimer, titled “Ewige Gärtner”.

Late May will see Marlon Hoffstadt launch his new Midnight Themes imprint with a fourtrack EP of all original material from the German artist. Berlin’s Marlon Hoffstadt has been steadily carving out a name for himself over the past few years via his Retrograde imprint and his own productions, most notably his critically acclaimed
collaborative works with Chicago House legend Paris Brightledge and most recently a release on DJ Haus’ Hot Haus imprint accompanied by a Vin Sol remix. Amongst this Marlon has been regularly running his event series at Chalet club on his home turf, welcoming the likes of FIT Siegel, Telephones and Seb Wildblood to play alongside him.
Here though we see Hoffstadt inaugurate his new imprint Midnight Themes, opening with ‘Cyclin Since 94’ and its airy pad lines, crunchy rhythms and acid tinged arpeggios before ‘The Power Of
Now’ offers a more stripped-back aesthetic, laying focus on distorted percussion, dynamic 303 bass leads, resonant synth licks and cosseting chords.
On the flip Hoffstadt leads with ‘Chemical Romance’ as the name would suggest a dazed and hypnotic fusion of wandering leads, swirling dub echoes and robust drums before ‘Mutual Desire’ rounds out the package on a smooth and ethereal tip.

Trentemøller returns with his fifth studio album 'Obverse' in September 2019! Anders Trentemøller is a well-known multi-instrumentalist, but perhaps the one he's most adept at is the studio itself. 'Obverse' is the result of him expanding that skill even further. 'Obverse' often feels like an instrumental album because it started life as one, the driving philosophy being "what if the pressure of having to perform these songs live is removed entirely?" Granting yourself the freedom to chase down every idea a studio offers comes with privileges. What happens when you reverse a synth part mid-verse? Why not send an entire track through a faulty distortion pedal? Inspiration reveals itself in a variety of forms and, before long, a simple chord progression contorts into something entirely new. It's a work method that yielded great results for the legendary German Kosmiche/Motorik experimentalists of the 1970's. Intentional or not, 'Obverse' embodies more than a little of that spirit without even a hint of pastiche.
So it only makes sense that 'Obverse' would stray from its original roadmap. In due time, half of the nascent compositions featured singers, including Lina Tullgren, Lisbet Fritze, and jennylee, of Warpaint, another band deeply influenced by dream pop. While 'Obverse' was born from a different work ethic than previous efforts, it also continues an arc that started in 2006. Each successive effort has represented a logical next step beyond the album before, and 'Obverse' absolutely picks up where Fixion left off.
For the past decade Trentemøller has been perfecting this form of sonic chiaroscuro to conjure up images of severe landscapes, and to mirror the Scandinavian climate, where half the year the sun barely sets, and the other it barely tops the horizon. While there has been a film noir element in his previous work, 'Obverse' is the first time each song has felt like a collection of pocket soundtracks.
By fusing together a love of dream pop, dark synth-based music, film scores, and a deep connection with the stark Nordic panoramas, Anders has created an inimitable language. Ultimately 'Obverse' resides in a genre all its own.

The packaging of a Trentemøller record is intrinsically linked to the songs contained therein, though it's never been more the case than with this release. Los Angeles based artist Jesse Draxler has contributed a cornerstone in the form of original art, which examines the black and the white, the dynamic vs. the serene, the big picture vs. the minutiae. It's a case study in complementary contrasts, like the album itself.

Dub and acid are the words as Marlon Hoffstadt goes deep on ‘Simple Communication’ the sixth EP in his Midnight Themes series. The Berlin producer has maintained a busy release schedule in 2018 and is intent on carrying through into 2019, starting with three tracks that fly the flag for his current sound: deep, dubby and subtly euphoric.

Opener “Take A Moment” is a finely tuned piece of weighty dubbed out techno with whiffs of vintage pool parties and a lonely acid line creepin’n’bleepin on the horizon. “Action and Reaction” harks back to the 90s, rolling out waves of pads and melodies that ascend and descend while a mean old bassline keeps proceedings on track. Clocking in at 11 minutes, the two act play of “Eye Contact” closes the EP on a blissed out note.
