Bitches Brew House features the deep and sexy Jimpster remix of “Turning The Tide”, by soul singer Jinadu (later of the Beauty Room with Kirk DeGeorgio) which was championed by the soul/house DJs like Dennis Ferrer. On the flip is Cosmo’s Ch’i project featuring Billie Godfrey with “Mistaken” with a remix by Louie Vega protégé Alix Alvarez who gives it a sultry dancefloor vibe. The second cut on the B-Side vinyl is the Cielo Dub of “The Real Thing” by Bambú, a cover of the Stevie Wonder classic “The Real Thing”. A core member of the artist collective around Hermann Nitsch, Otto Mühl and Rudolf Schwarzkogler, instigators of ‚Viennese Actionism', it was during the early 1960s that Günter Brus staged his first actions in Vienna. Due to the radical nature of his works, Brus soon found himself at odds with the Austrian authorities. Sentenced to six months of close arrest, in 1970 Brus absconded to Berlin. During the subsequent years, his works were shown by a range of internationally renowned museums and galleries - nowadays, Brus ranks among Austria's most eminent contemporary artists. ??The DVD introduces the films ‚Körperanalysen' (body analyses), an overview of Actionism movies from 1964-1970 (a. o. Kurt Kren, Otto Mühl, Ernst Schmid Jr.), compiled and presented in a documentary format by Peter Kasperak, as well as Anita Natmessnig's documentary 'Schrecklich verletzlich" (awfully hurt). In addition, the DVD features many slide shows of Actionism photography by a. o. Ludwig Hoffenreich.

Kippenberger unplugged! Martin Kippenberger skipped out on this world after just 44 years - in 1997, the art world's flamboyant enfant terrible, one of Germany's most famous painters and best known for his biting provocations and prolific output, died of the consequences of his equally prolific alcohol consumption. In 1978, Kippenberger moved to Berlin, launched "Kippenbergers Büro" (together with his future gallerist Gisela Capitain) and became the managing director of Kreuzberg's seminal venue SO36 where he proceeded to confuse the local punks with acts like Red Krayola, Scritti Politti, Kleenex or Kevin Coyne. His own band Luxus (featuring Christine Hahn of Malaria, among others) released a limited edition single in 1979, available in homeopathic quantities. In subsequent years, he cranked out a steady stream of further singles, a. o. with fellow painter Albert Oehlen. Kippenberger's not so secret love and passion, however, was swing music - expansive, and possibly pompous, big band jazz - and traces of this have found their way onto a Golden Kot Quartett release, which lists Kippenberger as its drummer. Yuppi Du, on the other hand, makes the most of his Dadaist humour, while several versions of Ja, Ja, Ja, Nee, Nee, Nee pay tongue-in-cheek homage to Joseph Beuys. Now, give or take three decades later, Edition Kröthenhayn releases the surviving works of Kippenberger and his friends on CD and vinyl. Expect 60 minutes of music: jazz, noise and obscure sound experiments squeezed into a limited, hand-numbered (1000 copies) 10" vinyl box containing three records and a book or an equally limited CD box featuring a 72-page book (english/gernan). Both editions come replete with a slip lid box and banderole and are prime examples of luxurious, high-quality bookbinding. In addition, essays and writing by Max Dax (Spex), Wolfgang Müller (Die Tödliche Doris) and Frieder Butzmann are accompanied by many previously unpublished - and unseen - photographs.

Austria 2000: At the general election, Jörg Haider’s FPÖ had met with widespread approval – and for the first time since WW2 a party of the extreme right joined the government. Never slow to react, infamous German director Christoph Schlingensief soon retaliated with an extraordinary form of protest.
As a tangible satire on xenophobia, Big Brother madness and new nationalism Schlingensief decided to stage an interactive concentration camp – right at the heart of Vienna’s picturesque tourist centre.

Volume Two turns deeper. Listen. Dig further. Acidic meltowns and bass thrusting. Let the music speak for the music. Artist unknown. Their was once a time when most artists producing techno music were living anonymously amongst their music releases. It was a time where you wondered who the individual/s making such sounds were and what if any message they were trying to convey. It was a time when the internet was not available to the public and was unheard of by most. A time where techno records were being released from only a handful of countries. A time where there was no European Union. A very distinctive style of techno would appear from each of these places. It was a time where word spread about music not by text in pixels and lights but by mouth , facsimile and a few magazines, fanzines often produced in a language not of your own. All of this anonymity provoked much thought when listening to the music. The music literally spoke for itself with no hype or image factor of the person behind the music. Then came the internet. The super highway of information. Much of the anonymity factor in techno quickly faded away. The loss of mystique in the scene would soon diminish with many respected artists pushing more for image then the music itself. As the end of the last decade came about an unorganized revolution in techno started to form. Suddenly over a few months time a slew of anonymous of techno releases from different artists helped lead the techno scene back to it's proper form. Where some might think it has now all gone a bit cliche , "The Secret Initiative" see's itself this movement as an important step in the evolution of techno. The anonymity factor has helped bring forward, advancement in style & sound design. It has given the chance for many an artist who have been expected of creating a certain style to drift off into other stylistic territories. It has also given the chance for newer artists to step on board and represent themselves. Let's face it. The last year in techno has been the most innovative period in quite along time. The anonymity factor which made a big resurgence within the last year has definitely helped sparked this change in direction.
