The Cocoon Recordings very own inhouse compilation series DOTS AND PEARLS is back once again and takes us on a tour to the expected sounds of the upcoming spring season. Frankfurt based Christian Burkhardt starts the selection of four exclusive and previously unreleased tracks. His "Karambolage" breathes spring air and creates an early summer feeling par excellence. This tune will even turn gray and rainy april weather into bright sunlight. On spot with playful and positive harmonies and a very subtle 80's synthie-pop flavour. This one here definitely makes us want more!
Next in line is Argy, one of our most long standing Cocoon Recordings artists. His "How Late It Was, How Late" has an undeniable 80s retro charm, too however it follows a completely different direction than Burkhardts "Karambolage". This one refers strongly to an early 80s acid sound and reminds us of great productions such as "On And On" by Jesse Saunders. We cannot tell how far Argy's reminiscences goes back but for the ones who know: "How Late It Was, How Late" will bring you back to the great times of labels like Rams Horn and their Rational Youth's "Dancing On The Berlin" Wall. Brave and surprising at the same time and above all: "übercool"!
With "Baroon" by Markus Fix follows another acid track - however, this one has a far more epic flavour full of warm analogue strings and based on a hypnotic arrangement. Fix "Baroon" is defintely less retro than Argys and Burkhardts contributions - a deep tech house gem made for the first sunrises of the upcoming allnighter open airs.
With "Euphrasia" Jim Jules accelerates slightly but goes also deeper at the same time. His production follows the cinematic mood of Markus Fix but paints a darker picture. This one takes us on an intensive musical journey. Deep, slightly gloomy and extremely hypnotic, "Euphrasia" is almost captivating and bewitching and a perfect conclusion for this highly diversified fourtracker.

Having built up his skills as a majorly talented DJ in Tokyo spinning a wide range of sounds and styles, his reputation continues to grow at pace thanks to a string of amazing releases on labels such as Highgrade and WirSindEins in recent years - not to mention strong support by some of the scene's biggest names. Here he proves what all the fuss is about - a stunning three track EP on Steve Bug's Dessous Recordings.
'Be There' starts things off right - uber deep vibes throughout, with bubbling synths and spacey effects, all tied together by a hypnotic Chandler-esque rhythm track.
'Give Me' continues the vibe, deep and jazzy chords punctuate the shuffling rhythm and trippy vocal samples add a layer of wonkiness that will see this get a lot of attention.

Info: We're back again with Russian Artist, Module One. At just 22 years-old he's already had a stack of releases including an ambient album on Detroit Underground. 'Hometown' was written in the depths of Russia in a place called Novocherkassk, whose industrial cityscapes made a great impact on the overall sound of the album. Most of the tracks were written in a few takes. Most notably, the track 'Innermost Self' is a dedication to Module One's grandma who passed away a short time ago.
Due to a tragic sequence of events, he was unable to see her before she fell into a coma. The track is overloaded with tension and fear as well as stark anxiety. Vinyl tastes better...

Exactly one year after the release of their second album M eanderlust, Randweg r elease their first
EP with remixes - by Nick Höppner, Alex.Do, Luke Abbott and In A Left Place on March 31st
2017. The Double-A-sided Anderlus t / Requisetales EP appears on Funken Records (vinyl -
including free digital bonus track Comico Pera ( Der Dritte Raum Remix ) / digital).
To understand how this record is intended, take a closer look at the artwork: no matter how you
turn it: a backside does not exist. On their upcoming Anderlust / Requisetales EP, Randweg
present rearrangements of tracks from their two former albums. The new versions clearly bear the
signature of their producers, but the tracks also reflect the full range of the duo, which has found its
very own sound with clarinet, bass and cajon.
For the remixes of two tracks from the ir album M eanderlust, Randweg attracted Nick Höppner and
Alex.Do. You can hear the joy both producers had playing with the original material, which was the
basis of their versio ns for the Anderlust-side. While Nick Höppner transfers the calmly prancing
Wokules Walzer into a subtle but euphoric house-track, Alex.Do slows down the tempo in his
version of Pool, and plunges down deep into a warm downbeat-bath.
Randweg ’s debut-album Equisetales was released in 2013, and it would have been a pity if the two
remixes from the early days of the duo remained unheard in their private archives. Luke Abbott
surprises with an abstract-pl ayful version of the track Ball a nd In A Left Place turns Y ofa into an
atmospheric club-track.
The d igital bonus-track Comico Pera (Der Dritte Raum Remix) by Andreas Krüger is included in the
download-package for the EP. He produced the album Equisetales in 2013 and founded the label
Funken. Randweg are Andreas Ernst (clarinet) and David Baurmann (bass, guitar, cajon).

We're back from hibernation after releasing the third Roundup at the end of 2016 and we're starting off with a new signing. Milan based Parker Madicine joins Heist with some high tech funk with a serious nod to the "D" and we've got Byron the Aquarius delivering a great jazzy remix.
You'll be more likely to find Parker Madicine browsing through boxes of old jazz and soul records than you'll see him showcasing his social media skills. He's a real vinyl junky and moreover a hip hop fanatic and probably loves his synthesizers more than his mother. Apart from promoting funk and soul oriented parties in Milan, he founded CT-HI records, short for "Contemporary Theories of Hip Hop Influences".
A few years back he teamed up a.o. with his buddies Veez-O and Turbojazz to create some Dilla and early 90's inspired hip hop and these influences are clearly present in his EP for Heist.
With Heartbreaker, he lays down a dreamy but heavy groove for the first minute or so, arpeggiating its way to the moment where the airy pads make room for a looser than loose groove where synth stabs and bass line dance around each other creating a killer vibe.
Zawinul starts in the same manner, rough kick, loose and degraded hi-hats and dreamy Rhodes chords. The tracks build further with some lovely brassy hits and arps, whereas Placebo is the most stripped back but high tempo track, where an airy and delayed bassline does most of the work to set the mood.
We're really happy to have Byron the Aquarius reworking one of PM's tracks. He's been on a roll with his releases on Sound Signature, Wild Oats and recently remixed Max Graef on Ninja Tune. It was in Placebo where Byron found the most fruitful ground to showcase his magic on the keys, flipping the contemplative original into a feel-good showcase of harmonizing melodies. Underneath the sweet upper layers of the Moog solo work, he lays down a killer disco bass line, running up and down the octave giving the whole track a great forward thinking and energetic feel.
This EP feels like a great musical start for Heist in 2017, and we're looking forward to sharing this, and much more to come with you.

The complementary duality that is Ichinen is the raw expression of Roberto Bosco and Kiny. 2017 sees them
return with the proven form of their alliance, kicking things off with the Dual Craters album. Produced through live
sessions in their native Salerno, this album embodies the symbiosis of their individualities. Traversing the
universe much like lone comets, the two land on a single planet with a resounding crash, leaving deep craters on
two opposite ends of this floating sphere. But despite their being unique, they are also perfectly matched in shape
and form. It is this mirror dynamic that makes Ichinen output so immersive. Roberto and Kiny each bring their own
take to music yet create a singular, relatable narrative through their collaboration.Tracks like “First Impact” and
“Strangely Comforting” — with their sidereal atmosphere and sparse drum arrangements — paint a picture of the
interplanetary journey that brings Ichinen into being. “Lander” and “Small Martian” offer a peek into the planet onto
which the lone comets crashed — a space filled with expansive, empty land and unfamiliar inhabitants.The
second half of the album moves into a realm of revelations about where we are. “Be silent and safe” features
indiscernible voices in conversation, piquing curiosity while leaving little to be concluded. “Not so plain in this
terrain” showcases our surroundings further, with unknown creatures squeaking all around us. “Dual Craters”
takes us to a vantage point, from which we can look out across the planet’s surface and clearly see all its
wondrous beings, out and unafraid, emerging from each crater in equal abundance. Some howl excitedly, others
meet and playfully bump into each other, but all seem to get along. It is in “Endlessness” that we find the truth
behind Ichinen — a tale of two souls woven into one sound. The craters are matched in breadth and depth. It is in
their respective textures that they differ. And therein lies the power of their connection.

Mental Groove Records is thrilled to announce Bigeneric's new double album entitled "Spielmanda" in collaboration with the artist own INZEC imprint.
Swiss artist Marco Repetto is the chromatic brain behind Bigeneric musical project and has a strong background in the burgeoning scenes of minimal synth (Grauzone with Stephan Eicher), early techno (Synectics on Aphex Twins' Rephlex imprint) and ambient / trance (Planet Love on Superstition).
Spielmanda album reflects the artist deep love for nature, psychedelia, health and futurism.
The title is borrowed from a book by Berner writer and myths researcher Sergius Golowin and is a fictional legendary and mystic place in the Swiss pre-alps, a place that Marco Repetto explores through the 16 tracks of this album that he has constructed and tested at numerous performances.
A truly justified and bright +2 hours long daydreaming walk across the deep forests and infinitively colorful meadows of imaginary Spielmanda's landscapes and beyond, with Marco Repetto's heart rebel signature, a unique and modern mixture of technology driven hippie & punk culture.

It's a match made in heaven, techno veteran Dino Sabatini meets up and coming talent Luigi Tozzi, who over the last couple of years has delivered stellar EPs for the likes of Hypnus Records, Dynamic Reflection, Mental Modern, and Sabatini's own Outis Music. Anyone familiar with the two will know they share an aptitude for adventurous and evolving techno. This is crystallised in this collaboration, which doesn't take the easy path of creating straightforward club tracks. Instead, the three tracks on this release explore the subtler sides of the two producers. That's not to say this isn't club music - it
is - but they have a lot more to offer than pure functionality. The EP opens with Manticora. This eight-minute experience takes the listener through
winding claustrophobia as ringing feedback pulses across the stereo field and cavernous rhythms dance about, hard to quite grab. These rhythms build to a point to which they solidify and fall into place, a point at which the track gains a feeling of propulsion, alongside shifting and emotive reverberations and resonances. Next up is Celeno, a track that slowly unravels under a backing of shuffling hats and a rolling kick drum. Twinkling synths swirl around before giving way to a rhythmic and compelling melody. Celeno's musical themes continue into the third and final track, Aello, which eases you in with softer drums while a haunting drone builds up. Over this, ghostly arpeggios develop alongside weightier drums that carry the track through until the end, leaving just enough time for the drone to ring out and provide a fitting end to the EP.

Kosmos of sound phenomena is devoid of a distinct beginning and end, fluid and polymorphous. Stream of sound is continuous, no matter whether and which volatile events are registered, and which ones are omitted. It
is a complex state which transgresses borders defined by source, signal and mechanism of perception. Pastoral/tropical soundscapes and post-brutalist compositions by Max Loderbauer and Jacek Sienkiewicz from their "End" CD seem to evoke those situations where can actually hear objects, shapes and time flow itself, a sort of synaesthesia which erases and obliterates beginnings and ends of events, processes and phenomena. Apocalyptic and contemplative spaces generated by this pair of seasoned sound creators explode genre bastions of ambient and IDM, leading into the spectral areas once explored by such pioneers and Popol Vuh or Ilhan Mimaroglu. Above all, etheric and extra-sensitive "End" marks the meeting of two incurable individualists, who use various tools of their trade to come up with a surprisingly atemporal effect, an insistent pulse of detail on an ever-morphing background. Without vivid commentary and recognizable soundbites of the present, "End" is simultaneously an interesting projection of hopes and anxieties of the New Age. Core of tracks included on the record has been produced on the occasion of Max and Jacek appearing as a live duo during 2015's Berlin Atonal festival, which resulted in well received “Alpine-Tatra-Himalaian" EP "Ridges". Remaining compositions are natural conclusion of their friendship, conversations, meetings, trips and recording sessions that operate according to the rule of free improvisation with a reduced instrumental setup.

Long before Booka Shade became one of the most successful international dance music acts of the last 10 years, Arno Kammermeier & Walter Merziger formed a new wave pop band in the early 90s, signed a record deal in 1992 and released 2 albums under the name Planet Claire. GALVANY STREET marks the return to their pop roots in collaboration with former Archive singer Craig Walker and a few additional guests like Urdur (GusGus), Australian Yates and Daniel Spencer from London. "As a singer it's a real pleasure to work with Booka Shade as the music they presented to me was so rich and full of melody. The rhythms and melody are always top level and make the job of writing toplines and lyrics a very enjoyable one. I really love the combination of all our influences - 80's synth pop, 90's Manchester and right up to more current stuff like The Weeknd - it's all in there and it makes for a very interesting sound." (Craig Walker) Mark Plati, known for his production and mixing with David Bowie, The Cure, Prince and many others worked on "Digging A Hole", "Eyes Open" and "All Falls Down". Fritz Hilpert, mix engineer and electronic musician, a friend of Booka Shade, got involved with the final mix for "All Falls Down".

Argentina’s Guti and Australia’s Morgan join forces once again, this time on the Martinez Brothers label Cuttin’ Headz with a five track EP entitled ‘This Must Be The Future’, including Mark Broom, Dan Ghenacia and Chris Carrier remixes. Established in 2014, the Martinez Brothers Cuttin’ Headz imprint has been going from strength to strength, with a busy release schedule littered with influential artists from across the house and techno scene including Jerome Sydenham and Steve Rachmad. 2017 sees the label take on powerhouse collaborators Guti and Morgan for a new collaborative EP, Guti’s fusion of influences shine through in his productions which have gained him support from the likes of Loco Dice, Luciano Ricardo Villalobos and Carl Cox, whilst Morgan has been gradually honing her raw stripped back sound in the studio and helping to run Guti’s Rompecorazones label. ‘This Must Be The Future’ opens up the EP with a subtle yet effective groove that meanders in time with a set of hypnotic effects and vocal samples with twisted acid bleeps. Next up, the Dan Ghenacia and Chris Carrier Edit rolls in with a headier groove laced with booming kicks and scuttling hats, delving into the depths with panning bleeps and dissipating synth noises. Guti’s solo production ‘Her House’ goes in with a deep and Latin-tinged rhythm, slowly building euphoric samples and a vacillating sub before the Mark Broom remix takes a different route with a peak time twisted techno feel, laced with intoxicating chords and infectious snare fills. Lastly, closing the package is Guti’s digital only release ‘Airplane Jam’, in which an intoxicating 303 arpeggio loops alongside jittery and crafty percussion in typical Guti minimal aesthetic.

Almost naive, like those early 90s IDM-techno record we cherish but with a very different angle. As usual, we liked Vicram because we don't really understand how he makes his music.

Well, it seems natural to us, in any case. The NYC artist is now a respected member of the Big Apple's contemporary house and techno wave, and it's an absolute must for him to be represented on the city's bubbling scene, especially when he's up for firing off tunes like "Space Jungle" and Satsang", two mean, club-minded house bangers with a prominent lower-end. "Divide & Conquer" turns things darker and more ominous thanks to its icy, minimal approach - a cold blend of stripped-back beats and circling bass tones - while "Urantia Of Nebadon" displaces the traditional house framework in favour of a dark, molecular selection of electronic sounds guided by a simple pattern of 4/4 beats. After a decade releasing club-savvy music, argentinian producer Alejandro Mosso has lately approached a richer and more profound sound. 'Gaia', his double 12" for Hivern, might be the best expression of such evolution. 'Gaia' is still conceived with the dance-floor in mind -as a matter of fact, some of its tracks have become staples in John Talabot's sets as well as in those of Hivern's core members-. But moreover making people move, it's music that shows a desire of telling stories. "I prefer to refer to them as songs instead of tracks, they all have a certain narrative", says Alejandro. Indeed, these six compositions cover a vast emotional spectrum, expressing raw emotions through detailed and precise productions that never feel too calculated or fabricated. Cuts as Rhea, Uranus and Naiads capture a very specific kind of serene bliss, one in which melancholy is more reassuring than bitter. By contrast, Ares and Dryads explore darker corners, embodying angst through tension-rising soundscapes and solemn choral vocal samples. It's a dichotomy that perfectly captures the ups and downs of any restless mind. In Alejandro's case, it's the result of a particularly introspective period in his life, in which he voluntarily disconnected from the electronic scene in order to regain some perspective on his career and creative process.

After sending out these tracks last summer and getting great reactions from DJs and dancers alike, Hell Yeah is pleased to finally officially release virtuoso musician Verdo's Little Blue EP, complete with a remix from Lauer. Fully remastered for vinyl, the likes of Lexx, Chris Coco, Soft Rocks, Leo Mas and many more have all be playing these tunes with great results. The talented Verdo runs the famous Gratis Club in Senigallia on the Italian east coast. It is a place he calls home, and that has really allowed him to hone and sharpen his DJ skills so that now he is a slick, unpredictable and singular DJ with many tricks up his sleeve. Bjorn Torske, DJ Fettburger, Prins Thomas, Kenji Takimi, Glenn Underground and more have all played there in the last decade and Verdo himself is a skilled pianist who has played for Zero7 singer Mozez in the past. He has worked with Hell Yeah before now, as well as releasing on Danny Was A Drag King, and here serves up his biggest bit of dance floor dynamite to date, including his previously digital only cut 'Big Fish' (mixed by DJ Rocca). Opener 'Little Blue' is a perfectly sunny track with hip swinging claps, bobbling bass and boat party vibes that soothe your soul. Rich with instrumentals and golden synth lines, it's a perfect beat that gets followed up by the retro disco pump of 'Sazerac', another tropical cut with loose drums and rubbery bass to get you up on your toes. The massive 'Big Fish' then hits hard with its tin pot percussion and wild synths all making you flail your arms like you just don't care. Jumbled jungle vibes and big chords all swell your heart as your feet skip about down low. Closing out the package is Phillip Lauer (Tuff City Kids), one of the most in demand stars of the day, and his version is a direct house jam with percolating and rugged synths and slapping hits, all demanding you ditch your cocktail and get up and groove.

Yann Leguay is a Brussels-based French Artist. His approach to sound design for installation, performance and film centers on the materiality of sound. Both as visual artist, sound maker and reverse, he has participated in numerous exhibitions and festival in Europe and beyond. He also composes sound tracks for artist's films and participates in choreographic projects (with Ula Sickle, Studio Kabako...). Yann Leguay's work focuses on everything around sound. Materiality, diversion and tautology are the main ingredients of his work. By modifying the reality of the material (as sounds or real objects) he affects the sensibility of the viewer, changing the perception and relation with materiality. His interest on media and the players that work with it is a clear position on what we are making as utopian, wanting to produce perpetual and solid memory. By deconstructing the elements of this human need, he gives an overview and a distance on the global relation we have with objects and memory.
