Originally born in the South of England into a musically gifted family, Mark Reeve received the major order to be a DJ and to play electronic dance music when he moved to the Rhein-Main area in 1998.
Mark is now known today as a non stop DJ and Producer , as an artist he has now had his most important releases on cult label Defected with with Düsseldorf-based Tapesh, solo on Traumschallplatten (sep 2011), for Monique Musique or Neurotraxx - Marks Tracks are always a mixture between dancefloor moovers including groovy rhythms and big baselines.
In his Cocoon debut, Reeve presents himself in all his stylistic bandwidth: "Daybreak" combines a highly-functional tribal bass pumping station with such mighty dub chords that make the sun shine even in in the most remote corner of the club, while "Morning On Mars" gives priority to the hypnotic effect of percussion. Finally, the digital bonus track "Lichtkleid" and its central organ motif makes no secret of Reeve's enthusiasm for that dirty House sound in the Nineties. Mark Reeve is definitely a name to remember in 2011!

The Berlin-based partnership of long-time friends Steve Bug and Clé has reared many a classy deep house tune in its time… Their classic 'Silicon Ballet' EP from 2007 led us heavily into their sound, combining melodic, blissful elements with the heavy vibes of the old-school acid days. Now we're due another full EP with 'Seven Hills.'
The title track is a refined, long-playing stormer - perfect for the coming months as the summer weather stirs up open-air fever! From humble beginnings a riotous, epic track grows fusing the Poker Flat boys' patented analog production and natural ear for a melody. Heartfelt strings draw the track to its finale as a teasing breakdown arrives around the 6 minute mark. This is a real slow-burner in the best sense of the phrase.
The more urgent 'Monkeyshoulder' drives a deep blazing night-time vibe all the way home. Smooth, filtering chords and spacey stabs swirl in a magical futuristic-yet-classic house jam. Simply deadly in the right moment, this bright and dynamic production really does justice to the pair's talents.

Jin Choi is a musician, producer, DJ and live artist based in Berlin, Germany. Equally focused on groove and melodic structures, his music fuses electronic and naturalistic sounds to move the head and body. Once coined modern minimal, Choi's productions are equal parts emotion, melody and rhythm. "Full Range" is his first release on Serialism Records. In a recent interview, Choi described himself as a Burial loving music-nerd who is simply trying to create his own musical language. He has released on Lessizmore, Contexterrior, RomanPhoto & Archipel, to name a few. For SER10, he joins forces with Maceo Plex (aka Maetrik, the moniker he saves for his darker techno productions) to do just that. Most known for his recent revered deep-house single, "Vibe Your Love" on Crosstown, Plex makes the release the perfect late-night tool. First up is "Full Range", a dubby tech-house number with ominous and increasingly glitchy repetitive vocals that remind the listener of what Choi seems to already know - "music is the universal language, music is no longer irrelevant". Next, "Half Baked", the EP's star, manages to perfectly fuse industrial sounds with melody making a blissed-out, deep- house track. Mysterious squeaks, hisses and factorial inner workings provide the backdrop while warm time-stretched freestyle vocals guide us through the production. Maceo's Deep Remix is around 9-minutes of Chicago house inspired sounds layered with snappy high hats and emotive chords.

Souvenir has brought the crew together, one by one, from across town & under the ground - to showcase their newest & brightest. Each artist from the label roster has created their own new piece of aural bliss, adding their own unique flavor to the In the City compilation. Welcome to our city... The first disc starts off with Ruede Hagelstein and Naneci, nice and moody and sets the tone...the sun has set & the night has creeped in! Next up is Santé featuring Meggy, with "Rescue Me" laying it down with a deep bassline and mesmerizing vocal. Nico's "Wicked Games", brings deep, lightly touched basslines with an almost ghostlike vocal. 2010's newcomer to the label, Re.You, hands over a thick & chunky bass-driven number - with a sick hook that will surely fire up the floor. 'I am ready...' a catchy hook by &Me, deep & sultry, with just a touch of soul - stretching back into old school for its vocal undertones. Tiefschwarz, comes in to tie the release together nicely with 'Stuck in My Head' a track that brings in a vocal workings of 'Jaw' - its sexual and stings... in a good way. Adam Port delivers with an absolute banger, perfect for dancefloor action, underpinned with a touch of soul-stroked vocals...crispy, in that Adam Port style. A total standout tune by Ahmet Sisman, "After Rain Comes Sun," with a title that says it all... searching for a dose of club warmth. Further into the tracklist, ONNO shakes it up with a rhythmic, pulsating, deep-dark-jungle-tech-influenced number. The first disc also features the works of Rampa, Maher Daniel, Sebbo & Denis Goekdag, and Amir...all beautifully twisted together, with their own colorful hues. The second disc is a mix by Tiefschwarz, featuring hand-selected, creme de la creme of past releases on the label. Sit back, and enjoy! Berlin, home of the Souvenir imprint, is a city that never sleeps - it marches on, come rain or snow, steady like a seasoned party professional. This release is a nice snapshot into the mood of the people, of the artists who live here, and the driving force that keeps them bouncing.
