The highly talented Piet van Dongen opens up the fest. After three songs on his 12" "Hate To Say O.K.", (released on Audiomatique in April) here's a new track. "Short Term Satisfaction" kicks off with a rather sparse instrumentation, but soon builds up with interesting string sounds which seem to battle against one another. But the slightly dissonant chords work perfectly on a dry rhythmic construction, adding to the dark atmosphere of the track. Seductive! Next up is another dutch producer. Darko Esser already released tracks on Veto, Flux, Fingers Ltd. and Wolfskuil and is responsible for bookings in the famous Doornroosje club in Neijmegen. "Tri-Band" features his new track "Gold-digger" with a punching kick-drum and nicely floating synths, cascading in an almost trance-like mode. Brian Aneurysm completes the troika. He's been producing for more than ten years. Born in Vienna, he moved to Texas in the late nineties where he experienced different kinds of electronic music. More recently he teamed up with producers like Maetrik or Lega to explore electro and tech-style music. He can look back on releases on labels like Immigrant, Substatic, Ware, Onitor and Poker Flat and of course on his own label, Iron Box. His new track "Wrong" perfectly rounds off the "Tri-Band" with a driving beat and a fragile melody and some great tweaking chords in the middle.

Mr Tejada all-time-classic the clickety, euphoric Mono on Mono gets a competent make-over by some of electronic world's most unique sound-surgeons PLAID and POLE. first up is the most adventurous duo of Warp darlings PLAID who throw down a wiggling kinda broken electric-boogie beat paired with a tender main melody that has a sound between steeldrums and a childrens musical box before we're lead into a more improvisitional part that reminds of a electronically alienated muted french horn. so much more advanced than most of the stuff we get bombarbed with on a weekly basis yet irresistibly charming, sweet yet darn funky - classic PLAID. rather known as breeder of abstract, irregular rhythms reduced to the max POLE catches us off-guard with a clever 4/4 dance interpretation. it still has his trademark crackling sounds and a affinity to classic dub technics with it's heavy, stoically pounding bassline dropping in and out of the mix yet manages in a "finale furioso" with just cranking up the volume of one mad, spinet-like loop towards the end to set a primary rave signal driving a dancing crowd nuts. another radiant facet to John Tejada's Palette.

Minimalism in today‘s music is quite a tricky thing. The visionary restriction to the essence, to the hypnotic nudity of the beat‘s essence, can still sharpen the senses in the year 2006... or, in the worst case, debases music to the abstraction of aural mathematics. Nobody is so aware of this as Gudio Schneider. „I want to send my listeners on a journey based on hypnotic grooves, but I like to break through the flow of sound with irritating details“, says Guido. Born and raised in Celle (Germany) Guido moved to Berlin in 1996, and since his first releases Guido stands for the cultivation of reduction in a musical area that we tend to describe as Tech-House. Until 1999 he has been active on his own label „Neue Welten“. As one half of the duo „Glowing Glisses“ (released their album „Silver Surfer“ 2003) and with four solo-12“es on Poker Flat, Guido became a firm artist on Steve Bug‘s label. In addition he convinced together with André Galluizzi on a track for Jay Haze‘s Tuning Spork label. Amongst remixes for Brtschitsch/ Galuzzi, Daniel Stefanik and Steve Bug for the Poker Flat 50 release he contributed a number of tracks to Richie Hawtin‘s DE9-Compilation projectNow it‘s been high time for Guido Schneider and Poker Flat to take their relation to the next level with a full artist album. Last but not least „Focus On“ presents an exciting new album-concept on Poker Flat. Alongside six new tracks, which will be released simultaneously on vinyl, the album features a number of released tracks and remixes which now appear on CD for the first time. On the CD-format Guido mixes the tracks into a 67 minute subtle flow that almost completely dissolves the borders of the individual tracks.„Focus On“ features trippy vocal-hypnoses with ping-pong-percussions („Too Many Voices“) alongside streamlined pumping House-sketches („Re-Moved“), flangercurves reminiscent of the Plastikman releases („Rumours“) and spoiled Dub (Brtschitsch & Galluzzi / „Regenschauer Remix“) all edited and mixed together into a psychoactive extraordinary soundcocktail of the first quality grade.At least minimal House rarely sounded so impulsive and funky with such a perfekt sound-architecture. Whirring and intensive, exciting new and consequent down to the detail, „Focus On: Gudio Schneider“ is the blueprint for the sound of the summer of 2006!
