This 4 tracker release keeps the floor pressure in a more noisy direction than usually on Circus Company. Here you’ll get a mixed blend of everything funky and raw. A1 “Elefonk” is groovy and nervous, brings the funk in the techno dimension, with its mighty electro-brass band, smooth basslines and catchy rythm. In the A2 “Please mum”, Le K gives us a furious lesson of dancefloor with this freaky twisted punk-funk techhouse track, using a assortment of truncated vocal samples, glitchy space groove synthlines, and heavy basslines. Becareful, psychedelic rise at 3:20 ! B-side follows this freaky groove line, “Westernoïd” made-up the madbreakroboticsalsahouse, spliced up guitars, disturbed electronic basslines and crazy organ on an indomitable housy drum sequence. Cute is back! Mo’s Ferry’s sublabel fenou returns after a one year break with a new limited 10“ vinyl edition. The first releases (almost out of stock) realize collector’s price and show a path to a universe of experimental, minimal pop.Dapayk’s „dehalledretro“ is probably known as part of his liveset. The calm and reduced, but groovy track emerged from a bunch of loops he’s playing with during his performances. It’s a proof that shows: minimal is not always made of clean, sterile sounds and dry wood-like tones. Dredl Kibosh’s flipside „i found you“ is spinning around broken beats and intelligent grooves, beyond the klikkaklakka standards. It’s a link between four-to-the-floor and downtempo-breakbeat... very soulful.

Following hot on the heels of strong, idiosyncratic releases from Raz Ohara and Einzelkind, Plan K's Thunder EP is the latest offering from Get Physical's experimental sister imprint, Kindisch. Plan K is Umberto Saba and David Love Calo, friends who learned the art of DJing in Italian clubs like Cocorico in Rimini and Firenze's Tenax during the 1990s. While David continued to DJ and produce tunes for Plastic Records, Umberto was busy mastering the saxophone at the Italian Jazz Academy and discovering synthesized and computer music. They came together in 2006 as Loudtone to produce two dubby disco singles for Mantra Vibes, which were supported by DJs as diverse as Timo Maas, Shit Robot, Alex Neri, Greg Wilson and Rune Lindbaek. The Thunder EP is their first release as Plan K. EP opener 'Thunder' blossoms from an abstract schaffel intro into trippy, organic boogie - a gritty analogue bassline provides the funk, while trippy effects and cut-up vocal samples cluster around the shrugging beat. This is heavy, heady summer music, as ideal for lounging in the sunshine as it is for getting down in the club or skanking down the street. A2 'No Inspiration' is, despite its title, very much inspired: live sounding drums, artfully deployed synths and horn stabs make this 21st century disco with real purpose and drive. The track concludes with a long, killer drum break that makes this an essential addition to the box for DJs of all persuasions. For 'King of Trans', Plan K take a completely different approach: driven by a Can or Neu!-like motorik drumbeat and insistent one-note bassline, unlike 'No Inspiration', this track does live up to its title, trapping the listener in its tight, edgy groove and refusing to let go. The EP closes with 'Bid for Freedom', another crackling broadcast of retro-futurist dancefloor funk. Sample brass, techy edits and cyclical italo-style synth motifs move the mind as well as the feet, as Plan K effortlessly collapse past, present and future into a low-slung 4z4 strut. Once again Kindisch proves its commitment to releasing off-kilter, original dance music that doesn't conform to traditional genre boundaries or stylistic limitations. Expect ever bigger things from Plan K in the future.
