They’re young and tough – and especially wonderful too – easily one of the most compelling harmony soul groups to ever hail from the Windy City! The set’s a Chicago soul gem from the early 70s – recorded with a laidback, slightly tripped-out vibe that’s different than the tighter styles of other groups from the same scene – definitely righteous at points, with some of the superbad modes you might hear from an east coast lineup like The Delfonics or Soul Generation, especially when they were trying to get a bit more conscious in their message. Arrangements are great – handled by Tom Tom Washington, Eugene Record, and Cliff Davis – very much at the best Brunswick mode, but again with a deeper sort of vibe too. The title cut’s a monster, and a very fitting follow-up to their earlier “Sly, Slick, & Wicked” track – and the album features 2 versions (vocal and instrumental) of a cut called “This Is The Lost Generation”, a very righteous soul groove with a heavy production tip. Re mastered and re released for 2015 in conjunction with Brunswick. Too legit to quit.

Marijata was a group made up of three members – Kofi 'Electric' Addison on drums, Bob Fischlan on organ and Nat Osmanu on guitar, hailing from Ghana. ‘This Is Marijata’ is the groups first LP; released originally on the Gapophone label – it is pure, rootsy, raw, driving African funk music of the highest order, now highly sought-after in both its original and previously reissued forms.

Transmigration celebrates the 20th release milestone with a repress of Coil's The Snow EP. Released as a promotional single for the 1991 album Love's Secret Domain, it marks the influential groups closest brush with the dance floor. Featuring a set of remixes from Peter Christopherson, Jack Dangers and an early collaboration with Drew McDowall prior to joining the group.

The legendary Clarence Reid has long been a towering figure over Black music for almost 50 years! Even if you're not instantly familiar with his name you have %100 heard some of the man's music... he's produced, played for, written for & performed with endless amounts of legendary artists in his career, he is simply put, a legend. Hand picked from TK Disco's vaults, this 1973 LP was released on TK's sister label Alston & features Reid's own unique brand of music from start to finish. Often sampled & edited by many contemporary DJ's & producers, the sounds on this obscure LP are timeless, if you dig deep Soul Funk or R&B & you're not down with Clarence this is the perfect place to start (& obviously the Blowfly LP's too, but that's a whole other story!). "Like Running Water" is a bit of a rarity these days so it's about time the LP got a %100 legit re-issue, re-mastered & re-released with the original Alston artwork & labels it's great to see it back on the shelves! Don't believe what you read or hear, this re-issue has been done with Joe Stone / TK Disco's total co-operation, bringing some Soul back into your lives for 2015...

It's hard to believe we are now up to Volume 5 of our renowned Record Club series. Curating these compilations, where we share our latest musical discoveries and old favourites from the global stage, is always a labour of love.

This selection is less dancefloor-driven than our previous volumes, as fewer opportunities for live events drove us to explore other paths and styles in the musical spectrum. But, whether you're DJing for a kitchen or a club, there is still a generous serving of spicy dancefloor magic.

For Volume 5, we looked to a broad church - from Brazil to Cuba, Ghana, Jamaica, Japan, Mauritania, South Africa, Sweden, Trinidad and Tobago, the UK, and the US. We pulled songs from the 70s up to the present day and feature a stellar cast of artists.

There’s an exclusive track from Sven Wunder which was recorded solely for this compilation. We also have a track from Admin which was released as a private press 7" at the start of 2021 and one we felt was far too good to only be available for the lucky few. You’ll also discover one of our most treasured Gyedu Blay Ambolley productions, a full-force African disco colossus!

We hope you will enjoy this selection of seventeen eclectic songs as much as we do.
