The Belgian party organisation and record label De:tuned mark their 10th anniversary with the first outing of their 10 x 12'' series. 'DE:10.01' kicks off with a special treat from the 90s golden era: on offer a welcome combination of previously unreleased DAT material by Kirk Degiorgio and expertly affectionate As One remix treatments of both original Sensurreal and Jedi Knights (Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton) work, pure bliss.
The artwork of the first 9 collectable releases of the series forms a 3 x 3 poster display. De:tuned have called on designer Kevin Foakes (Openmind, DJ Food, Ninja Tune) to create all graphic work.
This kickstarter for the series is mastered by Matt Colton (Alchemy Mastering) and pressed on 180 gr vinyl. A separate digital version of every release will be available from the usual digital shops. Stay tuned!

One of the key players in the development of electronic music scene Dan Curtin, joins Blumoog for another fine project. With over 70 singles and 9 LP’s to his name Dan brings all his valuable experience into this number by chipping in 3 tracks out of 4. A1 Pay to win, is an intricate, driving and bass heavy techno floater with a refreshing feel to it and with a couple of suspenseful breaks. M.R.E.U.X loved Pay to win and did a superb job remixing it on A2, a darker and more sequential approach redefine this tune but maintaining the heavy bass line. B1 District Omega is a percussive and uplifting 6 minute of upbeat house with crafty voice inserts. B2 ends this ep with a lovely jacking and jazzy house bomb with some virtuoso solos that will make you go wow! Dan certainly knows how to tweak those knobs. All the hard work is paying off for M.R.E.U.X with his Blumoog concept by releasing material that defines the musical evolution and contribution of techno veterans. Excellent work Dan and M.R.E.U.X! With no need for further introduction, the legendary Cleveland and now Berlin based producer Dan Curtin lands on Fabio Della Torre’s Tuscan label Bosconi with 2 previously unreleased gems from his 90’s DAT archive. The release is further enriched by Curtin's very first live rework of one of the tunes. After Releasing on such labels as Headspace, 7th Sign, and Sublime and with the recent repress of his historic Silicon Dawn album on Peacefrog including the supremely modern Population 2, here comes the previously unreleased Population III which moves even more forward into the outer realms of space and time. On the long side the farsighted and futuristic Metamorphic label boss delivers this marvelous continuation of the previous version taking it more into straight forward techno and even further into deep minded synth experimentation and acid bleeping. On the Flip we have a modern live rework of Population III which Dan has been playing around the world in his current live set. The live version goes a bit more into electroid landscapes but still maintains a straight groove for electro and techno purists most playful moments. The third cut is the epic acid banger and previously unreleased Redshift, showing already at those times that Dan Curtin was defying conventions and pushing boundaries and pioneering what we can now consider modern dance music while displaying melting innovation and deeply felt emotional content at the same time.

Delsin's first reissue album of 2019 is the album 'Repeats', an important techno and IDM record from collaborative outfit Repeat, which originally landed on A13 in 1995. Nineties collective Repeat started out as Mark Broom, Andy Turner and Ed Handley, with Dave Hill joining in later on. Ed and Andy, of course, also recording as Plaid and also still members of Black Dog Productions, with whom they recorded albums closely before and after this one. The result is a hard to categorise album that breaks all the rules and draws on IDM, techno, ambient, house and electro to make for nine tracks of atmospheric analogue music that still sounds fresh and in a world of its own.

Emotional Rescue is delighted to offer this compilation of music from Elaine Kibaro and her particular coalesce of chanson, folk, balearic and touch of disco, all encased in her strong French and North African roots. The music included here, released between 1979 to 1989, is an expression of her development, of music changes matching growth in life, conveyed through her emotions in song. Opening with the spoken word Introduction from her debut album, "Mirrors" and the folk rock of melodies of Le Reveil from the 1981 follow up, Au Soleil, her early works are characterised by band, orchestra and choirs complimenting her voice as one. This is further heard on the mystical Sorciere, psyche percussion of Secret, the marching Le Guerrier and the inclusion her first "hit" with Aurore, appearing her in all it's extended, off-kilter guitar meets organ form. Exploring sensitivity and desires the compilation matches these earlier folk and world inspired songs with her move towards electronic production that accompanied a return some 4 years later, adding balearic and even pop dance found on 1985's Le Long De Fleuve Amour and the following 1989 opus, in Kiroel. L'Amour Pour Bouclier and Ne Doute Pas lift her music higher towards lovers' heights, with word, melody, and rhythm giving the desire to dance and be free, while her continuing exploration of chanson and spoken word takes on new meanings via the new wave meets estoric Douleur, while the emotionally charged soundscape of Kiroel brings balance. Inspired by the purity of song, Kibaro's music's has a timeless essence to behold; a voice and words found through life experience - beauty, discovery, nature and dreams. A love and hope in music, her quest for the infinite potential in song.

Norwegian artist Tarjei Nygård first touched upon the ESP Institute spectrum in 2016 with a limited-edition red flexidisc of 'Bleusa', which accompanied issue 21 of New York City’s acclaimed Love Injection fanzine. Since then, his poetic offerings have been a staple in our arsenal (especially during Summer), for their ability to effectively dictate mood is second to none. Across the four tracks on this debut EP, Tarjei paints quite viscerally using the fundamental tools of melodic and rhythmic hooks, and while that may sound obvious on paper, its this deliberate approach to songwriting that brings his productions to life. 'Bleusa' is literally dripping with fantasy and adventure — island pads, golden bent notes, even a cameo bird-call from the infamous Acid House loon — yet Tarjei exhibits a mature level of restraint, a highly sophisticated sleaze thats recognizable to refined pleasure-seekers. 'Forus Echo' furthers this notion but expands into full-blown rapids of ecstasy, coasting over soft-thumping percussion that mimics the human heart while smothering the listener with concentric waves of synth feedback. On Side B, Tarjei shifts to a strong rhythm dynamic — the demented 'Lost In Lindos' is an aquatic breakbeat thats both deep and buoyant, a malleable tool that works at any BPM — not specifying particular references but skirting the ballpark of early turntablism. 'Øylie' closes the EP with a familiar ESP prescription; we lie on our backs, finger-painting in the opium smoke above, feeling the warm embrace of collective consciousness while telepathically harmonizing plans for our utopian future.

Celestial electronics are always at the heart of James Welsh’s music, via a number releases for labels such as Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound, Wolf Music and Hypercolour. “Hammers” is Welsh’s second release for Futureboogie (following 2013’s “Craven” EP), and finds the UK based producer on particular fine form. With its airy pads and shrouded ambience, “Hammers” drives a 303 bass line right through its centre, perfectly balancing the tracks emotive and darker sides. Hodge (Livity Sound/Hemlock) comes on board with an industrial sized remix, carving out some heavyweight tribal drums and additional percussion and letting the acid do its tweakable thing. “Denergy” meanwhile channels some electro tinged bassline moves over super funky, tight drums, a flourishing acid line, and laced with the futurism and sound aesthetics that’s keeping James Welsh at the top of his game.

Format returns with another 4-track slice of techno from the label's founder, Juan Sanchez, including a remix by lauded US producer Mike Parker.
The EP opens with Qx02, a jacking techno track built on gritty synth swirls and an acidy pulse. Following up, Mike delivers a much darker rework with a menacing kick drum as its engine. The EP's title track Dans Ta Tete pumps up the tempo, delivering a fast-paced synth-driven stomper. Things close off with Plural, on which Juan explores the more dubbier sides of techno across lush and warm ambient chords.
FR015 is another prime example of Format's signature techno sound that's successfully finding its way to the floors.

Pete 'Bassman' Bain, one of the founding members of the UK cult psych rock band Spacemen 3, formed Alpha Stone after Spacemen 3 and his other band The Darkside split up in the mid-nineties. In 1996 the band recorded the album 'Stereophonic Pop Art Music' and it was released on Bomp! Records on Compact Disc. The album hasn't had a 'proper' vinyl release until now, 2018, when Hoga Nord Rekords continues their collaboration with Pete Bassman by releasing the album.
You can clearly hear that Pete Bassman was the driving force behind Alpha Stone; fuzz, synthesiser -sweeps, programmed drums and processed vocals are the cornerstones in Alpha Stone's sound. Raga-like mantras, heard in Farmer C, lies track to track with more percussion driven grooves and psychedelic pop oriented songs. The album's sound has obviously survived the 20+ years shelved in obscurity and proves the 'Drugby' sound still vital!
It's always hard to sum up a bands particular sound in a few words, but you could say that if you put guitar and bass, synthesisers, a drum machine, and Julian Copes record collection in the hands of an alien, you've got Alpha Stone!

Sinnamon’s ’83 NYC boogie scorcher ‘I Need You Now’ gets the official remastered, reissue treatment - complete with the ‘Fierce Reprise’ dub mix alongside the accapella, providing essential sampling material.
Marrying the old with the new, ‘I Need You Now’ is drenched in funk bass slickness and colourful chords, yet embraces a wealth of synthesized sounds from electro sequencers to synth-based strings, giving it that early ‘80s post disco, boogie feel. Bernard Fowler of Peech Boys fame steps up on guest vocals bringing a deep, R&B tone to proceedings, complimented by the all-female vocal prowess of Sinnamon adding their trademark feminine touch to the track.
First up on the flip side, the six minute ‘Fierce Reprise’ mix. Reversed rides that suck back into the skull, tape delayed vocals and spacey synth echoes blend together, as elements are overlaid and dubbed out for maximum, heavyweight, proto house vibrations.
Last up, a favourite and much used vocal accapella that’s been sampled by a whole host of early house, hardcore and garage producers from 808 State and Criminal House to Ray Keith and Paul Johnson.
An essential bit of kit for anyone with a penchant for that early ‘80s boogie flavour.

Vinicius Honorio doesn't do anything by halves. Part one of this new remix pack from his own Liberta Records features works from Roberto Clementi, Alex Bau, Hemka, Fiedel on vinyl and digital, plus two digital only tracks from an in-form Billy Turner and LATHE only goes to prove that sometimes, bigger is better.
Featuring tracks from his hotly-tipped new imprint, the Drumcode regular has reached out to a bevy of talent to reinterpret his original ideas. And what a talent pool it is! Opening the EP is Alex Bau's sparse repaint of "Heartbeat". Stripping back everything, he creates a groove so organic and rich it almost takes on a life of its own. Next up, Hemka employs some French flair to her revision of "Nightfall". Clattering synths intermix with percussive power to unleash a solid main room peak-time monster.
With Soma, Hypercolour, Echocord and more under his belt, Italian DJ and live artist, Roberto Clementi is something of a rock star in Techno circles and his trademark hypnotic style is well suited to "Catch 22". Overdriven drums and dub effects a-plenty drive this track towards that inevitable 5am freak out. Rounding out the vinyl portion of the release, Ostgut Ton regular, Feidel steps up with immense low-end fury on "Before My Eyes". Dystopian, cinematic and utterly spellbinding, his remix is as equally terrifying as it is captivating.

Brainchild of Multi Culti A&R, Sascha Funke and Niklas Wandt were introduced by Dreems, who charted a course for the seasoned Berlin-based producer and funky multi-percussionist and singer.

Wandt was just about to enter the scene forcefully with his collaborative 2LP with Wolf Müller and the debut single of his band Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge. In the icey cold of his warehouse rehearsal space, Funke had him record a variety of slapped, bowed and scratched percussions (congas, talking drum, prepared cymbals played with a bass bow) over his tracks. These first efforts were later expanded into joint sessions at Sascha's home studio and, within a few weeks, the journey reached it’s destination: Wibe strasse, Deutschland.

At first glance, they seem an odd couple: a techno veteran of almost thirty years meets a side-burned upstart socialized in Free Jazz and Krautrock. but the shared sonic influences come through in the hypnotic, dubbed-out sound, perhaps rooted in the close connection the two share to the Rheinland region in West Germany, Funke as part of the Kompakt family and Wandt by origin and socialization in the Cologne and Düsseldorf music scene centered around the Salon des Amateurs. Regional flavours, global appeal.

First opus of the new series is La Batterie, by the UK’s Richard Podolor and Sandy Nelson in 1983 in the hypnotic shimmering disco of “Let There Be Drums.” The music of Polodor and Nelson is being given new life by Kalahari Oyster Cult. Alongside the entrancing original are two remixes. First up is Australia via Amsterdam’s very own Max Abysmal with his “Spooky Remix.” Adopting and adapting the raw energy of the ’83 version, Abysmal layers ghostly notes and spectral snares into his mechanical remake. The flip takes on a different slant with “Shotgun” taken from the EP of twenty fives years ago. A super slick work of understated funk shot through with bold keys and powerful chants to show another side of the UK pair. The fiercely talented Benedikt Frey closes, turning his daringly able hand to “Let There Be Drums.” He keeps the vocal line, the rest of his rework is dipped in a thick heart of darkness threat. Pulsing thumps, menacing notes and danger lurk in this jungle of Frey’s own making.

Late Of The Pier announce a special 10th anniversary edition of their cult debut album ‘Fantasy Black Channel’, produced by Erol Alkan and released in 2008 to great acclaim. Fittingly, the reissue will be released on a limited lenticular edition of 500, alongside a standard edition both with heavyweight vinyl. Both reissues are accompanied by a digital companion album of unreleased demos and outtakes from the album recording sessions – set for release through Alkan’s Phantasy Sound label, landing in stores on 18th January 2019. LOTP (Sam Eastgate, Andrew Faley, Ross Dawson and Sam Potter) were a band of inter-dimensional musicians who landed in the late noughts, whose wild journey took them from the quiet North West Leicestershire countryside to the stages of Coachella, Tokyo and beyond, touring with the likes of Soulwax and Justice. Their music was a mutant take on pop that described the chaos of being a teenager by looking forwards and backwards over and over again until the present moment started to make sense. Following the release of Fantasy Black Channel they put out singles ‘Blueberry’ and ‘Best In The Class’ in 2010, picking up fans from Mike Skinner to Dave Grohl along the way. Talking in a 2014 interview, Grohl exclaimed, “They blew my fucking mind. They’re called Late of the Pier. They made one record and disappeared. […] They use crazy computers and then they rock and it sounds like dubstep for one minute, then it’s a crazy prog thing, and it’s like, ‘Wow’.”

For its newest record, Public Release soars over the Atlantic and glides into Greece to convene with two brothers from Thessaloniki, Christos and Fotis Papadakis, for Cosmic Swimmer, a gentle, lilting sunbleached house escapade. The 12-inch opens with their soft and cushy original mix of “Cosmic Swimmer”, a charmed layer cake of round, full-bodied hand drums, airy pads, and washed-out vocal harmonies. A breezy, wide-open endless groove that ambles along at a not-too- slow, not-too-fast Goldilocks pace that will easily keep you undulating on the floor or in your head. Another pair of brothers, the Soulwax boys, making a very rare, celebrated appearance here, take the reigns and fill out the arrangement by wrapping it all up in some stone-cathedral euphoric resonance and injecting it with their trademark finger-plucked bass struts. One of their top remixes ever? Perhaps. The hot potato is then passed to New York City’s Kim Ann Foxman for her take, a more urgent and pressed affair that swaps the organic elements for jittery programmed percussion, strobed effects, and brittle synth licks, all the while somehow keeping the dusting of Balearic feel-good presence intact. Finally, Eric “Dr. Dunks” Duncan jumps into the frame with a tough love acid- flecked interpretation that thrusts the record into peak-hour rave territories.

Techno Thriller joins the Unknown Precept fam with a brand new mini-album. The first following the release of their eponymous full-length album a couple of months ago. Based in Brussels, although now relocating themselves in Marseille, France, the four-handed formation has steadily been crafting cybernated Gothic music over the past years. Recorded a few months back while drawing its inspiration from dark dungeons and occult folklore, not without evocative titles, Enfant de Sodome feels as muscular and thrilling as their live performances usually imply. Compelling murky synthpunk and industrial machinery colliding in fervor and howls. Free falling tumultuous bass lines lacerated by ominous muffled groans. Bone-bending primitive techno music catapulted over the walls in the most urgent fashion. At the end, it very much feels like trying to dance on some sort of cryptic electronic body music in a heavy chain-mail.

Returning to a brief but very fruitful period in electronic music production, Shelved Recordings exists to look back to the golden age of the remix, with a clear view of the future it imagined.
Artists who were steered towards maverick producers, with a view to changing the rules, to re-defining the terms of what modern music should and could be.
Pioneering techniques, over-dubs and an exploratory period of pop production, resulted in many lost dub versions and mixes. Mixes, which invariably were left on the shelf, deemed too 'out there' by the bosses of the the hedonistic label managers who commissioned them.
Shelved will present a series of limited double 12" releases comprised of carefully reconstructed and rebuilt lost classics from someone who was there the first time around !

Fresh out of the gate and excitedly chomping at the heels of two very welcome EPs from The Cyclist and Whitesquare, the third release from experienced Italian party series turned label Tropical Animals comes from a much loved Italian export, DJ Octopus. The Venice-based producer delivers the “Glue Monday” EP, a quadrumvirate of pulsating boppers, encompassing hints of retro-futurism, tense breaks and unstoppable grooves.
Tropical Animals have been bringing the party to Tuscany since 2010 with guests that have included Luca Lozano, Interstellar Funk, Avalon Emerson or Ross From Friends. The formation of the label felt like a natural next step. DJ Octopus has been a regular guest at a party for a good few years now so it’s no surprise to see him appear on the label, still hot from his well regarded releases on Hot Haus, Chiwax, Shall Not Fade and Metal Position Records.
“Glue Monday Part 1” and “Part 2” epitomize 80s reverence, with thick, satisfying kicks driving the tracks forward, passing through a landscape of retro synths, New Order vintage era basslines and skittish percussion. “Mechanical Action” lives up to its name, delivering on a theme of straight-faced steel and wide open spaces. Closing the EP, “Calypso Signal” brings some seriously dirty funk to the table; it’s the wildcard DJs will be reaching out to to rescue unmovable dancefloors.

Tropical Disco plucks out a spellbinding salvo of heaters for Tropical Disco Volume. 7, dished out on suitably heavy wax.
Moodeena’s “The Horns” boldly kicks off the record, effortlessly weaving together elements of funk, soul and afro, influenced by a myriad of far-reaching regions. The earworm of a bassline subtly leads the piece, morphing, dipping and then reassembling as the brass resurfaces, creating a tender, palpable sound palette. On the flip “What Da Funk”s playful track title doesn’t reflect its cultivated build, and no doubt lethal functionality on a dancefloor.
Titillating strings are the driving force for Tropical Disco newcomer Sammy Deuce’s input, bringing a burning, high-energy ode to golden-era disco with “Smack My Strings Up”. Hot on the heels of a series of well received releases on labels such as Glasgow Underground, Club Session and Big Love, Sammy deuce offers up a rare guest track on the label that pairs perfectly with a recipe Sartorial and Moodena have refined so successfully.
Sartorial closes the EP with “Little Love”, a carefully plotted symphony and formidable sign off for the release. Hustling a creamy bass and slowly swooning vocal, this audio aphrodisiac will have dancers headed straight to the bedroom…
Tropical Disco’s back-catalogue of quality nu-disco obscurities is building thick and fast, and the latest package is a diamond in a gleaming gold mine.

2019 marks the return of Austrian electro duo Microthol with the project's first EP since 2011. Don't be fooled by its unassuming title: 'Transmissions' is the culmination of years of sonic research. From techno-esque opener 'Hostile Invasion' to 'Transmission 0608's soundtrack of a burning space ship spiralling out of control - 'Transmissions' is much the sonic equivalent of a wormhole linking the aural orbits of Ultradyne and Autechre.
