Second LP from French electronic talent Thylacine
Regardless of whether or not the thylacine, a species of marsupial with a tiger-striped back, still lives
in Tasmania or not, it is in Argentina that this young star of the French electro scene decided to
record his second album. To create a follow up to Transsiberian, his brilliant first album that he
recorded in 2015 aboard the train that links Moscow to Vladivostok, William Rezé, aka Thylacine,
bought a 1972 trailer, one of the famous all-aluminum Airstreams.
After painstakingly transforming the trailer into a recording studio, he put his beautiful American on
a freighter across the Atlantic and got it back a month later in Buenos Aires.
He was drawn to South America by the pull of the unknown, the absolute absence of reference. He
wanted to immerse himself in desert and lunar landscapes, explore multicolored canyons, sand
dunes, giant cacti forests, snow-capped peaks... and write, alone, in the intimacy of his nomadic
studio.
After making stops in the middle of nowhere, he returned with ten tracks that marvelously combine
Moderat's aerial melodies, the solar touch of Nicola Cruz, and the techno power of Paul Kalkbrenner.
His electronica is often laden with saxophone—his instrument of choice, which he started playing at
the age of 6 at a conservatory—and features vocals from Julia Minkin (of Kid Francescoli), Clara
Trucco (a member of the trio Femina), and Juana Molina, "considered the Argentinian Björk," says
Thylacine.
Mission accomplished: the young Angevin's vaporous layers are tinged with charango, a local
instrument, and melodies inspired by traditional Argentinian songs. "I wanted to go back to a music
with a more acoustic sound."
And the tracks follow one another, telling the story of his extraordinary odyssey: the hypnotizing “The
Road” expresses the miles of road traveled; the captivating tale of “Santa Barbara” evokes the close
ties between inhabitants of a tiny village in the Andes; and the rhythm of “4500 m,” cut by the flow of
the American rapper J. Medeiros, recalls the high desert where Thylacine once had to sleep, forced to
stop for the night by storms of a rare intensity.
Three months and ten thousand kilometers later, this "concept album" is ready; it's called Roads vol.
1, and it’s the first installment of a collection that the 26-year-old Thylacine expects to add to as he
continues his travels. His itinerant studio, ingeniously equipped with solar panels, will take him,
hopefully, very far.

Planet E present the Michele Chiavarini and DJ Steve Crawford remixes of 'Just Like Muzik' and 'The Sabath' taken from Terrence Parker's 2017 album 'GOD Loves Detroit'. The three-track remix EP is due for release March 8th.

Handpicked by Terrence Parker himself, both remixers offer fresh takes on two of the standout tracks of the original LP.

For the first and last track of the EP Michele Chiavarini reworks 'Just Like Muzik', with a bass lick which dances in and out of shuffling hats, channelling the high energy of the original house patterns and stabs into something different. Soulful pad progressions merge with Merachka's original vocal, before energetic strings and vibraphone solo take over, carrying the listener along.

DJ Steve Crawford's remix of 'The Sabath' sees him transpose the arpeggiated synth rhythm and pads of the original into a fresh grooving 4/4 affair. Congas and punching kicks meet with harmonious string melody and slapped bass, creating a head-nodding reimagining of the master.

April 2017, Osaka, Sakura, the beautiful time of the cherry blossom. We quickly get a warm coffee from the drinks vendor down the street, then off to Kabamix' LMD studio downtown. Time is short, the off-days are counted on tour. As the year before at the SVS label camp in Budapest, we stick to the plan: one track a day.
This time we have guests! Marimari, Arihirua and Ryoko epitomize the perfect antipodes to the lonesome samurai on his white horse (Shiroi Uma) we had in mind on our first EP (SVS010).
Everything flows, everything is improvised, the music itself is the place where we meet, no much talking about what´s happening, we just carry on doing the thing. The studio of Kabamix, longtime soundengineer of Haruomi Hosono, has built up over many years, it´s a hoard of like-minded people.

Gekko No Odoriko translates to 'Moonshine Dancer'. The rhythm, as usual a driving force in our music, is converting every listener unwillingly into a squirrelly moving dancer. Heavy, yes, bassy, yes, yet never isolated drums build the foundation of the beatgrid as well as the arrangement. With an ascending condensation of musical events, the track enfolds it´s physical energy vertically and horizontally. And just as the spacey synth enters the track, Mari Mari has entered the studio, a Korg Prophecy under her arm, straight into the recording cabin, recording 'it'. Vocals by Ryoko aka Mt.Chills and us happy bunch.
Holy Water: Visiting the holy mountain near Nara national park, the impossible seemed so simple: capturing water. An old man mumbling on the floor next to the entrance, little volvic bottles making their rounds to this special zone, bamboo growing high all over the place, deers walking close by as if there was no distinction between us living beings.
Amanogawa, 'Milky Way', extrudes the blink of an eye to an endless state of floating in a field of zero gravity while scenes from the inner self are gushing by. Arihirua's voice guides us into an unsung realm where our thoughts get absorbed between the micro and macro of space.
With Ortho Vision the last sprout of zest for action is moving along the handrail of the beatgrid until it’s complete evanescence. All Percussion is played by drumwizzard Gabriel Hahn, Berlin.

Ambient/Traditional Flute Music from Japanese Shakuhachi Master Teruhisa Fukuda


The shakuhachi is an end-blown bamboo flute with one dorsal and four frontal holes and a bevelled notch as mouthpiece. There are two elements in the name of the instrument: shaku refers to an ancient measurement which is the equivalent of 30,3 cm; hachi means eight. Originally shakuhachi thus refers to a flute that measures 1,8 shaku, that is, 54,5 cm.

For this CD, 2LP Master Fukuda chose a series of seven pieces from a repertoire dating back to the seventeenth century. These were originally performed by monks belonging to the Fuke sect of zenBuddhism, who viewed their instrument as means for meditation. The seven pieces are destined to be played solo, in the spirit of zen.

Born in 1949, Teruhisa Fukuda is an eminent artist who has explored a vast range of musical techniques from, both, traditional and contemporary music.

Originally released in 1981 as a limited vinyl pressing of 300 copies on Agi Yuzuru’s fabled experimental label Vanity Records (R.N.A. Organism, Dada, Sympathy Nervous, Tolerance…), Lady Maid is a testament to the creativity of the early 80s’ Japanese electronic and experimental scene, encapsulating a prolific era when audio gear became affordable for musicians to explore sounds in the comfort of their home, free from studio time pressure and major label rules.

Entirely imagined and brought to life by an inspired Yukio Fujimoto, the 6-track opus was conceived with a Korg MS-20, a Korg SQ-10, a Boss Dr. Rhythm DR-55, and…a Texas Instruments Speak & Spell! It’s elegantly minimalist, honest and witty, very playful, cleverly pop, and downright fascinating. The a-side captures the fun side of avant-garde electronica, lo-fi wave, proto-glitch, and IDM, a joyful ride beautifully interrupted by the cinematic mood switch of the b-side - a 20 minute ambient piece flirting with sci-fi, melancholy, and hints of metallic darkness. Unclassifiable and marvelous!

Organism, Dada, Sympathy Nervous, Tolerance…), Lady Maid is a testament to the creativity of the early 80s’ Japanese electronic and experimental scene, encapsulating a prolific era when audio gear became affordable for musicians to explore sounds in the comfort of their home, free from studio time pressure and major label rules.

Entirely imagined and brought to life by an inspired Yukio Fujimoto, the 6-track opus was conceived with a Korg MS-20, a Korg SQ-10, a Boss Dr. Rhythm DR-55, and…a Texas Instruments Speak & Spell! It’s elegantly minimalist, honest and witty, very playful, cleverly pop, and downright fascinating. The a-side captures the fun side of avant-garde electronica, lo-fi wave, proto-glitch, and IDM, a joyful ride beautifully interrupted by the cinematic mood switch of the b-side - a 20 minute ambient piece flirting with sci-fi, melancholy, and hints of metallic darkness. Unclassifiable and marvelous!
