SHORT INFO:
Just when you thought you had Kasper Bjørke figured out he comes back with another great musical surprise. His new album Puzzles, which will be released April 5th on hfn music, follows two recent collaborative EPs on Live at Robert Johnson and Mule Musiq as well as his second Kasper Bjørke Quartet neoclassical/ambient album Mother on Kompakt.
Puzzles is Kasper’s love letter to the sound of early 2000s New York - merged with his Scandinavian sense of producing songs that goes beyond conventional club music; combining disco tinged instrumentations mixed with elements of 80s funk, jazz and contemporary pop songwriting, creating something familiar yet, something very fresh and innovative at the same time.
The album includes collaborations with a wide range of musicians and vocalists. From California based indie-disco troubadour Woolfy (DFA, Rong, Permanent Vacation etc.) to the Icelandic dream-folk trio Systur aka Sísý Ey (who also featured on Kasper’s 2014 single Apart, where the Michael Mayer remix became a timeless club anthem), as well as other longtime collaborators and artist friends: Toby Ernest, Jacob Bellens, WhoMadeWho’s Tomas Høffding on bass, Posh Isolation affiliate Frederik Valentin on guitar and the young, rising jazz star Oilly Wallace on saxophone and flute. Essentially, the majority of Puzzles is played and recorded live, including the drums by Rasmus Littauer (School of X, MØ). Many of the songs emerged from chord progressions written during studio sessions between Kasper and Toby - which Kasper then produced into a colourful and effective album, rooted in an expressive live feeling far from programmed patterns.
Puzzles is a new step for Kasper as a producer and artist, showcasing his ability to move and flow freely between genres and expressions, however still deeply rooted in his love and affection for the classic disco groove - which is only natural after more than two decades as an active DJ.
Another piece has been added to the musical puzzle of Kasper Bjørke

SHORT INFO:
Lisbet Fritze and Louise Foo have shared artistic trajectories for half of their lives, having been two thirds of pop noir purveyors Giana Factory. As Glas, the duo reveals a patchwork of everyday observations rooted in significant life changes: moving countries, becoming a mother, keeping sane with and without a significant other. The music conveys a quest for balance, riding the line between doomy drama and playing it cool.
Their 10 song, self-produced debut, Kisses Like Feathers, will be released, worldwide in March 2023, through Hamburg’s hfn music. All lyrics, vocals and instruments were performed by Glas, and recorded in their studio. The album was mixed by Anders Trentemøller, with artwork by Brunswicker studio
The Copenhagen-based duo have never been short on inspiration. Lisbet has lent her vocal and guitar talents to Trentemøller, in both the studio and on stage. Louise has explored immersive music with avant-pop project SØSTR, along with her sister, Sharin Foo of The Raveonettes. Lisbet’s other life involves architectural design. Louise works with sound installations in a visual arts context. The musical ideas of these two polymaths find coherence in the newly-formed Glas.
Kisses Like Feathers embody Nordic duality. Dark at times, it also presents with an open ethereality. Some songs feel tailor-made for a club’s sound system. Others lend themselves to intimate, headphone moments. While Lisbet and Louise’s harmonious vocal stack is the common thread throughout the album, the musical fabric is interlaced with acoustic, electric, and electronic instruments. Lo-fi piano and acoustic guitars share a reciprocal space with rich, synthetic orchestration. Galloping, modern rhythms and folk arrangements are often featured in the same song. These elements, and so many others, buttress the pair’s hymns.

SHORT INFO:
The composer behind one of the most sensational breakthroughs in Danish music invites you on a crackling, ever-changing and deeply personal journey. His third album Atmospherics drops after a decade in which Mike Sheridan has searched deeply to find and capture his inner sound.
Films, theatres and art museums have benefited from Mike Sheridan‘s sense of sound and melody for the past 10 years. An album has been a long time coming because, in the wake of his breakthrough at the age of 16, he needed to listen extra closely to his inner sounds.
With Atmospherics, he unfolds the music in a meeting between who he once was and who he is today.
Three years ago, he began to create what is now the album Atmospherics. The term refers to electrical disturbances in the atmosphere, such as during a thunderstorm, which can interact with and distort wireless signals. Here, the title refers to both the sound of the album itself, where computer collages, classical instruments crystal clear melodies and heavy rhythms collide, and to the electronic processing and reworking. But really, he thought it would be a quiet release, almost devoid of melodies. Themes and music slide in and out of each other on the album. There are moments of dub, techno, pop and modern compositional music.
There are sounds and beats that crackle, dissolve, replace each other, or connect with each other in new ways.In this way, Atmospherics can be listened to as a long exhalation from an artist who has dared to hold his breath longer than most.
Atmospherics features both Danish and international guests such as Agnes Aldén (a singer, songwriter and producer from Falun, Sweden), Indra Rios-Moore (a singer, songwriter and arranger, from the Lower East Side of Manhattan), BYLJA and Janus Rasmussen - as well as a host of Sheridan‘s regular musicians.
The artwork for Atmospherics is created by visual artist Nicolai Howalt.

SHORT INFO:
Jacob Bellens’ new solo Off My Meds took shape over two turbulent years in Jacob’s life. Several major life events happened back to back in a very short time, and it ended up breaking him down to a point of total exhaustion. The energy needed to uphold the outer self we all need to function was no longer there, and his inner actual beliefs and values began to show themselves one by one, which was not pretty to look at. Change was inevitable, simply because the price of not changing would be much higher in the long term.
The album is a pop-poem about accepting the premise of the life given to you. It is an ode to the perils of modern existence and our birthgiven right to love, laugh and cry, whatever hand we may have been dealt to begin with. Lyrically it is centered around self care and the courage to love someone and be loved in return. About taking responsibility for everything in your life instead of using your life history as an excuse for not living, no matter how tragic or unique your situation might be or seem to yourself.
Musically it draws upon an eclectic mix of influences and genres, while still maintaining a distinct underlying red thread throughout the album. It is a melancholic funk hybrid with a positive DNA, and though it sounds like pop music in the best sense of the word, it doesn’t quite look and feel like pop music. It is rather a collection of sounds and feelings put into words that are deeply personal - but personal for all.

SHORT INFO:
For The Blue Sky is a captivating, visionary and melancholic debut-album written out of the infinite, yet often clouded source of honesty by one of the most interesting new talent from the Nordics.
While the music floats through the sphere of electronic Pop with a distinctive undertone, the lyrics tell the story of a reflective mind treating everyday doubts and large feelings. If you have ever been feeling pressure or doubts related to giving your all and being your best self, chances are that Frum’s honest and courageous texts will resonate with you. Listening to Frum’s silky voice and the atmospheric and light vibes of the album, one can’t help but feel like being part of a movie. Frum aka Jenný Jónsdóttir Kragesteen is an artist from the Faroe Islands, 18 small islands in the North Atlantic. Growing up on these tiny islands, Frum has always had a profound curiosity for the world and space around her. This eventually led her to study a degree in philosophy.

Release Info:
Sprinkles sounds like a utopian postcard - sent from the past and with hopes for the future.
Recorded and produced on his laptop, while spending extensive periods of time in a cabin by the beach in a remote part of Denmark, Kasper Bjørke draws on what currently feels like distant memories; experiences of energy and euphoria from club the countless DJ gigs around the world, during his career which spans over two decades. Rooted in a colorful sound - filled with light and warmth - the balearic vibes and dream house grooves merge with synth choirs, guitars, fretless and acid bass lines and intertwine playfully into a sonic stream of consciousness; a mirage of the past and what will be.
Visual artist Luca Bjørnsten´’s mesmerizing work “Sprinkles”, picturing an empty, lush and colorful garden with a large, romantic fountain perfectly embodies the surreal scenario that we have all become much too familiar with. The 13 track instrumental album follows a string of singles this spring and summer and is as a breath of fresh air and a much needed, warm ray of sunshine.

Release Info:
Lydmor's new album 'Capacity' is a musical maze full of alluring mysteries. At the same time, it is part of a process of liberation, which is about opening oneself up and discovering one's capacity. For her previous album, Lydmor travelled to Shanghai. But on her new album, Lydmor has mostly travelled deep into herself. 'Capacity' is a contrasting musical work where fiction and reality merge into a multifaceted sound universe. It is the electronic pop artist's most personal, complex and conceptual album to date. There is almost a David Lynch'ish cut about 'Capacity'. The album is like a winding maze where it is difficult to decipher what is real and what is an illusion. Like a book with countless narratives. Without conclusions. Ambiguous. Full of alluring mysteries, dreams, reflections and messages about gender, identity, love, guilt and liberation. Rich in contrasts: Black/white. Silence/noise. Weakness/strength. Fiction/reality. Labyrinth/compass.
Multiple media has compared the quirky voice to the likes of Grimes, Kate Bush or Björk but inevitably the comparisons fall short. (Kaltblut Magazine) - With brutal honesty, unbelievable vulnerability and yet dreamy, she sings the soul out in her pulsating electronic pop songs. The soft, bright voice is deceptive. Denmark's "hidden gem" is a must-listen. (Flux FM) - She is every bit as innovative as Madonna ever was when she started out. Lydmor ticks all the boxes; the girl has everything. For my money she’s the most ground-breaking, inventive artist in Europe right now, possibly in the world. (God Is In The TV, UK) - A unique artist who somehow manages to combine sophisticated and subtle balladry with strident electronic pop, I’ve declared previously that I believe she is only one step away from becoming a big name. Perhaps the feelings are supposed to be mutually inclusive, as the song swings musically from simply cold to complexly hot. It is one that does try to combine both sides of her song writing persona, the introverted balladry and the more elaborate, extrovert electro-pop. (Nordic Music Review) - Revolting pop pathos, primed with pumped up beats. (Negative White, Switzerland)

Release Info:
Entitled ‘My Heart Is Hungry And The Days Go By So Quickly’ Danish singer and songwriter Jacob Bellens presents his fifth solo album. Thanks to his unique voice and his talent for heartfelt melodies, over the years Jacob, also known as frontman of I Got You On Tape and Murder, has become one of the most distinctive figures on the Scandinavian music scene. Slightly darker in tone than its predecessors ‘Trail Of Intuition’ (2018) or ‘Polyester Skin’ (2016), the new album lets us see the world through Jacob’s eyes.
Somewhere between left-field pop and a classical singer/songwriter approach, the songs were recorded in two sessions with producer Mads Brinch, drummer Tobias Laust, bass player Jonas Westergaard, keyboardist Malthe Rostrup and guitarist Tobias Fuglsang. “So many good friends and amazing instrumentalists have contributed to the sound“, explained Jacob. “And mostly, people were playing what they felt the song needed, which was an incredibly inspiring way of just letting the process develop naturally, and take on a life of its own.” As such, the recordings give off a distinct light-footed and organic feel. Rich in metaphors, the lyrics deal with personal perceptions based on everyday life occurrences that at the same time hint at the meaning of life in general - or at least suggest a higher perspective. The sonical expression is timeless but also modernistic and the lyrical point of view is refreshingly diverse, never just black or white. The sad songs have uplifting, often surreal qualities, and the lighter, uptempo songs also invite to a certain darkness. A flower basket full of difficult emotions, sprinkled with magical fairy dust that somehow makes everything worthwhile.

Release Info
Comprising producer-engineer Joel Krozer ((Clark (Warp), Smerz (XL Recordings), When Saints Go Machine (Escho)) and Brian Della Valle (singer-songwriter of Of The Valley) the Copenhagen based duo got together when Joel heard Brian recording in the studio below his. Their encounter led to a series of late-night recording sessions, together with collaborator Søren Holme, that quickly became the cornerstone of their partnership and the formation of Fluqx. Monolith is the exceptional debut album of Fluqx and offers state of the art production and highly creative Electronica tracks with that special something. The sound of Fluqx is distinct - a merging of deeply warped synthesizers, swirling textures and Brian’s affecting vocals. There is a versatile range of sounds and atmospheres across these twelve tracks - from the delicate arpeggios of ‘Carvings’ and ‘Ephemeral Objects’, to the massive drum sounds and cutting synth leads of ‘Monolith’ and ‘Hanami’. Della Valle’s warm falsetto navigates through this dynamic landscape with ease and hooks the listener in on tracks like ‘Feather’ and ‘Staring At The Sun’, whilst providing space to breathe on tracks like ‘Here‘ and ‘Golden Hour‘. Elsewhere, ambient, droney textures are at the forefront on ‘Mojave Booth’ and ‘Diamond Dust’, maintaining the dreamy, otherworldly nature of the Fluqx sound.

A new release this winter marks a landmark moment in an important musical story. Way back in little 2009, the label hfn music was born in Hamburg, and made its introduction to the world with the release of the Trentemøller compilation Harbour Boat Trips: 01 Copenhagen.
Founder Tobias Lampe wanted to start a label that was more broad in scope than his previous, more electronic-focused projects, and the compilation provided the perfect opportunity to launch one. In the 10 years since then, the label has survived the whirlpool waters of the early 21st century’s constantly changing music industry, and released everything from pop to art-punk, with artists ranging from New York to the Faroe Islands.
Now, they’re about to put out their 100th release. Fittingly, given the label’s focus on new and innovative music, and the historic aspect of the release, hfn100 sees one of hfn’s best songs of 2019 put into the hands of the man it all started with, Anders Trentemøller. His Danish compatriots Blaue Blume’s new album Bell Of Wool is one of hfn’s standout releases this year, and so hfn100 sees Trentemøller remix one of that record’s standout tracks, the fragile, but soaring “Lovable”.
In Blaue Blume’s original, “Lovable” is an airy, tormented song, a gossamer-delicate composition that carefully stitches together layers and layers of shining synths that gradually build up and up into a peak, before crashing into a subtle beat, a musical journey that mirrors vocalist Jonas Smith’s trip from anguish to numbness. Whereas the original’s music sounds woven together from light, Trentemøller takes it into darker territory. He hooks the song to a harsh, sparse beat leaving Smith’s vocals bare and isolated in the burnt-out, dystopic musical landscape he creates.
Trentemøller mirrors the original’s careful building up, adding new elements to fill in the song’s sound, before it collapses into a tough, noir disco groove. It’s a perfectly realised remix – Trentemøller keeps the original song’s skeleton and soul, but fills in the space with sonic touches that could be no one else’s but his.Ultimately, it’s a fitting song for hfn’s hundredth release. For a label that’s always been a platform for its boundary-pushing artists, a collaboration between two of them, that sees an already innovative song pushed into a bold new shape is the perfect way for hfn to step into the next 100 releases..

Release Info:
After a three year absence, Kasper Bjørke returns to hfn music with a sublime new double EP entitled
“Nothing Gold Can Stay”. Having followed a deeply personal ambient music path that last year led to
the release of “Kasper Bjørke Quartet: The Fifty Eleven Project” on Kompakt Records, (named 5th
Best Contemporary Album 2018 in The Guardian), Kasper has found his way back to producing some
of his signature leftfield danceable beats, which “the past decade has seen Bjørke steadily rising amongst the ranks of artful, eclectic electronic producers…” (XLR8R).The Double EP “Nothing Gold Can Stay” explores both the analogue and organic side of his production work on Side A - while Side B reflects on sounds that he would play today, in one of his nightclub DJ sets. Side A contains four collaborations with four friends from LA, New York and Copenhagen. “Water” feat. Toby Ernest, the slow mo opener to the EP, revives the partnership with Toby that was last seen on 2014’s After Forever album (on the single “Rush”). Toby also provides the vocals on the cover version of Alessi Brothers’ 1975 classic “Seabird” - a track that came about through Kasper’s friendship and musical synergy with DJ and vinyl digger Christian d’Or, who is lead crooning while Toby delivers his signature falsetto. The “Seabird” cover adds a distinct contemporary feeling to the original version while staying true and respectful to the delivery and mood of the songs core. The 2nd half of the release, Side B, is directly aimed at the floor. Having stepped away from releasing club jams for a few years, Kasper is clearly enjoying getting back to the business of making people move. Side B of Nothing Gold Can Stay is both a testament to Kasper’s versatility as a producer and an all-out dancefloor assault, made with precision and sensitivity.

Release Info:
Made up of Dave Harrington (Darkside/Dave Harrington Group) and Benjamin Jay (NDF/Benoit & Sergio), Lights Fluorescent is, as the two describe it, an ‘experiment in the spaces between song and texture, idea and reference, past and present.’ On their debut album, The Oldest Sons Of The Oldest Sons, the duo develops an atmospheric, slant-pop sensibility that lists toward the experimental tendencies of improvisational and ambient music.
The result is a set of songs meant to be lived with. Entirely percussion-less, recordings drift on a tenderness of guitar, revenant feedback and vocals of autumnal intimation. Space Metal and July 9th process layers of bespoke noise and washed out chords to tarry with integral depth, light, and shadow, while Hotels distills country-western longing into its nth dimensional essence always unrequited.
From within these sonic panoramas, vocals emerge more as watercolor traces than coarse etchings. They aim to capture evocative, lyrical intensities, eschewing the solace of the literal. As such, the album favors 'the gestural, the implicit, and the miniature over the more adolescent urges of grand narratives and epic.’ These preferences map onto the album in all of its moves. J Girls reveals a hint of story buried, like its context, deep in whorls of feedback. Fleeting images of monuments, cathedrals, or epitaphs on tracks like Palace Walls or Small Sacrifices speak to a sense of memory and community paradoxically ungrounded by the material instantiations meant to keep things in place.

Release Info:
Blaue Blume are a Danish alternative art pop band with a deep connection to the romanticism of the early 80s UK scene. Referencing artists such as Talk Talk, The Smiths and Cocteau Twins, it's clear their influences are with the more sensitive, magical aspects of music - and the eternal questions of love, life and death. Following two singles (Lovable and Vanilla) the album Bell of Wool is finally with us. It’s suitably enchanting from start to finish. Two themes dominate Blaue Blume’s new album Bell Of Wool, darkness and adventure. With the record mostly made before singer Jonas Smith slipped into a depressive episode, the album’s lyrics and moods draw pictures of the darkness, anxiety and tension that would mark Smith’s depression. Sonically, the album sounds a distance away from anything they’ve done before. Indie and electro pop and rock are out, and instead the album is crafted from soft, glowing synthscapes, dawns and skies transformed into sounds. Even on hints of their older work, like on the acoustics of “Rain Rain”, the synthwork comes into the picture and swells the song into something bigger and more majestic. Opener “Swimmer” introduces the listener to the softness and subtlety of the new sound, whereas songs like “Morgensol” and “Bombard” show it at its biggest and more grand.

Fleeing her Soviet ruled home of Tbisili at a young age with her parents, Saze grew up as a nomad living in Russia, France, Canada and the USA before finally settling down and pursuing a career in NYC. A classically trained musician and dancer, before long the Georgian turned her back on corporate life to pour her heart and soul into the arts. Becoming a diligent and versatile electronic music producer, DJ and live act, Sophia Saze is as comfortable sculpting intricate and atmospheric productions in the studio as she is decimating dancefloors with robust Techno and frenetic Breaks.
Reflecting on her turbulent life and how it’s formed her own identity, Saze composed her aptly titled debut album, ‘Self’. Released on cassette in two instalments, ‘Part I’ dropped in June and was critically acclaimed with support from the likes of BBC 6MUSIC’s Tom Ravenscroft, Mixmag, DJ Mag, XLR8R, Resident Advisor, Future Music, Attack Magazine, TRAX, Tsugi, Ransom Note and Groove Magazine, with the latter drawing a parallel between hers and Burial’s music.
Completing the journey, ‘Part II’ meanders through genres like Ambient, Hip Hop and Breaks, and features very personal insights including handpicked samples from Soviet television shows and VHS cassette recordings from her childhood.
Hidden allusions of her classical music education bring up distant memories and melt together the organic but thoroughly electronic ambience. Crackles, hushes and hisses are elaborated so well that the record virtually gushes over the ears like mountain torrents. It appears peaceful and quiet, then rousing and it is sparked with bewildering sounds. It lets scattered beats arise from the thicket and drown again in streams of noise. But in the end, especially the haunting seriousness of the album is compelling. As a concept album, ‘Self’ consists of short and precise tracks mixed together, signifying a proper way to redefine a musical work in the modern age.
Mixed by commended Kingdoms label head Francis Harris, Sophia Saze’s detailed sound-design is brought to the front for an illuminating listening experience.

Georgian artist Sophia Saze releases her debut two-part album 'Self' on Francis Harris' Kingdoms imprint, with part one dropping on cassette this June. "The record embodies my story of duality within the context of identity, insomuch as the idea that every person has a deeper layer we don't show on the surface."
Born in Tbilisi, Sophia Saze is the daughter of political refugees who's spent her life living in numerous different countries before eventually finding home in Brooklyn. Finding it difficult to find her own identity due to living a nomadic lifestyle, the classically trained musician became entangled with electronic music before becoming a key player within New York's nightlife scene and launching her Dusk & Haze imprint in 2017.
A reflection of her struggles throughout life, 'Self' is very much a memoir of the many different places she's lived during her journey, including Georgia, Russia, USA, France and Canada. Contrasting to her recent productions, which are geared more towards the dancefloor, her debut longplayer is downtempo and features a medley of musical influences - mixed in two parts and released as a concept album on cassette. Maintaining a sonically raw feel throughout, 'Self' draws the analogy of analog to modern day digital culture whilst also taking a stance against perfection, whether integrating the distance crackle of her machines or intentional off-beat piano notes in minor. Part One was conceived, for the most part, during a sleepless yet inspired 48-hour studio session. Processed field recordings accompany samples from her childhood, such as soviet cartoons and intimate VHS recordings of her family. The result is a well-seasoned and personal story portrayed in fourteen tracks mixed together.
"I feel the element of patience is somewhat of a lost commodity in our generation, particularly for albums. We're consumed by track to track interpretations and constantly searching for the next instant stimulation. With this record, I wanted to reiterate the idea that if you don't have the willingness to sit through the whole thing, then you're not stepping into it with the right mindset to begin with."
Every artist who collaborated on the record is handpicked, such as vocalist Ricardo Rivera. The final production was also mixed by Francis Harris himself. All of their involvement means they share a fragment of the concept.
Sophia Saze 'Self' LP drops on Kingdoms on 14th June (Part One) and 12th July (Part Two) 2019.

Six years after his latest LP ‘Busted With A Bag Of Bliss’ came out on My Favourite Robot, Canadian indie electronica master Sid Le Rock returns with his fifth studio album ‘Scenic Route’.
The new LP, which will come out on April 26 via hafendisko, is the result of a year-long production process, marked by total creative freedom in the studio. “Reflecting the ethos of my over 15-year long music career, ‘Scenic Route’ is all about taking the long way — embracing my experiences and humility by continuing forth along a road less traveled, rather than seeking instant gratification and shortcuts in life,” Sid Le Rock says. With a total of eight LPs, four of which were released under his Sid Le Rock moniker, it’s clear that albums are the Berlin-based producer, live act, DJ and vocalist’s preferred form of expression. “I’m an album artist. I prefer the concept of an album, because it’s more intertwined with all your influences, your musical goals and directions, and you can get away with a lot more experimenting, expression and explorations than you can with an EP. EPs for me are foreplay,” he explains. Scenic Route is a musical journey through a wide palette of sounds, ranging from dancefloor tracks ‘Kismet’ and ‘Morgenfrisk’ to electro masterpieces ‘Speak Sweetly’ and ‘Hiraeth’. The album artwork has been created by Alex Solman, “the man behind the distinctive drawings for the Golden Pudel and one of the best visual artists working in music today” (Resident Advisor)

Anders Trentemøller's career is a travel-heavy one, with his touring schedule taking him pretty much all over the world. But it's his home port that's inspired his latest project, the sprawling, stunning compilation mix 'Harbour Boat Trips Vol. 02: Copenhagen'. Clocking in at just over an hour long, the compilation sees Trentemøller curate and craft sixteen songs into a heavy, hazy mix that ranges from shoegaze to electronica, featuring both familiar and celebrated artists like A Place to Bury Strangers (with a new Trentemøller remix) and Slowdive to more obscure finds, as well as Trentemøller's own tracks and remixes, most notably a brand new Trentemøller cover of Neil Young's classic 'Transformer Man'.
The mix sees him pick up a thread he left off earlier in his career. In 2009 he put together 'Harbour Boat Trips - 01: Copenhagen', a compilation mix comprised of his favourite music, both Danish and international, from across four decades, loosely inspired by the motion and movement of Copenhagen's busy harbour. Closing in on a decade later, we're getting the second edition, with 'Harbour Boat Trips - 02' arriving this November.
"Sometimes, it's nice to take a break from my own stuff and present some of the music that I like and music that inspires me", says Trentemøller.
The diversity of his musical knowledge and taste is reflected in the variety of places and times the tracks are sourced from, from old Danish cult classics to some of the best new artists to surface in recent years like Paris' Pyrit and Posh Isolation's CTM. What perhaps unites the songs on the mix is their sense of heaviness, of artistic depth. There's nothing throwaway or frivolous here, a mix stretching from industrial to shoegaze instead hitting the listener in the hard places. Trentemøller's mixing highlights the qualities the songs share, their darkness but also their strange, cold beauty and ability to captivate.
Despite the songs being pulled from very different places, they share a certain spirit here they form a coherent artistic unit for an hour-long musical journey.
And according to Anders, that's the point of a project like this, to not just to collect a bunch of great songs, but to mix them in such a way that the compilation develops its own distinct artistic character, its own separate story and identity:
"I like it when a mix tells a story, and it's not just a compilation of different tracks. If the tracks together take you on some kind of journey, then it's interesting for me. That's also what I have been trying to do with this HBT release. It was very important to me that it's not just another compilation of songs but a bunch of songs that means something to me, carefully mixed together to one whole.
I think a good mix is not limited to just one style, I always try to mix music that I like without thinking of what style it is. Instead it's the mood and the atmosphere that make all these different songs blend together. It's the glue." says Trentemøller.
Like previous releases of the danish musician and producer Harbour Boat Trips Vol. 02 connects with the mood of a certain season of the year.
"I think this mix has a certain autumn vibe to it, it's quite dreamy, melancholic but also noisy and violent in certain places. I didn't want this mix to be a 'coffee table mix'. It can work as background music maybe, but I think you get the best out of it with your headphones on and letting yourself let go in the music, in the moods of the mix."
About the selection of songs Trentemøller says:
"They're songs that have followed me for years, but also songs I discovered only recently. What I like about doing a mix like this, is that I can introduce the listeners to some songs they maybe haven't heard before. A track like 'Naked When You Come' is a Danish song from the 60s by The Lollipops, a quite corny band. But they wrote this amazing song that is so unique in terms of melody and production. The intro or the core groove of it, it could easily be the foundation for a modern hip-hop tune.
Another example is a Danish band from the early 90s called How Do I, who made an incredible cover of the ABBA song 'Knowing Me, Knowing You'. Their version makes you feel the song and the lyrics much stronger through the way they approached it. It's stripped down, and the changeover between the verses and choruses gives me goosebumps. Suddenly you listen to the lyrics much more carefully, and it feels like the music somehow really fits the words in a perfect way in this cover version."
The lead single for the compilation is brand new Trentemøller release, a cover of Neil Young's 'Transformer Man', a song that wasn't an obvious choice for Anders at all. He says:
"Although I'm a huge Neil Young fan, I actually didn't know about this song until Marie Fisker (a frequent colaborator (editor's note)) played it to me when we sat down and thought about some songs that would be fun to cover for the mix. I wasn't a fan of the song and its sound in the first place, but the melody, especially the hookline, somehow caught me. The song with its super corny vocoder and disco-pop sound is quite far away from what I normally listen to and so it wasn't an obvious choice and instead I took it as a challenge to see in which direction we could take the song. I thought it could be interesting to get rid of all that disco/vocoder stuff and focus on the song itself and suddenly it shined in new splendor." It's the cover's colder, starker, more affecting sound that puts it in spiritual sync with the compilation. With Marie Fisker on vocals, it keeps the original's sense of alienation and anomie while bringing in into Trentemøller's stylistic space, music that's monochromatically beautiful and gripping.

Kingdoms welcomes Finnish composer, producer, visual artist and filmmaker Hannu Karjalainen. His recording career now spans over a decade, beginning under the pseudonym Hannu and later under his full name for 'A Handful Of Dust Is A Desert' on Karaoke Kalk.
Now, this seven track mini album on Francis Harris' Kingdoms sees Karjalainen continue his explorations in new directions - touching on field recordings, soundscapes and esoteric instrumentation to build a truly meditative and moving record.
'Drift' begins with 'Sermon to the Birds', featuring beautiful plucked strings and ambient atmospheres, before 'Carnivorous Flower' casts us into enormous otherworldly dronescapes.
'Untitled #34' brings about a beat of sorts, but deeply deconstructed to a crawl, allowing acres of space between the hits and sub bass pulses. 'Sunless' is, conversely, a ray of light - bright, weightless pads provide the feeling of being completely cut adrift. Segueing into 'Nightfall', the tones become a little duskier and more intense, building throughout the track.
'That Obscure Object' is another trip into the space, as white noise and fragments of melody intersect. The album ends with 'The Nile' - a treated piano plays a haunting melodic sequence, seemingly suspended in air. It's a beautiful, emotional conclusion to an album that encourages the listener to take the time to experience its many pleasures.

MANOID returns to Hafendisko this October with his debut long player 'Truth', comprising six original tracks on vinyl from the Polish producer and live act. Rising producer MANOID has been steadily developing his unique approach to electronic music for the past few years, releasing his first tracks in 2014 and co-producing material for fellow Polish artist Pola Rise, whilst taking his live act across the globe to The Netherlands, South Korea,Iceland and more.
Here though, we see him marking a milestone in his career with his debut album for hafendisko, the Hamburg-based sublabel of hfn music. Across the Truth LP MANOID delivers an amalgamation of styles ranging from jazz-tinged electronica through to modern classical and techno- due to MANOID's origin often referred to as 'Forest Techno'.
One half of Darkness Falls and Trentemøller collaborator Josephine Philip also delivers vocals on 'Take Me', adding yet another musical twist to the package, whilst further ideas came to fruition through field recordings such as 'When' which is based upon recordings from a textile museum in the city of Lodz, and 'For Roses' which was initially made as a lullaby for MANOID's niece but he felt was a little too dark so later developed it into this enchantingly eerie composition for the album.
MANOID's debut album radiantly displays charm, maturity and musicality throughout and joins the thread of his musical influences and experiences perfectly.

Lydmor is Copenhagen based Jenny Rossander, an electronic producer, composer, singer, songwriter and general troublemaker. Now she's about to release her third solo album "I Told You I'd Tell Them Our Story", a multi-layered piece of modern electronic pop music.
In her sounds and with her words, Rossander captures a reflective description of her surroundings and invites the listener to follow her on a very personal journey.
After her first steps with her two solo albums, that have been released in Denmark only, to much applause, the first international coming out was the 'Seven Dreams Of Fire" album as Lydmor & Bon Homme (with Tomas Høffding from WhoMadeWho). In 2016 Lydmor suddenly disappeared to Shanghai for several months. Her life in the Chinese metropolis inspired her to write a piece of modern electronic pop music which will be released as her new solo album "I Told You I'd Tell Them Our Story" in September. "There is a fearless madness in her that might have waited for too long to finally break out." (Nothing But Hope And Passion). With lots of initiative, Lydmor has made her dream come true to tour most of the world with her music. No matter if she plays an acclaimed festival, a famous club or the tiny living room of her greatest fans, every single one of Lydmor's shows means a highly intense experience. With her irresistible voice and unabashed honesty Lydmor places the little hooks of her melodies and lyrics into the electronic soundscape and she will flirt, dance, cry, scream and hug her way into your heart.
After her first two albums - A Pile of Empty Tapes (2012) and Y (2015) - which were only released in Denmark, Lydmor's new record will be released internationally for the first time by hfn music. "I Told You I'd Tell Them Our Story" is a rite of passage captured in intense moments experienced on the edge of the world and on the edge of one self. Lydmor lived in Shanghai for several months in 2016 and the Chinese metropolis inspired her to completely redefine her artistic expression and to write this new album.

Building on the already incredible collection of music so far released on Francis Harris' Kingdoms imprint, Emil Abramyan returns with the stunning 'Movement' album.
Abramyan is a Brooklyn based composer, musician, and producer, whose work traverses various styles and disciplines. In this release Emil shares his unique perspective by bringing together his conservatory training as a cellist and his love of electronic music and sound design. Having played the cello on every Francis Harris album, Abramyan now expands his repertoire by playing every instrument, including cello, piano, and electronics.
Beginning with 'Flightplan', the album lifts off in sublime fashion. Brooding cellos combine with pianos before subtle rhythms unfold and introduce themselves.
'Winter's' skittering rhythm is combined with pizzicato melodies, clicks and modular synth flurries.
Showcasing his versatility, 'Foolky' is a more dance floor oriented cut - a highly percussive groove unfolds and carries along a variety of instrumentation. 4_24 also makes use of shuffling, percussive grooves layered with drone sounds, and more of Abramyan's signature cello.'Fever' sees the brooklynite heading in a more obviously ambient direction, building atmosphere with a mixture of close mic'd experimentation, and beautiful choral fragments.Rounding off this release, label boss Francis Harris reworks 'Flightplan', finding new nuances in the sublime atmosphere, and slowly building up to a subtle, understated groove that takes the track to a different place entirely.

Fresh on Francis Harris’ Kingdoms imprint comes Rasmus Juncker’s 'Ophold' - six tracks of sublime atmospheres and textures. The Danish musician, sound composer and DJ fits perfectly with the label's aesthetic, joining the dots between ambient, leftfield electronica and modern classical.
Juncker has a background in studying jazz drumming and has been playing improvised music within the jazz domain for many years. He also started to DJ at the age of 14 and was introduced to the world of electronic music production at the same time.
When Rasmus started to think about his debut album he spent several months trying to find his own way to combine his favourite musical influences, improvisation, electronics and classical music. “Almost a year later”, Juncker says, "I went to a sensory deprivation floating tank in Copenhagen while researching for another performance and while I was lying there, floating in the water, deprived from most of my senses, I got the idea to do something drastic in my musical process. Philosophers like Immanuel Kant describe this deprived state as a mental 'Cesura', which became some sort of guideline for the album."
So Juncker decided to start working on the album by leaving the process as well as the final result completely open. “I wanted to create sounds and music that I had no idea what they would sound like, but would feel like a mental 'Cesura', an ‘Ophold’ (in Danish)” he states.
He invited musicians, one after the other, to his studio. "I had an electronic musician to improvise patterns and new interesting sounds based on my experience in the deprivation tank. I chose some of the takes and some weeks later I invited a jazz guitarist to listen and improvise on top of what he heard. Then a classical string quartet and a double bass player came to my studio months later, and finally I recorded myself on percussion and drums.
Throughout the recording process I've been experimenting with special microphones in various setups, used noises from the recordings and the room became absolutely essential for the pieces." Juncker states.
"The material I used was all first take improvision which I arranged, layered and edited into compositions. The final pieces were mixed by Andreas Pallisgaard with the same improvised and experimental approach of the recording and the production. None of the musician met each other, but their sounds developed into something completely fantastic I think. The presence of the acoustic instruments and the depth and complexity of the synthesized layers gave some kind of an indescribable sounding music from another galaxy.
Track by track:
'Norddrum' starts proceedings - ethereal, grainy sounds merge and disassociate, as a distant rhythm gradually finds its way to the fore.
The second track, 'Sora' , clocking in at under 2 minutes, is an interlude full of strings, pads, and percussive hits, rich in feeling. This strong sense of sound design and seemingly disparate sounds woven together into a whole carries through into 'Eksotisk Tirsdag' - the strings, plucked instruments and electronics harking back to 4th world adventurers like Jon Hassel and Brian Eno.
'Cyklus' dives into drone textures, pulsing and modulating to create an unearthly soundtrack.
'Havekunst' is another 2 minutes interlude, this time bringing a fully charged rhythmic barrage to the front.
'Cesura', the final track is in essence the EP’s centerpiece - a sprawling 8 minute journey that traverses tense, fibrous sections and on into pulsing modular passages, before opening up into glorious moments of wonder and brightness. It’s a hugely bold yet fragile endeavour, in line with the whole release.

Fresh on Francis Harris' Kingdoms imprint comes Adamo Golán's seven track LP, 'Exile And The New'. Golán is the alter ego of British-German artist Laurens A. Schmidt, who has been pursuing a more club-focused techno project, while developing an ever deeper fascination with experimental music, ambient and film scores. Drawing influence from his adopted homes Berlin and currently London, the 26-year-old has been uncompromisingly trying to develop his own musical voice.
'Exile And The New' expresses this ongoing pursuit and, being the first full-length and first ever release by Adamo Golán, marks the start of his most personal project to-date. Stretching over seven tracks, it touches upon a diverse set of sceneries, moods, and emotions whilst a distinctive sound design gives the work a subtle framework and guiding thread.
'Fis' starts the proceedings, introducing drones and field recordings and enveloping the listener in Golán's distinct sound world. 'Just Friends' merges distant snapshots of disembodied vocals with granular sound design and a sense of both space and creeping claustrophobia simultaneously. It's an approach the young producer has mastered - 'Replica' maintains an ambience of the deeply personal and a wider, hazy focus, realised via exquisite melodic fragments against a backdrop of pads and chiming electronics. Title track 'Exile And The New' unfolds around another cinematic world scored via a single stringed instrument, static interference and oceans of space. 'Lie to Me' brings a piano refrain to the fore, wrapped in luscious ambience and more fragments of a conversation heard through the rain. 'Then Rely On Me' slowly develops out of a haunting atmosphere and finds an uneasy but strangely beautiful flow, before 'The Hungry Years' closes out the album as it started - floating in space.
The 26-year-old artist sees the album as a journey that should captivate but never impose itself on the listener. It´s a gracious and neighborly invitation to dive in, get lost and explore its facets and peculiarities.

With his new album "Trail Of Intuition" Danish singer and songwriter Jacob Bellens once again is shimmering somewhere in-between electronically influenced songwriting and synthpop music, using his characteristic voice to reflect on his life's journey.
Since the age of five, making music means creating a parallel universe to Jacob Bellens. It's his very own space, where he can be himself and always retreat to, no matter what happens. Out of this universe the Copenhagen based musician has released numerous songs and albums with his previous bands I Got You On Tape and Murder, with side projects and features as well as a solo artist.
"Trail Of Intuition" is his fourth solo album and the second one that's internationally signed with hfn music. Unlike the songs for his previous release "Polyester Skin", which he wrote mostly on piano and guitar before sending them to producer Kasper Bjørke for final production, Bellens wrote all the songs for "Trail Of Intuition" on his computer. You could see him sitting in front of his laptop in coffee shops across Copenhagen, with his headphones on, letting the basic programming and pre-production of the songs become an essential part of the writing process. The final production was made mostly by Rune Borup, who he knows back from the I Got You On Tape days and his friend Lars Iversen (The Asteroids Galaxy Tour), with whom Bellens also had the band project Goblins.
The new album is a collection of snapshots of the whole range of feelings for which Bellens digs into the pool of his own experiences. "Every song I wrote is me describing my own life, even if I describe it as nonsense" he says. Any experience - happy or sad - can function as an influence; observations in public, a sudden change in mood as well as a more general sense of feeling helpless with what's happening in the world like it has been layed out in the song "Europe's Burning". It's always leading back to Bellens, looking out from within, being a bit further into his life now than it was the case earlier.
With a significant focus on pop music, an electronic synth twist and catchy song structures, with its playfulness as well as the ambiguous lyrics, "Trail Of Intuition" feels both, bright and melancholic, in many ways. Light and dark co-exist but the often mellow and quirky subjects Bellens' lyrics evolve around end up tipping more towards the lighter side.
The opener "Sunrise In East" was written some years ago in context of Bellens' band I Got You On Tape but never got finished until recently. It combines warm piano sounds with a semi-psychedelic fantasy and references both personal memories of the times spent with the band as well as thoughts about nuclear war and druggy, sleeping bees.
The rather upbeat single "Renegade" is dealing with the experience of loss as well as the fear of losing a loved one again, but it's also about comparing the current situation in life to "where you thought you would be when you where young", says Bellens. Assumingly everyone can relate to those kinds of thoughts and accordingly catchy does "Renegade" sound. Driven by a groovy electronic bass it has an optimistic and hopeful vibe although lyrically it's one of the darker songs on the the album.
While "All The Songs" and "Sound Of Laughter" are in many ways merely classical love songs, "Brick By Brick" revolves around the love for the process of making and creating music one day after another.
"Friday" is "maybe the song that sounds the most like a band would sound" and is basically about longing to be somewhere else, dreaming about packing your bags and taking off but not quite being able to act upon it just yet.
"One Of A Kind" is a song Bellens wrote before the release of his first solo album but never recorded it in a version he was happy with. Many years later he played it live at a concert when Kasper Bjørke happened to be in the audience. He urged Bellens to finally record the song. "But I thought it needed a different production so I did what I sometimes do and wrote a ‚sibling' song, an attempt to make a different version of the same song", Bellens says. That's how "Untouchable" came to life, the single released off the previous album "Polyester Skin", that became a bit of a hit - and in Italy, surprisingly for a ballad, even a radio hit at one of Italy's biggest radio stations. So "One Of A Kind" was basically the template for "Untouchable" and indeed you can hear the connection between the two songs, both breathing a similar darkish but groovy atmosphere. In "One Of A Kind" sluggish piano tones create a jazzy feel while the strings by Ida Marie Arendt and Kirstine Elise Pedersen add a bit of drama and a trumpet (Mikkel Grevsen) even a festive moment.
In his musical universe Jacob Bellens is king. With "Trail of Intuition" he's headed out for the fourth time to tell his story wrapped in catchy pop tunes full of playful oddity and to steal the hearts of his (soon-to-be) fans all over the world.

Info:
With his new album "Trail Of Intuition" Danish singer and songwriter Jacob Bellens once again is shimmering somewhere in-between electronically influenced songwriting and synthpop music, using his characteristic voice to reflect on his life’s journey.
Since the age of five, making music means creating a parallel universe to Jacob Bellens. It’s his very own space, where he can be himself and always retreat to, no matter what happens. Out of this universe the Copenhagen based musician has released numerous songs and albums with his previous bands I Got You On Tape and Murder, with side projects and features as well as a solo artist.
“Trail Of Intuition” is his fourth solo album and the second one that’s internationally signed with hfn music. Unlike the songs for his previous release “Polyester Skin”, which he wrote mostly on piano and guitar before sending them to producer Kasper Bjørke for final production, Bellens wrote all the songs for “Trail Of Intuition” on his computer.
“Every song I wrote is me describing my own life, even if I describe it as nonsense” he says. Apart from their own works composers, musicians and producers Brandon Wolcott and Emil Abramyan already had a joint release with YouAndTheSpace Between, the opener on the Don't Break My Love release on Nicolas Jaar's Clown & Sunset label in 2012. In the same year the two have approached by theater artists Michael Silverstone and Abigail Browde of 600 Highwaymen to compose music for a new work of live performance called The Record.
Aside from a simple series of prompts and directions, the music was composed independently of the choreography. Drawing from backgrounds in theatrical sound design, classical composition and experimental electronic music, Brandon Wolcott and Emil Abramyan sought to create a diverse tapestry of sound, striving for a dynamic emotional arc that might elude a sense of genre or recognizable form. The music is performed live, with Emil on cello and structured into six songs on the Mini-LP Music of The Record to be released at the end of November 2017.
Brandon Wolcott is a Brooklyn based sound artist, composer and theatrical sound designer. His work has been heard at venues including The Pubic Theater, Lincoln Center, Park Avenue Armory, Mass Moca, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and Centre Pompidou. He has released music with Wolf + Lamb Music, Archipel Records and Nicolas Jaar's Other People. His dance-music project Smirk, has been presented at venues and festivals around the world, including Communiky, Mutek, Save, Dispatch, and UnSound. As a sound designer/composer, Brandon has collaborated on a diverse array of projects, including work in dance, theater, installation and film. Collaborations include 600 HIGHWAYMEN, Marina Abramovic, Laurie Anderson, Taylor Mac, Faye Driscoll, Geoff Sobelle, Kevin Newbury, and many more. Recently, Brandon create a co-composition (with Emil Abramyan) of the score for The Fever, also by 600 Highwaymen, which premiered in New York in January, 2017 and is currently touring throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Emil Abramyan is a New York based cellist and composer. After receiving his B.A. in cello performance from Manhattan School of Music, he began teaching and freelancing in Los Angeles and New York. An evolving appreciation for electronic music drove him to explore other forms and textures of sound, ultimately leading him to produce and compose for himself. His most recent project focused on the co-composition (with Brandon Wolcott) of the score for The Fever by 600 Highwaymen, which premiered in New York in January, 2017 and is currently touring throughout the U.S. and Europe. Previous highlights include the release of his own music on Nicolas Jaar's Other People label; recording and performance with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Radio City Music Hall; collaboration with Francis Harris on his albums Leland and Minutes of Sleep; and upcoming collaborative and solo releases on the label Kingdoms.
The Record by 600 Highwaymen
In 2012, theater artists Michael Silverstone and Abigail Browde (who work under the moniker 600 HIGHWAYMEN) approached Brandon Wolcott and Emil Abramyan to compose music for a new work of live performance called The Record. It was to be performed by 45 strangers. It was part theater, part dance, part group hallucination - vivid human assembly on an epic scale.
Apart from a simple series of prompts and directions, the music was composed independently of the choreography. Drawing from backgrounds in theatrical sound design, classical composition and experimental electronic music, Brandon and Emil sought to create a diverse tapestry of sound, striving for a dynamic emotional arc that might elude a sense of genre or recognizable form. The music is performed live, with Emil on cello.
The Record is an especially unique choreographic process due to the fact that each of the 45 performers learns their movement score individually, without the other performers and in the absence of music. It is only on the first performance that they meet one another and hear the music for the first time. This generates a palpable sense of immediacy and intimacy for both performer and audience - a sense that something sublime is taking place.
On February 10, 2013, we all came together for the first time to perform The Record at the Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn, NY. Since then, the experience has been recreated seven times, with presentations in New York City (The Public Theater), The Netherlands (Noorderzon Festival), Germany (Festival Theaterformen), France (Centre Pompidou, Parc de La Villete), Australia (OzAsia Festival), Greece (Onassis Cultural Centre), and the U.K. (IBT Bristol International Festival).
The choreography has been performed by more than 400 people worldwide.
The subject is us; the time is now. This is the music of The Record.

Info:
The Copenhagen based pop wonders Blaue Blume return with a new EP - 'Sobs'. The band formed around 6 years ago in a provincial Danish town, drawn to each other's love for rich, playful music. Blaue Blume (blue flower) is the epitome of a romantic band, their songs are brimming with love and yearning.
Now 'Sobs', the follow up to their 'Syzygy' album in 2015, continues to build their reputation as a best kept secret, about to find a whole new audience of devotees.
All four tracks for the EP were recorded in late 2016 in a three story villa, formerly owned by a religious cult. The band used the weird space away from the city to create a framework for the lyrics and the music.
The band explains: "Blaue Blume has been our band for about 6 years. In a bigger provincial town we started playing right out of highschool. At the moment we live in Copenhagen and every day we play, write and work on sounds. It's sort of become a life project. In our heads we make music that is playful, rich in detail and popish or somewhat smiling. For some beautifully inexplicable reason we ended up doing music together. In a way it seems sacred or at least meaningful. Macabre is a happy
song about being afraid of dying. Some of us find that even the best life can be lonely sometimes. We found it interesting to address this taboo within the frame of a song that people could potentially dance or sing along to."
Blaue Blume draw inspiration from the drama of The Smiths, the melodic structures of the Cocteau Twins, the complexity and dynamics of 'The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway' by Genesis, the sensual 'danciness' of Roxy Music and the fateful tenderness of Nina Simone - to name but a few.
The opening track 'Macabre' - "a happy song about being afraid of dying" is a whimsical, misty electronic pop song with an anthemic edge and unexpected twists and turns. 'Ebony' presents an epic gentleness - beautifully crafted with a nod to 80s power ballads, yet perfectly contemporary.
'Mayhem' takes a more electronic direction, with an intricate arpeggiated guitar and a clever drum groove providing the backing for an emotive vocal.
'Haven't You' brings the EP to a close, a beautiful lament, perfectly layering guitar, synth bass, shuffling drums and an exquisite, melancholic vocal. In the words of the band, music for staring out the window for hours, contemplating your world

Cryosleep is the debut album from Null + Void, the alias of prolific New York producer Kurt Uenala. It's an album of contrasts and tension, where darkness is pierced by blinding light, and where moody new wave bleeds into stark electronics. In one moment, joyful memories give way to isolation and regret, and in the next, Cryosleep explores the catharsis of crowded dancefloors. Throughout the record, Uenala matches his dynamic production with incredible vocalists-from Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan and the inimitable Shannon Funchess, to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Big Pink. Null + Void's take on dark pop meshes with his love for Detroit electro, poignant synth melodies, and cold atmospheres.
With the cinematic opener "Falling Down" and brooding instrumentals like "Come To Me", Cryosleep can feel like the soundtrack to a lost space epic. No doubt, the album evokes Blade Runner, dystopian landscapes, and the splendor of far-off galaxies. As Uenala puts it, Cryosleep is inspired by "classic sci-fi stuff," images of futuristic machines sustaining humans frozen in a dreamstate. The melancholy "Foreverness" explores what they might be thinking: "A collection of fragments, memories of a life lived-preserved, but incomplete and jumbled." Meanwhile, "Into The Void" paints a peaceful, otherworldly picture, "like soaring towards a white light." Lead single "Asphalt

On October, 20, 2017, ambient shoegaze duo Aris Kindt launch the new Kingdoms imprint with their second album, Swann and Odette.
Picking up where their first record (2015's Floods) leaves off, Swann and Odette is an evolutionary leap forward for the duo. The sonic palette is deeper, the grooves more sparse and the melodies are given more room to seep deep within a mix so expansive it feels almost tactile.
This is heady, opulent stuff. The album is immaculately produced and cunningly arranged to sidestep easy classification while not sacrificing accessibility and authentic feeling.
Aris Kindt is the collaborative project of Gabe Hedrick and Francis Harris (Scissor and Thread). Harris has previously released the albums Leland (2012) and Minutes of Sleep (2014), both of which have been lauded "for (their) extensive use of live instruments, a contrasting feature to his work done before" (last.fm, 2016). Building on this approach, Hedrick adds his own sonic signature in effects-laden layers of electric guitar and modular synthesizer. Collectively, the album swells and reverberates to create a seamless interplay of synths and instrumentation cast loose from their origins and awash in oceanic delay.

Now with over 20 years of releases behind him, Oliver Huntemann finds himself on the cusp of yet a new era in his career. 'Propaganda' is the fifth proper artist album from the Hamburg-based DJ/producer, and like each of its predecessors, it shows a different side to one of the most consistently rewarding names in techno. Released on his own Senso Sounds label, the album exudes the level of assurance that perhaps only comes with being so active in curating and developing a label that has stood out from the masses since its inception in 2014.
'Propaganda' opens with 'Taktik', and the mood is quickly established through crisp motorik drum programming and deep, pulsing bass lines. 'Poltergeist' - the 2nd cut, continues this aesthetic - a deep and spacious groover. Clocking in at over 1 hour 15 minutes, the album allows a lot of space for itself, each tracking having the time it needs to develop and unfold. 'Egoist' ramps up the feel somewhat with intricate melodies and effects, before breaking down into something that will destroy many dance floors.
Yet the beauty of the album format is that it allows for various mood changes, and 'Malaria' brings us something of a shift into a more freaked out and edgy vibe, while 'Anonym' highlights Huntemann's mastery of atmosphere, serving as an ambient / downbeat interlude.
'Rotlicht' is perhaps a standout for fans of Huntemann's epic DJ sets, exhibiting all the control and release dynamic that make him such an engaging performer. It's also clearly a key cornerstone for the entire album
Next up is 'Absurd', followed by 'Manipulation' - both reference the exquisite sound design Huntemann instils into his precision- built tracks, while remaining primed for club use at all times. 'Momentum' switches up the tempo, perhaps influenced by more experimental, no wave and krautrock sources - and serving as punctuation before the album's final triptych.
'Vertigo' sees shimmering arpeggiated synths skip across a solid rhythm track, while 'Doppelgänger' builds a delicious tension through constant pads and pulsing, blocky bass tones. 'Trick17' ultimately rounds off 'Propoganda', - an expanse of emotionally charged techno with Huntemann's signature feel woven into its fabric.

Info:
Despite having deep roots within the club scene as a acclaimed producer, remixer and busy DJ, Kasper Bjørke has in the past years been focusing his own album productions on song oriented compositions, suitable for home listening rather than the dance floor. The DJs and ravers have been kept busy with remixes of his original versions - but for this new release, Kasper turns his own full attention to the business of making people move.
'Fountain of Youth' is a mini-LP drawing on Kaspers 15 years immersed in club culture and inspired by some of the genres he plays in his own DJ sets around the world; house, classic electro, post disco and techno. It's exceptionally executed, a masterclass in exquisite sound and production - and a innate knowledge of dance floor dynamics.
'Cloud 9' is the haunting and melancholic 808 breakbeat infused lead single (which features Urdur on the vocal version, known from the Icelandic collective GusGus) - an intoxicating 90s vocal house music tribute, that will surely both provide euphoric moments on the club floors and warm the hearts of radio audiences alike.
Cloud 9 is released accompanied by luminary remixes from Gerd Janson (Running Back), Marvin & Guy (Hivern Discs) and Weval (Kompakt). 'Klint' is a throbbing and fun jam that conjures up memories of post disco and itchy italo. 'Rays' draws on a dreamy, descending synth theme, 808 patterns and a thick, punchy low end. 'Zenith (feat. Null & Void)' with its distinct, distorted and glitchy modular synth anthem, is a perfect afterburner for the later hours or in that 2 am party transition phase. 'Köln' has Kasper showing his deep love for the German techno capital, with a trippy percussive groove that builds into a futuristic ride topped by a simple, synthetic string theme. 'Palindromos' pushes into the dream zone driven by filtered drum loops, giving the whole track a sense of enormous space and that certain UK feeling.
'Dawn', works as an outro on the mini-LP; a beatless, ambient saxophone infused affair - that may or may not indicate what you can expect from the next Kasper Bjørke full length… Who can tell...
The cover art is by Danish rising artist Lotte Rose Kjaer Skau, represented by IMT Gallery in London. The captivating computer visualized art piece is called "Lidenskab" which translates into "Passion"

Tracklist 12":

B2. Oliver Huntemann: Kiez **

Info:
hafendisko's hamburg elektronisch is back with a delicious teaser ahead of the third album of the series. Once more the label stands up and shouts about the city's rich and diverse electronic music scene. The series so far has brought together local legends and up and coming artists alike - showing the world that Hamburg's famous modesty hides an embarrassment of riches.
This vinyl only EP lands prior to the full compilation, and features some exclusive reasons to get very excited.
Longtime not only home-town favorite Erobique (Carsten Mayer) sets out the stall for this release with the very special title track - 'Teknomusi', a charming, deranging and driving take on 'techno music' - quite different from his usual, rather funk driven output.
Oliver Huntemann - who's contribution to the Hamburg scene (most recently via his Senso label) has been incalculable over the last couple of years, brings us 'Kiez'- a dark and moody tech house growler that gets under the skin from the very start.
Remute (Denis Karimani) is no slouch in making people move either, and as owner of the Remute label has been responsible for some of the city's finest output. 'Summer Slump', which sees its vinyl premiere here, sees him lock into a techy groove and explore various audio textures and shades, while keeping things firmly rooted to the floor.
'Teufelsbrück' (Vinyl Edit) comes courtesy of the Wareika guys, (Jakob Seidensticker, Florian Schirmacher and Henrik Raabe) who's dedication to exploring the further reaches of electronic dance music always impress. Here we get an amazing trip into psychedelic tropicalia vibes via techno driven synth incantations.

Info:
Jacob Bellens' new solo album Polyester Skin is set to amaze left-field pop enthusiasts and singer songwriter-fans alike. The locally celebrated and award winning singer songwriter Jacob Bellens is ready to release his first internationally signed solo album Polyester Skin through hfn Music. Polyester Skin is a wonderful mix of heartfelt lyrics, crisp & modern pop productions alongside Jacob's signature vocals that never fails to captivate the listener. As a household name in his native Denmark Jacob Bellens is no stranger to releasing albums and playing live. Jacob has released many albums with his own bands (Murder, I Got You on Tape and solo) alongside guest performances for other artists and he's played close to 500 shows. Fans of Jacob Bellens know how the music and lyrics of this humble and enigmatic artist crawls under your skin and leaves you moved and wanting for more. With Polyester Skin Jacob Bellens embarks on a new chapter in an already impressive career. Polyester Skin came to life during the past two years in a close collaboration between Jacob and acclaimed Danish producer & DJ Kasper Bjørke. Jacob sent a ton of demos to Kasper who then selected which songs he felt were the strongest and the ones he could contribute best to production-wise. This is just the latest of many musical endeavours between the two; Jacob has been featured on vocals on several of Kasper's solo releases including "Young Again" from the album Standing On Top Of Utopia (2010) and on "Lose Yourself to Jenny" from Kasper's 2012-album Fool. While the overall sonic impression of the album is electronic Polyester Skin also boasts an impressive lineup of guest musicians including Tomas Høffding (WhoMadeWho), Jakob Høyer (The Raveonettes, Trentemøller, Darkness Falls) and Nils Grøndahl (Under Byen, Efterklang, Pinkunoizu). The opener "Tidal Wave" sets the mood of the album with an open and airy production backing lyrics that evolves around the pivotal line "What is the point of having a guiding star if you wont listen". The beats and synths - in Jacob's own words - "have some kind of Vangelis/Chariots of Fire thing going on" which is more than hard to resist. One of Jacob Bellens' distinctive features is the almost Damon Albarn-esque musical diversity of his output. The heavy groove, synth-strings and especially the vocal-rhythm of "Behind the Barricades" reveals Jacob Bellens longtime fascination with rap music while "Raining Parachutes" has a caribbean feel to it, a musical style that's also been hinted at in Jacobs earlier work.
Polyester Skin features quite a few tracks whose shuffle-grooves and synth-roles pay homage to a certain flavour of 80s pop, as in the uptempo "Ace of Spades" and the beautiful ballad "Untouchable". But don't let the seemingly lightweight synth-ingredients and crisp drum machines deceit you - the lyrical abundance of existential depth and intimate melancholy is omnipresent throughout Polyester Skin. But there are no rules without exceptions and on key tracks like "Back to You" and the title track "Polyester Skin" we experience a new side of Jacob Bellens that proves he's more than capable of embracing the brighter sides of life in extremely groovy and catchy pop-songs.
Jacob Bellens' 3rd solo album is a playful and modern take on the artistic virtues that has made him into one of the most celebrated artists on Denmark's independent scene in the past decade.

Imagine bringing together two distinct but complementary musical talents, already established as composers and producers in their own right, one male - with years as a performer on the festival and club circuit behind him - and one female - a rising star with a siren’s voice, a maverick committed to live performance. Imagine their astonishing sound: an intoxicating concoction of driving rhythms, lush synths, psychedelic effects and instantly memorable hooks drenched in a dark atmosphere of melancholy and brooding beauty.
If you can do that, you’re on your way to grasping the wondrous soundworld of ‘Seven Dreams of Fire’, the debut LP from Lydmor & Bon Homme - a partnership that brings together Tomas Høffding, the singer-bassist of experimental Danish electronic pop trio WhoMadeWho and Jenny Rossander aka Lydmor (literally ‘Soundmother’), a singer-songwriting star rising from the fires of the underground and spreading her wings.
The artist
Lydmor & Bon Homme is an new duo constisting of two established, exciting artists. Tomas Høffding, singer and bassist of WhoMadeWho released already four albums with the danish electronic band as well as two solo albums as Bon Homme, while Lydmor currently gains a lot of attention for her yet second solo album 'Y'.
The album
'Seven Dreams Of Fire' is a masterclass of modern electronic Pop Noir, breathing the outstanding talent and attitude of two contrasting personalities with distinct voices, that melt perfectly into wonderful songs.
The album also features Tomas Barfod (Filur, WhoMadeWho, Tomboy, Superbacon (Programming)) and Birk Nevel on drums. WhoMadeWho’s Tomas Høffding, aka Bon Homme, who proffers a sizeable chunk of it to a singer called Lydmor. The two Copenhagen-based acts perform enjoyable alternate sets - full magic blossoms, a spunky blend of quirky melodies, a bowler hat, beard and her little drum machine. Their forthcoming combo album should be well worth catching. (Clash Music)

Tracklist 12":
A1. Stay In Love
A2. Stay In Love (Yannick's Loveshuffle Mix)
B1. Stay In Love (Acid Pauli's Bone Drone Remix)
B2. Stay In Love (Instrumental)
No longer one of Denmark's best kept secrets, Holtoug's talent is firmly out of the bag as he touches down on hafendisko with the yearning 'Stay In Love' - a tune worthy of comparison in feel and tone to Âme's smash 2012 remix of Ry & Frank Wiedemann's 'Howling'. Marrying the drive and energy of dance music to the singer-songwriting sensibility of his indie roots, it's a delicious mélange, intense yet featherlight, booming yet ethereal: an intricate and playful soundworld characterised by breathy pads, deft percussive flourishes and a swooping, swooning bass that basks in all its glory on the accompanying Instrumental version.
On remix duties, hafendisko labelmate Yannick Labbé - best known for his work with Trickski and long association wth Jazzanova/Compost - gets all dark and menacing, adding harsh, machine percussion, vibrating subs and a discombobulating counterpoint of eerie, sustained tones.
Meanwhile, Martin Gretschmann (The Notwist), operating under his Acid Pauli pseudonym, mutates the vocal into a cooing, howling, wah-wah as playful intertwined synth lines dance and bounce off each other gleefully. Perpetually inventive, otherworldly stuff!

Justly feted for their debut LP ‘Alive in Us’, a string of exquisite live performances, and the single ‘Hey!’ – the most played tune on Danish radio in 2011 - Copenhagen-based duo Darkness Falls return with ‘Dance And Cry’, an album of atmospheric pop noir that - even in March – will surely stake a claim to be one of this year’s musical highlights come Christmas. Defying convention, Josephine Philip and Ina Lindgreen effortlessly blend a host of rock and pop influences, the textures and structures of electronic dance music and the haunting atmospheres of arthouse cinema soundtracks to produce an album of deep longing and icy cool – all drawn together by impeccable vocals that embody a decidedly glamorous melancholy. It’s an album that will tick all the boxes for a diverse range of listeners; as they themselves put it: ‘In our music, there is something for the mind, something for the heart and something for the feet too.’
The dramatic opener sets the tone, a torchsong that seductively entices the listener to ‘come out and join me for night games’ over layers of sustained synths. A slow house kick drum adds momentum, as one carefully curated sound after another enriches the musical palette till it builds to a heart-stirring climax. The haunting single ‘The Answer’ – a tale of love, desire and loss - maintains the quality, as a Cure-like guitar motif circles over a beautifully textured beat of found sounds. Lush and yearning, it’s instantly unforgettable.
From this point on, it’s clear that picking favourites will be a thankless task: this is an album of consistent brilliance. From the plangent drama of ‘Liar’s Kiss’ to the electro-tinged instrumental of ‘Thunder Roads’ via the pop drama of single ‘Hazy’, simply everything is a highlight. Forthcoming single ‘Dance And Cry’ best captures the album’s emotional core, a scene from an urban life tinged with loneliness and heartbreak but also the empowerment that comes from living life to the full. As its title suggests, it’s not a question of either/or but rather both.
Meanwhile, ‘My Father Told Me’ showcases the duo’s breadth of expression, swirling you away on a climactic disco-noir journey. It’s emblematic of an album that’s a dizzying whirlpool, drawing in a dazzling array of influences. The Jesus and Mary Chain, Cocteau Twins, Kate Bush, Nite Jewel, bedroom pop, widescreen expanses, basement rock, church choir ethereality: each listener will bring their own personal touchstones and inspirations to mind.
‘Darkness Falls’ was traditionally a phrase used in old plays, shorthand for indicating the ending of a scene: the moment where the drama is given over to you, to hold, to contemplate, to languorously enjoy. ‘Dance And Cry’ couldn’t be more fitting in these terms: an album of great richness in which you’ll want to immerse yourself.
‘Dance And Cry’ will be released March 30th on hfn music with the brilliant artwork of multi award winning Peter Funch, a danish, New York based photographer / artist, while all of the songs have been produced by the band with Adrian Aurelius (The Raveonettes) and Lasse Martinussen (Rosemary), except ‘Hazy’ which was produced with Anders Rhedin (Dinner, Choir of Young Believers).

Info:
Since its conception three years ago, the Hamburg based label hafendisko has been patiently building its reputation with a diverse and varied artist roster. Alongside releases from emerging talent such as Deo & Z-Man and Brynjolfor, it forms parent label hfn music's outlet for club oriented music whether with full releases or remixes for artists such as Kasper Bjørke and Faded Ranger and just recently welcomed renowned remixers such as Michael Mayer, Charles Webster and Luke Solomon, to name a few. Now with the release of Nummer Eins, Hafendisko is taking the next step in its evolution, serving up the best of past and present releases together with a string of exclusive cuts that signal an undeniably bright future. It’s machine music with real heart and soul as, time and again, the tracks locate that elusive sweet spot that unifies mind and body. The opening act replicates this highly collectable four track vinyl EP that precedes the digital release: Snacks’ ‚Easy’ provides an aptly titled intro, with sweet melodies, warm synth swells and looping vocal hooks evolving over a low slung, funk inflected groove. 'Purdie', the duo's debut last September instantly became a huge underground hit, while they are currently working on their debut album. Unkwon is Anders Dixon from Copenhagen and people will stop asking if it's a typo soon. Just off his stunning remix for Trentemøller's Deceive he takes it underground with the stuttering beats and melancholy phase of ‚Everything’, building a cavernous yet claustrophobic soundscape that’s designed to make your eyeballs sweat, before Ewan Pearson’s NRG instrumental of Kasper Bjørke's ‚Apart’ goes into dance floor overdrive, upping the ante again. Both the Michael Mayer and the Ewan Pearson mixes of Bjørke's final single off his newest album stirred a buzz. The Pearson remix appears on the Nummer Eins EP on vinyl the first time. Next up, the mysterious ‚Penelope’ leads us into the darker corners of disco as Deo & Z-Man unleash a flurry of dusty tribal rhythms, lo-fi piano stabs and twisted analogue circuitry. With their debut album 'No Bullshit' under their belts the brothers just released the 'No Bullshit Remix EP (and album) with mixes by Arttu, SLG, Julius Steinhoff . Alex Dimou, Marc Schneider and many more.

Info:
Faded Ranger made their hypnotizing debut earlier this year with a sparkling trio of singles - Be On The Lookout, Get Together (Right Now) and Blindfolds. Now the duo are ready to unveil their debut LP, Mechanical Tonight, in its full glory. Bringing together Nick Maurer's gift for bite-size storytelling and Neville Attree's intricate, melodic arrangements, the album is an infectious collection of tracks that resonate with a distinctive crossover appeal, while the dynamic beats ensure it still gravitates towards the dance floor. Ex-Greenskeepers frontman Maurer (Chicago) and Gumption Recordings founder Attree (London) first met while DJing at a notorious outdoor party called Girl's Camp in their adopted home of Heidelberg. Faded Ranger stumbled into existence soon after and has come to represent a meeting of minds borne out of circumstance and driven by musical legacy. Mechanical Tonight may be retro in its outlook as the pair work the presence of past influences out of their systems, but the melting pot of ideas and references converge at a point of undeniable modern appeal. The initial album sessions took place in Attree's basement studio which was (and still is) held together by string and sellotape. With no agenda, expectations or pressure to cloud their judgement, the budding partnership just did what felt right. Amid the conjured beats, majicked lyrics, jokes and story telling they hit the ground running, penning "Blindfolds", "Mechanical Tonight", "Pretty Colors" and "Be On The Lookout" in quick succession, setting the tone for the eclectic nature of the album. "Blindfolds" and "Be On The Lookout" are filled to the brim with vintage neon shades and proto-house intensity, while the darker synth pop of the album's title track takes its tongue-in-cheek inspiration from a drunken robot dancing competition. Lyrical content also plays an integral part in the album's alchemy like on the tripped-out sci-fi-dub "Pretty Colors". Then there's the vicious ambiguity of "Come To Me" and their hypnotic cover of Roxy Music's "In Every Dream Home A Heartache". In contrast, the album's introspective moods are achieved with the moody, trip-hop referencing "Everybody", "Room 101" and the sultry interlude "Wax Orgasmic". The final parts of the album puzzle were completed after the outfit had already formed a bond with their current label home HFN Music. With its slow, deliberate groove, vocal hooks and epic arrangement, "Get Together (Right Now)" recalls the halcyon days of house music. The opening cut "Going Somewhere" is an acute representation of the duo's plethora of influences that should appeal to new and vintage tastes alike, while the album cools out on a poignant note as "The Weak And The Strong", combines classic programming, heartfelt vocals and shifts of melodic suspense. It rounds off an intriguing panorama of sound that captivates and entertains in equal measures. Faded Ranger are on a mission to put their own personal stamp on electronic music. Meeting serendipitously while at a professional crossroads. sinewy debut single, "Be On The Lookout," shows that their partnership is off to blazing start as they put the finishing touches on their forthcoming full-length debut, Mechanical Tonight. (Big Shot, Interview)
Ahead of their new album is this teaser to wet your appetite. In ways it's the instrumental version of Be On The Lookout that proves to be great but then would deny you the pleasure of these curious, rather enticing lyrics. It's a combination of House organ and staccato guitar like rhythms which are driving, funky and commanding. (Magazine Sixty)
Faded Ranger will release their debut album called 'Mechanical Tonight. As the first track advancement of this album, is the track called 'Be On The Lookout' where different musical influences converge with some melodic arrangements, great sung parts and great bassline to get a catchy track for dance. (Como Las Grecas)
The compliation sheds a telling light on what's next to come from hfn music. Newcomers Faded Ranger will release their debut album on hfn music later this year. (Kaltblut Magazine)
Some interesting tracks contained here, really well produced. (Clash Magazine)

Deo & Z-Man, the blood-brothers from Hamburg, pulled off one of the most creative feats of last year with their debut album, 'No Bullshit'; with zero BS but plenty of
inspiration, the pair melted together a range of influences with a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek humour for their underground opus. The remix LP to follow this EP solidifies their commitment to the eclectic, drafting in friends and family like Lee Burton, Erobique and Tigerskin to rework the magic. This 12" package of highlights from that the upcoming remix LP pulls together a selection of the ingenious remixes. 'Chopped Memories' transforms from a laid-back groove with elements of hip hop and the cosmic, to unhinged neo-electro in the hands of the mad scientist ARTTU. Shading in the gaps with static, sirens, and serrated electro edges, ARTTU makes for a deeply memorable and deeply quirky stomper.
Marc Schneider’s masterful remix of 'Iced Out Space Lazerlights' riffs on the noodly, outer-space groove of the original; providing a solid 4/4 framework with space, deepness and real dancefloor compatibility. SLG handles the delicate downtempo of 'Universal Neighbours' like a pro, using a light touch and playful keys phrasing to slowly transform the mood from pensive to hopeful to positively uplifting, it's a deep house anthem in the making. Smallville boss Julius Steinhoff finishes on a high by delivering a signature piece of tightly wound deepness with his take on 'Tales Of Love'; scaling back the sunny retro-disco of the duo's original for a taste of the classy and classicist house that Smallville is known and loved for.
Tracklist:

Info:
On the 4th single from his highly acclaimed 4th LP "After Forever", Kasper Bjørke puts his disco noir anthem "Apart" into the safe hands of two luminary remixing talents. The original version of "Apart" (which is to be found on the digital single release and the album) was selected as "Tune of The Month" in MixMag in the September issue, stating: "Its nothing short of genius… Kasper absolutely nailed it". And now, on the digital and limited edition 12" vinyl (with beautiful artwork by american artist John Copeland), you will find two epic remixes by Kompakt Records' head honcho Michael Mayer and renowned UK producer, Ewan Pearson (Jagwar Ma, The Rapture, etc.) Michael Mayer gives the tune's melancholy synth pop an epic feel, remaking it for the deepest and darkest of big room dancefloors, adding a discombobulating synth drone and ramping up the intensity levels. Ewan Pearson's remix adds a High NRG vibe to expose the yearning vocal before adding layers of arpeggios and synthesizers to an utterly irresistible, motorik pulse with some epic breakdowns. Both remixes skilfully navigate a line between the pop and dancefloor sensibilities of the original track, respecting the integrity of the bittersweet, emotional vocals of the Icelandic girlgroup Sísy Ey. After the release of the three singles "Rush", "Sylvia" and "TNR", this package rounds off a quartet of singles, that confirms Bjørke's outstanding talent for sensitively combining influences of post disco and 80s synth pop in new and consistently invigorating ways. The album "After Forever" is out now on hfn Music.

Kasper Bjørke returns with an exquisite new album, ‘After Forever’, the Danish producer’s boldest and most elegant statement to date.
The scene has been set by two lead singles: ‘Rush’ featuring Tobias Buch - and ‘Sylvia’ featuring CTM. "After Forever is good for dark, sad dancing - or a headphone journey inwards" says Kasper "I feel like I really went somewhere else on this album, to a place where I haven’t been before. Out of my safety zone and into a darker space".

This third installment of DJ Margeir Ingólfsson’s acclaimed Blue Lagoon Soundtrack continues the tradition of capturing the relaxing and otherworldly atmosphere of the Blue Lagoon in a flawless mix of eclectic electronic gems. Known both at home and abroad as Iceland’s premier DJ, Margeir strikes a unique tone with tracks ranging from 1960s Icelandic classics through to brand new and exclusive unreleased material. Disc 1 is mixed by Margeir and Disc 2 by his alter ego outfit with GusGus’s President Bongo, Gluteus Maximus. Soulful, fluid, vital, and powered by an electronic heartbeat, this collection mimics the Blue Lagoon’s unique combination of the restorative power of nature and the manmade technology that harnesses it.
DJ Margeir is the Golden Calf making sacrifices on the sonic altar for the lost hordes. His infamy is forged from ironclad production, blistering DJ sets and a twisted sense of humour that keeps his disciples coming back religiously. Margeir is one half of Gluteus Maximus and a founding father of Radio Bongo, from the mighty Kompakt stable. As a club DJ, Margeir has circled the globe laying down the gospel since the early ‘90s, appearing alongside Carl Cox, Daft Punk, Booka Shade, and Trentemøller. DJ Margeir and his Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Samuel Samuelsson and featuring members of the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, takes audiences on an aural adventure they’re not likely to forget. Margeir’s Blue Lagoon baptisms are legendary, his water-borne party sets ferrying crowds to an otherworldly land of musical plenty. The first of his acclaimed Blue Lagoon Soundtracks went gold. The highly anticipated third chapter will be released in May 2014. Testify.
Gluteus Maximus is Iceland’s President Bongo and DJ Margeir. Masterminds of the Reykjavik-based events company Jón Jónsson, these dysfunctional digital artists have jockeyed their discs everywhere from Pacha to The End, armed with a combined remix list verging on the offensive - Björk, Trentemøller, Sigur Rós, Captain Comatose, Prins Póló and Kasper Bjørke to name but a few. Their original hit single “Everlasting”, featuring the magnificent vocals of Högni Egilsson, heralded the birth of their own label, Radio Bongo. The Guardian calls them an “unexpected treat,” Resident Advisor notes they have “several thousand Icelanders eating out of the palm of their hands,” and The Quietus calls them “lunatics,” albeit ones who drive the crowd “potty” and send them “off down into the spiral.” Both at home and abroad Margeir and The President are a supernatural institution. They’re an arsenal of rotating musical mass with a live freak show that shouldn’t be missed.

With their debut album on Hamburg's taste making hafendisko, Deo & Z-Man proceed their research in contemporary electronic music beyond stylistic boundaries and present a wide-ranging lucky bag of songs. The Italo-rooted brothers melt influences from modern House music, HipHop, Electronica and even jazzy elements into a fresh and life-affirming total work of art. And here it is in all its glory - 'No Bullshit' . With a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek humour and a seemingly endless supply of fresh ideas, Deo & Z-Man might have pulled one of the most creative albums of the year. Effortlessly gliding between wigged out house for the dancefloor, synthy space weirdness, hip-hop infused beats and twisted, smoked-out electro pop - 'No Bull-shit' is a rare thing, a collection of esoteric and eclectic influences that hang together perfectly as a proper album.
The boys have long since created their own special vibe through their well received singles, live performances and DJ sets - mixing musical knowledge, party rocking skills and a sense of fun that is all too often lacking these days. Even more rare is to capture that magic in the studio over the course of an album. Yet 'No Bullshit', as the name cheekily suggests, nails it. Listening to the album it’s easy to see how Deo & Z-Man cut their teeth with HipHop - tracks like 'Tamastar Santini' (feat Janos), 'Two Blue Bros' and 'YRUAG' reveal a background of beats and rhymes that infuses the whole vibe of the album. Equally at home in the club, recent single 'XTC', 'Chopped Memories' and 'Tales of Love' are lessons in leftfield club dynamics - deep, musical grooves that hint at the brothers' legendary nights as residents at the famed Golden Pudel Club. Yet 'No Bullshit' doesn't stop there - 'Iced Out Space Lazerlights' and 'Universal Neighbours' are both journeys into the synth stratosphere, while 'Music to Driveby', 'Slippin Into Somethin' and 'Smokeroad' are unclassifiable - weird and inventive in the way that all great pop music is.

'Little Drummer Girl' is a stunningly rich, diverse and futuristic 4-track EP from the Brooklyn duo Tiger Fingers. A collaboration between Jordan Lieb (also known as Black Light Smoke) and Asako Kujimoto. The cheekily-named pair have assembled three unique remixes of their title track – each as bold and refreshing as the other.
The A side kicks off with the original – all bubbling synths, arps and effects, and a subtle yet disturbing vocal from Asako. Beats and thunderous synth riffs combine with speak ‘n’ spell samples to produce a mesmerizing brand of 22nd century electro pop. Next up is the 'Night Plane Club Mix' – one of two remixes the Texan William Rauscher provides for this release. The club mix straightens out the groove and develops the track into a crisp house groover, finding plenty of space for old school sub bass, chiming 808 percussion and washed out, ethereal vocals – huge vibes for the floor. 'The Night Plane Remix' sees Rauscher explore more glitchy, post-everything, acid-flecked waters – an atmospheric, twisted stormer. Last but by no means least is the Hotflush man-of-the-moment, Jimmy Edgar. His take on 'Little Drummer Girl' uses the original as a springboard, from which he constructs a slamming electro-boogie-space-jam. Deeply funky, highly charged, and immensely inventive club music. 'Little Drummer Girl' is taken from Tiger Fingers debut minialbum which is due for release on hafendisko in December.
About Tiger Fingers:
The upcoming self-titled debut album by Tiger Fingers, the duo of Jordan Lieb and Asako Fujimoto, almost never saw the light of day. Recorded in the aftermath of their first collaboration, the aggressive electro-rock band Dead Radar (2005-2007), Tiger Fingers yielded six decidedly more dance and pop inspired tunes filled with lyrical duets, bubbling synths, catchy hooks, and earthy beats. After two years of touring and recording two unreleased albums with Dead Radar, followed by a year of recording and gigging as Tiger Fingers, the pair amicably split ways before their tracks ever saw release.
Asako now lives in Paris, France, and is featured as a vocalist with various artists. She is also working on her solo project, Cosmic Berry.
Still in Brooklyn, Jordan has since established himself as a producer and composer, winning a Daytime Emmy Award for his work in television and film. In the dance music world he is known as black light smoke, his alias for the indie imprint Scissor & Thread. Hotly tipped by respected tastemakers as varied as Andrew Weatherall, DJ T. and Appleblim, Jordan has emerged as one of the most exciting new voices in the North American electronic music scene, attracting the attention of hfn music's A&R Tobias Lampe who now finally give this deserved album it's due release on hafendisko. Better late than never, meet Tiger Fingers.

‘Hotly anticipated’ does not really do justice to the level of excitement the release of Reptile Youth’s debut album is generating among fans and critics alike. Those in the know are expecting the Danish duo to deliver a defining moment of 2012 - injecting their off kilter brand of highly-charged electro-punk-pop into the world’s consciousness - and Reptile Youth aren’t in the business of disappointing. Reptile Youth was formed by Mads Damsgaard Kristiansen and Esben Valløe in 2009. It was their intense period of gigging through Asia and Europe that earned Reptile Youth their radically evangelical fan base, while also prompting a string of superlative-laden reviews hailing the Youth as the saviors of rock n’ roll. Hype aside, the incredible energy generated by Kristiansen and Valløe and their extended live line up have made the arrival of this debut album a red letter day for their clued up followers.

The Copenhagen based producer and DJ, is back with an exceptional remix package on hfn music. Having dropped the stunning Fool album earlier this year, we are now treated to several stellar remixes of one of the standout tracks, the third official single ‘Bohemian Soul’. Kasper had a memorable experience in the Laid Back studio, enlisting both vocal, guitar, 808 and some crazy SH-101 psychedelic acid synth bass jams, of the pioneering 80’s outfit responsible for crossover classics ‘Bakerman’ and ‘White Horse’ – Bjørke brings things bang up to date with a sparkling, ferociously epic dancefloor burner. Bjørke´s standing on the international electronic music scene is once again evidenced by the quality of the remixes he can call on. The vinyl release features New York’s disco turned rave royalty Still Going (Dr. Dunks from Rub N Tug and Liv Spencer from House of House), delivering a signature 10-minute trip into psychedelic discoid goodness that holds the tension and key elements from the original version – underpinned by a relentless krautrock-meets-Donna Summer groove. On several occasions the track threatens to spin out of control, but somehow maintains its delirious tension for the duration. On the flip, Hamburg’s Adana Twins, the duo that has gained tremendous success recently on Exploited Records, supply their ‘On A Cloudy Day’ remix, making perfect use of the iconic vocals to produce a thoughtful and deeply grooving house cut. The track’s neurotic synth makes an appearance half way through before the sunshine peaks through the clouds with a classic white-island breakdown. Tambien‘s remix also get a vinyl release, and adventurous DJs will appreciate this slice of late night knowledge – the additional percussion bounces around the rolling bassline, balearic guitar and unsettling synth stabs. Tambien is the new exciting project of Marvin & Valentino who team up with Jazz guitarist and producer Beni Brachtel aka Bartellow. A music video directed and shot by Karim Huu Do (who also was director on videos such as Kasper´s 1st hit single “Young Again” from the last album and the latest Bombay Bicycle Club “Lights Out, Words Gone”) will be out around the official releasedate accompanied by a 5 minute “shot edit” of the original 10 minute trip. The video is shot on location in Thailand. We can say no more at this point but promise a unique and beautiful video.

After the explosive statement of intent that was their debut 7” ‘Speeddance’, Reptile Youth are back with a vengeance – and this time their laser intensity is aimed fi rmly at the club. The Danish duo drop “Black Swan Born White Remixes” featuring three sublime cuts of hypnotic house - their second single taken from their upcoming album release on hfn music. Experienced house-meisters Terranova bring the late night underground vibe to the original – providing two stunning mixes. The ‘Terranova Remix’ submerges Mads Damsgaard Kristiansen’s evocative voice into a narcotic groove, teasing out the new wave vocal infl uences and steadily building the tension into a dancefl oor burner. Terranova also supply the more stripped down dub version, taking the track in to even deeper territories – a depth bomb sure to fi nd its way into the record boxes of many after-hours DJ – late night body music for the elegantly wasted. The B side is given over to edit-master-turned-house-innovator Mark E, who provides one of his signature journeys, the track building like Lego over seven incredible minutes. A tightly wound groove is propelled by Esben Valløe’s insistent
bass, before waves of synth, guitars and robot vocals push the whole thing over the edge - psychedelic, euphoric and epic.

A1: Black Swan Born White (Terranova Remix)

Following the war cry of their fi rst single “Speeddance”, Reptile Youth return with another sublime 7” for hfn music. The second single taken from their upcoming album “Black Swan Born White” sees the Youth expand their sound towards a grandiose post-punk pop. Already a live favourite at their increasingly intense gigs, Mads Damsgaard Kristiansen’ vocals soar above the funk-driven robo-rhythm, while an instantly addictive melody references their newwave roots. On the b side, London’s futuristic psychedelic no-wavers S.C.U.M provide a remix that drenches the vocals in waves of reverb and suspense, before the track explodes into a churning power riff.
