cloud boat - Man Of War (LA-4A Remix)
Man of War is a significant sonic progression for the band. Opening track Gaia sets the tone for the release perfectly. Heavy, brooding bass and glitchy, synth stabs create an imposing sonic backdrop for Tom’s menacing vocal to hang on. Lead and title track Man Of War is driven by its propulsive beats and more washes of bass and eerie electronic touches. Fall Crocus finds the band in contemplative mood. A heavy, regretful air hangs over the track and brings to mind the work of international superstar and Mercury Prize winner James Blake, who the band has toured with, as well as Mount Kimbie and Ghostpoet previously. Final original cut Cosmos Pink is perhaps the album’s most touching effort. Cloud Boat have always been a band capable of inducing sincere emotion and this release is no different, taking the listener on a powerful, cathartic journey through life’s big issues. Remix wise, the release features offerings from Phaeleh and LA – 4A. Each act brings its own distinguishable flavour to Man Of War. Phaeleh’s version features his trademark, cinematic, take on house electronics and is a typically atmospheric effort, while LA – 4A takes Cloud Boat in a modern techno direction.

pedram - Lex (Craig Richards Magic Carpet Remix)
Following massive props recently via industry tastemakers from FACT to Four Tet, Pedram's music continues to define him as an ever growing and exciting producer to check out; and with his latest track 'Cloned' this holds truer than ever. Pedram doesn't fit into one particular electronic genre easily swimming up stream against the steady flow of tempo, style and sound. Hard hitting and industrial, 'Cloned' forces you to stand to attention. Melodic and defiant, 'Cloned' teases your emotions. Pedram's crunching drums and upfront synths paint a picture of a hectic, dystopian scene set way in the future. While his signature layered sounds and gorgeous melodies are the constant flickering excitement that sits between. James Zabiela introduces us to the darker side of this imaginary space. Teasing jungle samples, naughty acid licks and a tempo change at the halfway point, make this an undeniable head turner. To complete this package Craig Richards (who rarely does remixes) decided to supply not 1, not 2, but THREE unbelievable remixes from Pedram's previous EP Lex, making this one for the collectors. Being at the longer duration of a club track, the remixes give the listener more time for thought while subconsciously carrying them to the rare and more colourful corners of a dark club.

pedram - Walked In
Since setting the tone at Born Electric’s Boiler Room take over and releasing a widely acclaimed debut release on Born Electric, Pedram's production has found its musical feet in unique ground, which his second EP on Born Electric firmly cements. The EP opens up with Lex. A track which personifies what is gradually becoming Pedram's signature sound; ethereal soundscapes, full bodied arpeggiated synths, off-kilter drum rhythms and full of electronic emotion. Ernstige amplifies the emotion and synth soundscapes even further and is a perfect compliment to the opener, continuing the journey through delicate rising synths and georgeously timed snapshots of Pedram's recognisable sound design. After the epic journey of Lex and Ernstige, Walked-in acts as a reprise from over thinking and is an enjoyably curious groover. Fluttering around a shuffling 909 beat, pleasant piano chords and a light soundscape lay a comfortable bed for the bouncy bass to make Walked In an after hours must play. Remixes from Cardopusher and XXXY on the already stella original, push Lex into euphoric clubbing status. Caropushers remix is one for the acid lovers while XXXY extends upon the ethereal atmos and makes it one for the thoughtful techno set.
