UPC: 827170564862 Release: 08.12. 2014 (WAS) Tracklist: A1 Black Moon (feat. Cold Cave) A2 Here Comes Fear (feat. Cold Cave) B Freeze Short info: Bryan Black is back on CLR with a new BLACK ASTEROID EP, this time in close collaboration with vocalist Wesley Eisold of the band COLD CAVE on the featured songs entitled "Black Moon" and "Here Comes Fear". Both of them are excellent examples for a successful and tasteful crossing of genre-borders, a rare mixture of timeless song writing and cutting edge Techno. The haunting voice of COLD CAVE adds a warm and soulful feeling to the carefully crafted beats and atmospheres of studio wizard Bryan Black aka BLACK ASTEROID and it all results in highly entertaining electronic music with seriousness and depth. The third track on the EP is for all those who have learned to appreciate BLACK ASTEROID´s flawless blend of uncompromising Techno. "Freeze" is another milestone production, a manifestation of the outstanding skills of this experienced sound designer who started his career as the engineer of Prince and who later formed the critically acclaimed duo MOTOR. The final mix-downs were done together with Chris Liebing at his state of the art studio in Frankfurt, guaranteeing the same sonic brilliance we are used to from all recent CLR releases. With the present EP, Bryan Black, the man who toured and recorded with bands like Depeche Mode and Nitzer Ebb sums up his personal history by bringing a feeling from the past back into contemporary music. Always paying respect to his Industrial and Rock roots, BLACK ASTEROID keeps sticking out in the current Techno scene and has once more proved his mastery as an electronic musician and innovative producer.

upc/barcode: 827170540460 Release: 7th April 2014 Tracklist: A1. Metal A2. Turbine B1. Metal (Luis Flores Remix) B2. Metal (Pinion Version) Bryan Black AKA Black Asteroid returns to Electric Deluxe with his most precise and daring invention yet. 'Metal' picks up from where the 'Black Acid EP' left off with more sonic alchemies sounding unlike anything else. The former Prince engineer turned MOTOR front man turned galvanic techno DJ, producer and performer has had an incredible run in his latest guise. Since debuting on CLR with 'The Engine EP' over a series of well-shaped and energetic releases Bryan Black has forged a distinct and unique signature that is tactile, otherworldly and utterly timeless. Ingenious sound design has become his calling card, while Black's award winning MOTOR heritage never seems far behind. Moments on 'Black Acid' felt like he brought the band to the DJ booth. And with 'Metal' the sentiment rings even truer. This is "heavy metal techno," says Black, "but in a very restrained and controlled way." Indeed the hum of guitars (synths routed through guitar pedals) whirr through lead track "Metal," a taut and punchy workout spliced with token Black Asteroid weirdness. Meanwhile Black gets even more contained on the masterfully metronomic "Turbine". Droid affiliate Luis Flores and Pinion (Bobby Dowell) then split "Metal" off into its opposing sectors. Flores takes things straight the dance floor, while Pinion ramps up the noise and clangor to turn in a real unholy "Metal" monster. Another must for Black Asteroid fans and for those who like their techno cast from mysterious molds.

Another CLR release is due and this time it consists of a powerful remix package for Bryan Black´s new project "Black Asteroid". The highly recommendable originals by this unconventional Techno innovator have been released as CLR 049 and have been sounding frequently on dance-floors all over the planet ever since. Two of the three perfectly balanced remixes have been crafted by CLR´s mastering wizard, renowned live act and busy producer Brian Sanhaji. His widely known warm and organic trademark sound characterizes both of the versions, giving you the choice between two rhythmically and sonically diverse options for different occasions. Dave Clarke, who already played an early demo of the Engine EP long before it came out, contributed a highly energetic remix for the peak time moments of the night. His take on Engine 1 is called "Unsubscribe Remix" and was produced by himself and Mr. Jones. The remix takes the essence of the original track and adds Clarke´s punk attitude in its purest form. Though there has been a long studio absence, we are pleased that he took this remix duty. CLR is more than happy with this combination of high quality remixes and hopes that you enjoy this memorable release.
