tom demac - Second Skin
Tom Demac is no stranger to us, with well-played releases on Hypercolour, Electronique Audio and Glasstable, we were happy to offer him a home with Kompakt in 2018 thanks to a collaboration with Real Lies titled "White Flowers". Tom returns to Kompakt, this time solo with the 3 tracker "Serenade" . The title track is delicately brought together by a fragile piano rhythm and poetic wisdom over the might of the kick drum. Tom says its best that "Despite it being a little generic adding spoken word talking about music over actual music, the poetic nature of the delivery and description of the effects and emotions that music can bring, really worked with the piano I had written for this song." "Seventh Sign" was initially intended an experiment in cello recordings through an effects pedal but ended up being track brimming with pure techno groove. Second Skin is the perfect finale embracing epic elements of broken beat and even IDM sensibilities with a gorgeously misguided horn leading the march. On Serenade, Tom Demac shows he has what it takes to reconfigure the vitality of what emotive techno can be. A central force that has kept the beat of Kompakt's heart in rhythm since day one.

UPC A Barcode: 827170475762 Releasedate: 10.12.2012 a1 - Little Bits That Matter feat. Phil Kay a2 - Tanners b1 - Rain Of Colour Fresh off the back of an enormous Hypercolour EP that saw the house and bass movements come together in sheer awe and appreciation, Tom Demac returns with the 'Little Bits That Matter' EP on Pets Recordings. A restless soul with constantly evolving live material, it's hard to imagine the London based artist releasing anything less than genuinely unique productions, and 'Little Bits That Matter' does not fall short. The three-tracker heaves from start to finish with thick set synth work, far-flung vocals and all consuming basslines; a perfect end-of-year gem that highlights label bosses Catz N Dogz's penchant for a low end focus. Title track 'Little Bits That Matter' sees Tom Demac take the modern house template and cultivate it into what sounds like a living, breathing entity. Rhythmic claps and hi hats are offset by stifled pants and Phil Kay's vocal is so beautifully blended with the melody that it's impossible to separate the two at parts. 'Tanner' chugs along with a sophisticated groove, sprightly strings and a striking vocal hook until a vintage disco inspired break down elevates the track even further from the norm. Far darker in sound, B side 'Rain Of Colour' works with a plucky, dissonant melody and a sweeping, club controlling bassline that will leave you mindblown. Raw, personal and, most importantly, instantly danceable, Tom Demac's offering follows a long line of exciting, high quality output from the Polish Pets imprint

We keep the good-times rolling along on the Kolour mothership with the debut EP of deep-disco don DEBONAIR. We’ve been taking notes on this guy since we heard his first tune and ever-since, he just seems to move from strength to strength with each tune that’s released. Needless to say, when the opportunity arose for us to debut his first full-on solo EP, it was the epitome of a no-brainer for us. DEBONAIR shows us all facets of his musical capability with a melting pot of music ranging from the traditional DEBONAIR deep-disco sound to slo-mo beat-down business, deep-fused funk, with a dash of beautiful baleric sprinkles for good measure.

fter releases on Hypercolour and its digital off shoot, Tom Demac now makes the step up to the Glass Table imprint with a far ranging three track EP that is arguably his finest to date. Never one to fall into the usual tried and tested traps, Demac’s sound is as idiosyncratic as the man who makes it, drawing on myriad influences and getting the best out of his fine collection of studio of gear. When he’s not tweeting about pooing, how many cookies he’s eaten in 20 minutes or other such incidentals, that is.‘Obstructing The Light’ is a lazy and moody soup of swirling deep house. Dreamy voices drift like clouds above a chugging kick clap combo as light finger melodies keep things from growing all too dour. ‘Four Leaves Right’ is a quicker joint, but the moods are still studiously sombre and melancholic. There’s an irresistibly swinging arc to each kick that really sweeps you up, along with a deep, buried, bobbling Bristol bass-like b-line to keep things firmly rooted on the dancefloor despite the dream-pop vocals and layers of intricate percussion. ‘For the Love of Grey’ is the final effort and another one that is epic in its design without ever drifting too far away from a solid groove. From finger clicks to wooden hits, sad strings and snatched vocal coos, the mood is an involved, inward one that has shades of John Roberts’ organic textures and Moodymann’s atmospherics from start to finish. With this EP Tom Demac continues in Glass Table’s boutique tradition, but so too does he mark himself out as a producer with far silkier skills than your average electronic beatsmith.
