FORMAT 12" vinyl, generic sleeve, dl card TRACKLIST 1. / A1 The Way She Moves 05:35 2. / A2 Summer Kiss 05:01 3. / A3 Tired Bones 04:28 4. / B1 Growing In The Dark 06:10 5. / B2 Breathe Again 05:56 6. / DX Melancholyflower 02:48 (digital bonus) The word “resistance” is deeply embedded in the ethos of techno. For her debut release on the Tresor Records, the British artist and Tresor resident, IMOGEN, explores the concept of resilience; a related and equally vital concept.Taking its name from a theological term meaning a fundamental change of mind or spiritual conversion, Metanoia is fuelled by IMOGEN’s processing of what she describes as one of the most challenging years of her life.Any struggle against injustice or misfortune takes time and effort which requires finding a fortitude within, not only to surpass the hardship itself but to not lose ourselves to despair or bitterness in the process.IMOGEN’s journey is summed up in the lead track, The Way She Moves-resilience is, after all, a persistence to continue, to move forward. The struggle against hardship is laid out in track titles like Tired Bonesand Growing in the Darkbefore a sense of catharsis is reached in Breathe Againand Melancholy Flower. The music similarly mirror her experiences, passing through sadness, anger, before ultimately landing at acceptance and a newfound drive for self-actualisation and greater interoception; after all, the end goal of any resistance is liberation.

Imogen - Granular Tears
With the VOI 031 Voitax enters a new series of releases that will continue to expand the labels explorative musical and visual output with more talent. The series kicks of with no one less than IMOGEN, who was bursting out on the scene only a few years ago. Ever since, she established herself as an ambitious selector behind the decks and became a prominent figure in the world of dance music. Her first solo EP "What?" on Voitax presents a strong package of five tracks that clearly reflect the influence of her homelands prosperous electronic music heritage. A distinguished set of breaks are fusionend with Electro, IDM, and Hardcore without ever loosing touch to its groovy rhythmics. While this release is certainly loaded with strong dance floor material, the quality of her production process remains remarkable. The roughness and edginess of the entire EP reveal a strong connection to her 808 and modular system, that helped to create unique textures and granular soundscapes. Instead of resampling UK sample packs over and over again, IMOGEN is ambitious to create her own signature sound through a sequence of personalized studio equipment. With this approach she manages to fusion a punky style of 90's rave culture with sophisticated futuristic sound processing. Each track meets a different atmosphere, as the approach to rhythm, speed, sound and arrangement evolves from the beginning to the end - yet, they all remain part of the same story. We are delighted to welcome IMOGEN to the family and are looking forward to see this journey grow.
